Thanks :)

gosh that's a pretty difficult thing to answer firicia. it does different things at different times depending on the needs but...
it aids in healing, cleansing and weight release. it brings a greater sense of spirituality and Self. it creates a deeper connection with everything.
your tolerance level can go up or down... depending on what it is you are tolerating LOL
it can assist or cause problems with eating. ;)

I know what fasting does..what I was wondering about was long term fasting. What is that for? Does that detox the body ongoingly.

colorawdo girl... it's firicia who asked the question... hence why i answered her :)
i can answer your question from my point of view though. long term fasting is more for spiritual reasons as well as for major healing. the detox isn't intense at all on a long term fast although you do detox... just not every day (at least i didn't)
you may not understand it till you do it but... the zone you get into is such a gift...

I think it is a very important question... Whenever I fast, people that know me always ask what could I possibly be detoxing from if I'm a raw vegan. For the majority, our diet is an extreme detox process that they think they couldn't follow for long.
But then I think... I have been a raw vegan for nine months, but I was a hard core meat/junk food eater for 20 years! Even when I became a vegetarian, that just meant more space for the cake!
Although I have never fasted for more than 10 days, I imagine a long term fast would really help my body heal from those years of mistreatment. I wish I knew more about science and medicine, but I imagine my body could not possible have gotten rid of all the chemicals, fats, toxins, etc accumulated from my old diet.
Also, as Aleesha said, fasting is very spiritual.
The first time that I ever fasted I had a lot of dreams about childhood traumas, I cried a lot and I got out things that had been bothering me for years.
I incidentally happened to be reading a mexican novel about the spanish conquest and towards the beginning of the book I found that fasting was an old practice of the indigenous mexicans during pre-colonization. They said that they had to "empty themselves completely to allow the universe to fill them."
Wow, writing this made me feel very inspired to do a 30 day fast in july...
