I am almost a month raw now, have'nt lost any weight, don't feel any different than I did when I ate cooked and fried food. But I see everywhere that people are talking about juice-fasting and stuff. Is that a big important part of being raw? Do I have to go on a juice-fast or a cleansing of some sort, to be healthier and get the benefits from that?

About 4 weeks ago I ate normal food, junk food and drank soda's and stuff, but the next day I quit "cold turkey", and I started eating 100%raw the next day, and I still am.. But should I have started out with a juice fast?

Did you??

I'd rather not go on one, so if I don't have to, that would be great! Can I lose weight and clean my body with just sticking to a raw food diet without a juice-fast?

Congratulations on "Cold Turkey". Its your Journey, do as you wish. You might not feel any different but give it time. Your Body is So busy cleaning, moving things around. Soon you will see things are different. So for now, continue your Journey and soon ALL things will be revealed.

i agree 100% with rev... except that i did start out with a juice fast... two of them back to back (9 days and 8 days) and then went raw.

it's your journey... make it what you wish :)

congrats on being raw!!!

it's probably better that you went raw first. If you went straight from cooked SAD to fasting you could have severe withdrawl and intense detox symptoms... going straight raw with fruit, smoothies and veggies is the best way for your body to slowly repair and get all the nutrients it needs. Good job

Fasting is wonderful, and a great experience. But do one when you are ready mentally - so if you'd rather not do one, don't.

For some of us - it takes a while for our bodies to begin benefiting from raw. It certainly is discouraging to read about those who get the whole goodie bag after about 4 days on raw, but each body will take it's own time.

I've noticed with me, every time I start to feel a wee bit better, my body is like "ooooooooooh - time to dump more garbage into the system" and then I don't feel better at all. I can only assume there is a lot of garbage to take to the curb, and I must be patient.

Some days are easier than others, but I know that for me, going forward is the only option.
