Hi,
Do we need to strain the juice. I was told that we want our digestion track to shut down so we should strain the juice. (the pulp would keep our digestion going?) Is this correct.
Thanks,
Kim

Hi Kim120,
just wondering how your juice feast is going. I hope it's going well for you! :)
I'm on day 50 of mine, and I do strain the pulp out, but if you want to cleanse a little slower, you could leave it in.

Juice feasting is consuming green smoothies or things with pulp.
Juice fasting is consuming juices without the pulp.
Different results for each or depending on your present state of health. Fasting generally includes detoxification, but not to say you won't experience this juice feasting as well.
If you're green juice feasting you don't need to strain, but you may already have figured this out.
All the best with your feast.

Ah.
Perhaps we all are talking about two different approaches to juice "feasting". :)
My opinion came from the "juice feast" that is advocated by David Rainoshek.
His definition of feasting comes from the amount of juice rather than the amount of fiber in the juice (a gallon or more per day). If one follows his program, they would strain all juice through a nut milk bag to remove the pulp, thus making the juice easier to digest.
That's the program I'm following and I haven't heard the other definition of juice fasting vs. feasting, so thank you for broadening my perspective. :D

Really??? I've never heard of that before. Juice feasting is over 4 litres of juice per day... juice fasting is less than 4 litres of juice per day. Both are strained. :)
Green smoothie feasting is just that... feasting on as many green smoothies a day as you desire.
To the OP... as for straining your juice. If there's a whole lotta pulp in there you'll want to strain it or your hunger won't go away. But if you are using a quality juicer, you shouldn't have to strain it. If you are using a Vita-mix... then you definitely need to strain it with a nut mylk bag.

hey everyone
i'm new to forums so im not so sure how this works but i was wondering a few things
1. when i make my green smoothies i add alot of fruit to balance out the tastes so my question is how much fruit is too much and makes it so that the smoothie is no longer considered a green smoothie or is it automatically a green smoothie because you are adding greens regardless of the amount of fruit
2. what types of juices would an effective juice fast consist of if my goal is to lose some weight
3. is E.V.O.O considered raw?? because i am really struggling with salad dressings...any suggestions would be fantastic
thanks so much

Hi livelife.live raw! Welcome to RFT!
To me, as long as a smoothie has greens in it, it can be considered a green smoothie. :)
When I started drinking them a few years ago, I added lots of fruits as well, but I found as time went by, I needed fewer fruits to make the taste palatable. It's better to add more fruit if it helps you get the greens in you, imo.
As far as what types of fruits are best for losing weight, I think the ones that contain lots of water are best, like watermelon, citrus fruits, etc. I would use less of the bananas and more dense fruits at first. That's also just my opinion. I released over 80 pounds when I went raw, so I do have a little bit of experience with it.
EVOO can be raw or not, depending on the temp the oil reaches during processing. I use cold pressed oils, as they don't get heated to the temp that would compromise their quality.
Again, welcome. I hope this helps and I'm sure others will give you their perspective as well. To your health! :D

Welcome to the forum!!! (((hugs)))
As long as you have some greens in your smoothie... it's a green smoothie. Many people do a 60% fruit 40% green ratio but do whatever tastes good to you.
Any juices will aide in weight release... so drink what you love. I did an 84 day juice fast and pretty much only drank pineapple juice, watermelon juice and tomato juice the entire time. It's what I was wanting, so I went with the flow. So... follow your body, it knows what it needs.
And yes, EVOO is raw. ;)

It's a beautiful feeling, isn't it?
Indescribeable, yet we always want to share it with others because it's so wonderful.
It just has to be experienced, and then we can say that we know what you mean. :)
My family says they get tired of hearing how great I feel, but I notice that they are paying more attention to what I'm doing and then incorporating that into their lives. It's beautiful.

are we allowed to have tea?
thats probably a really dumb question...but aren't we technically "cooking" the herbs?
livelife.liveraw
05-31-2009, 04:09 PM
god i know!
my dad and brother both dont get it at all and i feel like i dont even want to tell them about it cause they just dont understand at all. they both think this is another one of my weight loss attempts but it is so much more than that. i just cant stop thinking about how great i feel and i was so worried i wouldnt feel any changes at all cause i was transitioning from an already very strict vegan diet rather than an average american diet but the fact that i do feel a little different shows what huge of an effect cooking and processing alone has on our bodies you know?

of course it's not raw if you heat the tea leaves up above 118 degrees. some people make sun tea... putting tea bags in a glass jar with water and allowing the sun to steep it.

getting discouraged from what? eating healthy?
give yourself some time... you've been raw for what? a minute and a half (okay i know it's longer but considering how old you are... really how long have you been raw?) it can take time to get 'there' but you will (((hugs)))

why feasting need so much juice per day ?

why ?
is that juice with pulp made us feeling less hungry ?
and what should we call if we just consume "juice with pulp" as well ?

you can call it whatever you wish. ;) juice with pulp fast?
when the pulp is in the juice it keeps your digestion more awake... and keeps you feeling more hungry.
when you are juice FEASTING you consume more juice. this is a great way to heal dis-ease in your body. you feed your body as much nutrition as possible (hence the large quantity of juice) so your body has all it needs to heal.
