I decided to modify my copy of Living on Life Food as I'm sure it's going to get a lot of wear and tear with regular use -- especially with my putting heavy things on it to help keep the pages flat while follow the recipes. So I had it spiral bound. Here's what it looks like now:

GREAT idea! I wish all (un)cook books were made like that. It's ridiculos to have them filled up with jars of havy things to weigh down the pages! Sometimes i can't even see the recipe for all the weights!

how cool! A couple other folks around here have done that, I think. Where do you go to get stuff like that done??

I was thinking of tearing it at the recipe section and having it sprial bound in two sections.
I had mine done at Kinko's for around $5 (Alyssa's book). I've got all my low-carb (ugh!) cookbooks spiral bound too. Wish I could transfer them over - ha! *Ü*

I did this with a music book years ago. Went to Kinkos (FedEx Kinkos) and it was $4 plus tax and 5-minutes. :D

Switching to raw from low-carb seemed pretty easy to me. Rethinking the carbs is a bit different though as is shopping in a different area of the stores.
I agree Visorblue ~ Oooh - when I think back on the dairy FAT we ate while Somersizing (shiver!!) We used to buy cream in the half gallon containers, big blocks of cream cheese...etc!
Thank goodness our bodies are wonderful and forgiving. *Ü*

Dang! for some reason I was expecting it to be more expensive to get done! I just might do this...:)

Good idea. I normally photocopy the recipes from my books (I have a business color copier at home for my home business) and that way I have the added advantage that if I dirty them, which often happens, the original book stays clean.

Hmm. As I look at my Somercizing collection (books, audio tapes, videos...apron) I have to smile. Then there was my fat-free craze with a collection of books and a bread machine...
Did you ever make her and Alan's favorite breakfast? I did, many times. It's interesting to watch in the video.

Check this out. It also works very well, PLUS it keeps the pages from getting splattered, and holds the book at a good angle for reading:

Ikea also had one something like this, but not so expensive:
http://www.amazon.com/Clear-Solutions-Cabinet-Acrylic-Cookbook/dp/B000MWTOYO/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1249559993&sr=1-16
But that spiral binding is really good too. I once had one 3-hole punched and put it in a binder.

I have 2 older vegan cookbooks that I had this done, and it is totally worthwhile to do! IMO, there's nothing worse than having to weigh down stubborn pages when trying to check out the recipe, and then the jar that you're using as a weight falls over or something - LOL!When I had this done, I took them to my local print shop, but this was about 15 years ago. The Kinkos tip is a good one - we have one 10 blocks away from us here in SF.
I really love this idea! It's fantastic!!!

I was impressed with this idea and had my copy done today. It is not nearly as nice, clean and neat as your pic as I've splashed and spillled and written all over mine. It's sure nice to have it open flat. Thanks for sharing the great idea.

Thank you for that suggestion!
I got all my raw recipe books spiraled, including Alissa's. It cost me $3.50 each. I'm so excited because they all lay flat now. No more trying to weight the pages down. Yay! :D
