I'm really excited and a tad nervous. It's going to be at a friends house and there will be about 10 people. Just the right amount. I'm charging $30 to start out, but will most likely raise the fee because I realized how much time it takes for prep.

I will be serving:

Coconut water
Green Smoothie
Raw Tacos
Chocolate Banana Almond milk shake

I would have done a really extravagent dessert like the cheesecake, but I thought it might be too heavy after the taco. Anyways wish me luck. Hopefully I will inspire at least 1 person to eat more raw foods.

Oh Solar that's great!!! I'm sure despite the butterflies it will go well. I just wanted to share in the Bay Area I've taken raw food prep classes at private residences and the charge has been $50 to $75, incuding the food prep costs. I think most of the people attending were aware that the food prep factors in the cost. The host usually mentioned it in the flyer or advertising. I was completely okay with that, just looking at it from an attendee's point of view.

The menu looks delicious! Have FUN. :)

Some of the classes I've taken were soley focused on desserts and they were the funnest ones. The whole time we spent making desserts. Just throwing that out there if there's a concern about food combining.

How exciting!! I loved to go to peoples homes and play with food when I did cooking home shows. Remember you only have one first show( it will go better then you think) and the rest are a piece of dehydrated cake :D

Thanks for all the reply's. Well it went pretty good, not as smooth as I would have liked, but I'm rather perfectionistic. There were some late arrivals which threw me off a bit, but overall the response was really positive. The guests were mostly people I work with so it was a good start. We are all massage therapists too so it wasn't like I had to convince them what healthy food actually entails. They really loved the coconut water and the tacos the most. I will most likely charge more due to the time it takes to buy the food, prep, transport, clean up,etcc., but it was all worth it. : )

Well I'm off to watch the video tape I made of the whole event. Should be interesting.

Happy Rawday,

Solar

My mom and I have just decided to host a raw food potluck later this month at our church! I need to start planning what I'd like to share with everyone, but this gives me some ideas! This is a potluck, so I won't be charging.

Yeah. I got the Chef and Instructor Certificate under Alissa's program about 3 years ago, but it took me some time to do a class because I wanted to be 100% and I just wasn't there yet. Over the course of the years I have learned so much just from reading different books and listening to various well known raw fooders, that I had much more knowledge to share with everyone at this point as well as personal experience. Things always seem to work out for the best don't they. : )

Hopefully many of you will share your knowledge with others once you feel ready to teach. Lord knows the people need some educating on real nutrition. Raw food is the future. Believe it, because it is true. :D

Glad to hear it went well. Would love to see a condensed video of it on YouTube or something!

I've been teaching Uncooking to homeschooling kids and their mom's. It IS a lot of work, and expensive to do.

Regarding your price, I'm just cheap I guess, but I can find out so much info online, that I wouldn't want to pay much more than that - even though I know it's worth it....sigh.

You go girl!

solarliving...I have run into the same challenge. I had a plan..hahahaha so much for plans and was going real well.
In came the latecomers, missing a whole lot of stuff. I tried to recap for them. Had handouts which made it easier. It def threw a curve to the program.
Nice that it all worked out for you..fun fun fun!

Thanks all for your support. You know the minute I heard about raw food, this was the first forum I joined and have been here ever since. Thanks for reminding me why this is the best one.

Colorawdo girl- totally happend to me. I decided that the next class I will tell them it starts 30 minutes before it actually starts. We will see if that works. : )

Do you have to have a food license or take a board of health food class? Did you get special insurance to cover yourself for doing classes?

Congratulations for holding your first teaching class. It must have been a nice experience. I paid $120.00 as an attendee for a class which was 3 hours long.
