Hey folks, I was thinking of doing a 10-day Master Cleanse next week, but in addition to the usual lemonade diet component, I was thinking of having 1-2oz of fresh wheatgrass juice as well. Is it bad to deviate from the MC prescribed diet? At the time that the book was published, wheatgrass was relatively unknown in health circles, but it does appear to have strong detoxification powers. Anyone ever tried their own variation of MC like this?

And I think I'll use raw agave nectar instead of maple syrup -- raw foodists are saying it was much more enjoyable but the overall cleansing was still great. :P

Hi futureboy, I know at some fasting clinics they actually include wheatgrass juice with the MC and other juice cleanses. In my personal experience I noticed having the wheatgrass made my MC more difficult in that it awakened my digestive system once it shut down. Part of the beauty of the MC when it's completed as Stanley Burroughs outlines in the Master Cleanser is it shuts down your digestion and eventually it becomes easier just to go about your normal day, without hunger and cravings.
When I used wheatgrass shots during my last MC, I noticed I was craving food for the duration. But when I stuck to the MC, just drinking the lemonades and water I was just fine and did not have cravings after the 2nd day or so. The last MC was 10 days with the wheatgrass experiment. The prior one was 40 days and I did fine without it. I drank the wheatgrass when I was done instead.
Sometimes you just have to try it out yourself. If you feel that it would be a great combo, go for it and see how you feel. Our bodies are all different. Just wanted to share my experience with it.
The other thing with the agave, it tends to be sweeter than maple syrup and so you may need to use less to taste. Just a head's up.

Awesome, thanks for the input! I'm going to skip on the wheatgrass and I just ordered an MC book from Amazon to learn more. I'd prefer to use Raw Agave since god knows what they put into maple syrup. At the end of my 10 days, I'll start using the wheatgrass.
I'm excited, I was reading an article on amazon about the MC -- the guy was going through the same thing as me, where I've been raw for 21 days and only lost 10 lbs (usually I'd lose about 19-20 lbs for 21 days), so I am worried there is some toxicity that's preventing me from my normal weight loss.
I'm not as excited about not working out since I've addicted myself to that, but I'm sure I'll manage a week of atrophy. I am thinking of still doing oil cleansing method (with coconut oil as the secondary oil). I do like my coconut oil. :) And I can blog it all here.
