Fasting has been on my mind for months. Two weeks ago or so I read about fasting for healing. This particular method really emphasized total rest during the water fast. Total rest is not something I can do so I didn't get any farther than reading about fasting.

So then I get a little sick and think, "I should fast and I'll get over this quicker." But I don't. Two more days go by and Wham! I'm sick. Brought up Sunday morning all the wonderful raw food I'd eaten the day before. Spent most of the day laying down sipping on water.

And this morning? I felt great (still do!) and looked great (still do!). The difference in my face is amazing, and I had to tighten my belt today.

So what I'm wondering is, is there such a thing as water fasting two days of every week? Or would that be defeating the purpose since I won't get the benefits that come with a long fast?

I'm mostly interested in fasting for weightloss. When I first went raw the weight flowed off, but I've been at the same weight for months now.

Thank you! : )

It's not unusual for people to fast one or two days out of every week. They don't have to be consecutive days. You could also do a juice fast, that includes about a qt. of juice a day along with water. You will get the benefits. In my opinion, extended water fasting without supervision by someone experienced in healing through water fasting is not advisable. The one to two day fasts are great!

Hi AKRaw... that practice is called 'intermittent fasting'... something I have just recently learned about and am very interested in. You can google it and get all kinds of info. Hope that helps!

AKRaw, I just finished a 7-day water fast, and enjoyed it so much that I'm now pondering my own fasting schedule. I think one or two days a week would be wonderful for you! I'm thinking of doing that, too--or maybe a 7-day fast once per month, unless someone with more experience here suggests that I don't do that long for that often.

Best of luck!

oh you can sooooooooooo fast for a week a month rawsweetie. it'll have great benefits in your body and life.

you can also fast for a day or two a week. it's recommended that you only fast one day on and one day off when you fast weekly - because this way you don't have to break your fast... you body rests rather than shuts down. it's more gentle on your body.

but... that said, if it seems to be working for you... then follow YOUR body cause it'll let you know if 2 consecutive days a week is a bad thing.

i fast a lot, i love fasting. it makes me happy. i usually eat for a week tops before starting another fast... which means i am only breaking my fast when i stop eating again LOL because of this i've changed my outlook to juicetarian... cause saying i'm fasting all the time - well... for me juicing daily is a life style choice - just like being raw is - not a phase.

sorry for going off on a tangent there... not sure why i shared that but i won't delete it. perhaps someone will enjoy reading my words. :P
