Hi there

My husband doesnt really like sweets but loves this recipe (the cooked kind is his favorite!) I want to make a raw one that will knock his socks off that tastes like the real thing. I know its possible just dont know the best recipe.

Does anyone out there have a really killer recipe I can try out?

Thank you for helping!!

Please post the recipe that your hubby loves and someone will help with modifying it to raw. :)

I've never had Date Pudding but seems like all you would do is blend dates in the Vita-Mix and IN Joy...

I am wondering if the OP doesn't mean Sticky Toffee Pudding ... it's a cake with chopped dates in it and a sugary sauce over the top.

I think Alissa's date nut tort would do the trick for you. Leave it in the fridge as Alissa suggests to firm up. Also on the Raw Freedom Community website as well as on the gone raw dot com website, daily raw cafe dot com etc, there are recipes for killer caramel sauces. Google raw caramel sauce or on this forum search the banana.

A short version of caramel sauce is to whip mesquite or lucuma powder with light agave syrup! Or just use lots of agave syrup on it, I think agave tastes a lot like a combination of yummy butterscoth with light caramel overtones. Anyone else agree?

If you were in Oz, I'd say use passionberry syrup. However this is unfortunately not raw, however it tastes like a combination of banana, caramel and vanilla . So why not whip up some raw caramel, combine it with raw banana syrup( recipe on this forum and @ gone raw dot com), and add vanilla essence or a little bit of vanilla seed paste. Eureka raw passionberry sauce.

There's also fantastic icecream recipes on gone raw dot com. This is just one example:http://www.goneraw.com/recipe/cinnamon-bun-ice-cream

You could serve your husband Date nut tort with raw passionberry sauce and raw cinnamon bun icecream.

The recipe for Date nut tort is available at alissacohen.com, or even on this site. The banana is your friend.;)

Happy trails,

Carla.

My favorite way to make raw chocolate pudding is (off the top of my head)...

1/4 c. dates (soaked for 30 min.)
1/4 c. agave nectar (or maple syrup)
1/4 c. raw cocoa powder
1 1/4 avocadoes (kind of an odd amount but basically I use 2 small ones or 1+ a little bit if they are big ones)

Blend it all up and chill in the fridge and it's sooo good!

Thanks for the recipe, but I think she's after sticky date pudding, which is a cake with lots of chopped dates in it, with a burnt caramel flavor, which has a gooey caramel icing all over, and is served with caramel sauce and icecream. It's very SAD, very delicious, definitely as addictive as crack :o, and kryptonite if you have a sweet tooth. :p;). I should know, it's been one of my favorite deserts for winter.
