I'm in SO much pain!!!

My stomach is so bloated with gas, I feel like my intestines are tied in knots, I can't even go to bed. I'm sitting here with a warm compress on it. You can hear it churning and gurgling :(

I was on the run all day, didn't have time to do my green juice, or my green smoothie, so I had fruit during the morning, and lunch, then for supper I had a HUGE salad with Watercress, whole head of Bibb lettuce, Cucumber, Tomato, 1/2 Avocado, Sprouts, Nutritional Yeast, Sea Salt, Pepper, fresh Herbs from the garden, and I think that is all, but there could have been other veggies??

My stomach was already giving me problems before the salad, but the salad made the pain almost unbearable.

For the fruit during the day I had 1 Apple, 2 Kiwi, dried Apricots, Dates,
2 Baby Bananas, and some Cacao Bliss on a spoon.
I did not eat the fruit at the same time, so I know it wasn't because I didn't food combine.

I have to get up at 6 tomorrow morning, drive 2 hours to my son's race, sit there all day in the stands, and we won't be home till late tomorrow night.

What should I eat tomorrow, if my stomach is still feeling this way? Should I do a fast?
The only thing I'm worried about with fasting, is that I will feel too weak to drive home tomorrow night.

I have not felt "strong" the past few days. I've been REALLY cold and fatigued. So cold, that I have been walking around the house with one of those warm up rice socks, plus a huge blanket, cozy socks on my feet, and I still feel freezing.
I know that I'm not sick with anything. It's not that type of cold feeling.

It's in the low 80's or high 70's here, and my husband has the air set on 75 degrees, everyone else around me is fine.
You should see my chill bumps on my arms, you would think I was a Chia Pet, with the way my hair stands on ends.

My husband is getting concerned that my new raw diet could be doing more harm than good. I'm trying to convince him that I will be fine.

Do you think my iron could be low?
What raw foods do I need to eat if I'm anemic?
I have been eating a lot of spinach, plus blending it in my green smoothies.
If your gall bladder is not functioning right, could that make you cold?
I'm so tired of trying to figure it out, and I have been to several doctors that can't really figure out my stomach issues.

I just want to be out of this pain. Sometimes it's scary to even eat, not knowing how my system is going to react to anything :(

I also know that when I'm in this much pain, I can't sleep. Please pray I get some sleep since I will be the one driving and taking my son. My husband has to work, so he can't take him.

So what do you suggest I eat or drink tomorrow, to let my system recover from whatever it reacted to?
Remember I will be gone all day, and I will be outside as well.

We leave early, so if you write me after early morning I won't see it till late tomorrow night.

Thank you!!!
Cathy

...I would try to make a big bunch of juice and take some along, of course taking good water too. If anything, stick with eating well-chewed fruits, and ONLY if you are hungry and your body is asking for something. Try not to worry so much (ie anemia, gall bladder, etc) for now. You just have some indigestion and you need some rest. Just take a break from concentrated proteins and fats for a couple days, and remember to chew! Sounds like you are doing great getting nutrients from juices and smoothies and salads normally. You never know if your body is just cleaning out some microbial contamination from a veg in your salad or something (food "poisoning"). You'll feel better very soon and I hope by te time you read this you already do.

I'm sorry i cannot advise you on the stomach issues, but i can tell you that i was completley freezing for a few days, constant goose-bumps and shivering from the inside. No matter how much clothes i put on i was still freezing. But it faded away, and now i don't feel it.
I found a post on Matt Monarch's blog where someone had asked him about freezing, and he said it was all about detox, very common and suggested herbal tea, foods hot from the dehydrator and spicing things up with chili. Oh, and take a hot bath!

Peace

then for supper I had a HUGE salad

There are many ways to improve digestion that you can look into. One of the digestion helps that you might want to consider is eating smaller meals. Did you ever eat so much Thanksgiving dinner that you had to lay down and remain still for awhile ? Thats your body shutting down to put all of its effort into trying to digest all that food all at once. Smaller meals digest easier because their isn't as much work load to get the job done.

