I bought 4 avoc I didn't eat right away and they are getting soft. I could put them in a salad but they are a little too soft for that.

I have two left, because I used a soft on to put in a smoothie, which I rarely do. A pitcher of smoothie can last me for 2 to 3 days. So I need to do something with the other two avos I have left!

Can I freeze them and if so, how do I freeze them?

Not at mine! But thanks....

Oh, wait...do I keep the skins on or peel them off when freezing>

Some leave the Skin on. I take it off but leave the seed in the bag I freeze them in. The seed contained, keeps the color in the Fruit.

did you know a green smoothie will only last 36 hours before it digests itself? so nutritionally... you aren't getting much of anything. ;)

I would cut them in half and take them out of the skin. For future reference, when I buy more than one avocado, I make sure that only one is soft enough for immediate use. The rest I put in the refrigerator, where they take forever to ripen. Then I take them out one at a time a day or two before I want to use them and let them ripen on the counter.

I was told to ripen then refridgerate. This sounds like a better idea. Does the texture stay the same both ways as well as the taste?

I do the same thing, I keep them in the fridge until 2 days before I want to use them.

Every time I food shop, I buy anywhere from 5 to 15 avocados at a time (although this week I had about THIRTY for a Mexican-themed dinner party!!!)...

And I keep them on the counter until they're ripe, then I only keep out the ones I will eat within 1-2 days and put the rest in the fridge. When I'm down to only 2-3 in the fridge, that's around when I buy more from the store.

If you sprinkle a little lemon on an avocado you've opened and put it in an airtight container, it will last much longer in the fridge (but still only a day or so that I'd want to eat it!).

I hope something in there is helpful to you! Avocados are like my drug. I've gotta have one every day lately. Yum Yum!

Sounds like either way would work. I keep them in the refrigerator in their unripe state, because I might forget them on the counter and they turn gray before I remember to stick them in the fridge. I love avocados too much to waste them :D

Yes I lost 4 to old age :( Now I keep them front and center on the counter so I use them up. If I am not ready and they have moved to fast. We have pudding!!! YUM YUM family loves this happy accident.

I freeze avos and sometimes if I just want a little (as a dressing) I do not defrost it but shave what I want off with a knife and put the rest back.

I freeze avos a lot - we buy them in the bag of 5 at Costco, beautiful Haas avocados!

When I freeze them, what works best for me is I mash them and use my Food Saver. I put the avocado in a bag (don't seal it yet), place it in the freezer over night - then vacuum seal. *Ü*