Honestly, if it were me and I was in as much discomfort as you describe I would water fast as long as possible. If you have them readily available drink lots of coconut water too. Take along some jars full of juice in a cooler along with a watermelon just in case.

The juice would be if you really feel like you need something more than water. It will transition you nicely from the water fasting and keep you from further digestive issues. The watermelon will fill you up quickly if you start getting hungry.

Yes if it was me in a sitation like that I would drink a lot of water, as long as I feel I need to. Bananas usaly does the trick for me when my tummy is upsett. Go easy on the dried fruits.

Hey michigan, I thought V8's vegetables have been cooked, and or enzymes destroyed in processing? NOT 100% so, correct me if I'm wrong?

yes v8's been pasturized . i meant making own v8 type juice at home .

which i brought up because on fasts when ive gotten weak / cold a v8 type juice has always energized / warmed me . and if d.a.c.'s stomach can take it a dash of powdered cayene pepper in it shall help warm also

* did you do the airbrush painting on the side of the 18 wheeler used in smokey and the bandit ;):D

I had a bit of a similar issue some weeks ago. It was my first week of leaving a cooked vegan diet and jumping into 100% raw. One day I packed myself a huge green salad for lunch, it was probably 4-5 cups of greens, which I wasn't used to eating in such volume (as I would only have a small side salad of greens when I was vegan). After that lunch, my stomach was gurgling strangely as you described, and then within a few hours I felt hypoglycemic even though my stomach was still filled with the greens.

Even though greens are so good for us, I think in the beginning when transitioning, it is okay to eat more fruits. We can slowly build up on the greens. My stomach wasn't used to being dumped with so many green fibers, so it was in a state of perplexion, I think. You can eat larger quantities of greens as your body adapts to this way of eating.

yeah, i just remember when i first got into healthfoods/juicing, everyone's like don't do V8, make it fresh...nevertheless, a homeade v8 sounds very good, and good for an upset stomach! I think that sounds like something i should make myself, good recommendation!

If you have any digestive enzymes in the house, that might help you know. For tomorrow, eat smaller more frequent meals, maybe mostly fruit?

Thanks EVERYONE!!

I didn't get to read everyone's responses before we left early this morning. I did not sleep too well due to the pain, but when I got up this morning, I did feel better, but my upper right hand stomach area was really sore, like someone had punched me. My lower stomach/pelvis area was still bloated, but not hurting.

I did good today, I drank A LOT of water, and then after 12:30 I ate a Papaya, waited awhile then ate some pineapple. A little while later I had some dried Papaya.
Tonight when we got home from the races I blended a frozen banana with a fresh papaya and made some "pudding" which was really good. I have not had the frozen banana before, but it was yummy and felt good on my tummy. After that I was all of a sudden really hungry, but it was already almost 8:00, and I didn't want to eat any veggies that late.
I ate some dates, and raisins, then some raw honey  Yes, I know that is a lot of sugar with all the fruit and such, but it sounded good, and it didn't cause my tummy to hurt.
I will add my veggies back in tomorrow when I have more time. It's really hard when I'm away from the house all day. I took my fruit in my cooler today.

It was really funny, here I was sitting there in my folding chair at my son's kart race, eating my fruit, and reading my Raw Food Books that I had brought. I had a big book bag of books, and they were all about raw foods, and nutrition :D I was out of place with everyone else there since they were all grilling out hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, ice cream, etc.... But it didn't bother me one bit. I am proud of the road I'm on.

I was thinking today about what could have caused my pain, and I did get some new sprouts. They were Alfalfa sprouts.
The ones I've had on my salad before were clover sprouts. Since my system is very sensitive to grains, and legumes, could it have been the sprouts? Should I stay away from sprouts?
If so, I just spent over $30 ordering sprout seeds :( What are some sprouts that may not cause me pain?

Thanks again everyone, and I'm glad I will be able to get some sleep tonight.
Cathy
