Before I started to be raw, I thought I was an insomniac. I've since realised that it was what I now call 'the red wine effect'. Go to sleep for a few hours, wake at 2am, be totally unable to sleep for 3 hours, roam around the house, fall asleep as it's time to get up. Spend day feeling terrible. Now I don't drink and am about 95% raw - so why is it, that occasionally the same thing happens. Not so often but maybe once a fortnight. Could it be habit? I do have something on my mind at the moment, but it's not stressing me. Any ideas?

I go through bouts of this as well...and then it can turn into a vicious cycle if you nap during the day to compensate for the lack of sleep the night before...It definately affects me if I'm stressed or 'too busy', if I have any anxiety to get things done, or that I might forget something, etc.
But also, caffiene...ie even raw chocolate recipes will do it. Even just plain eating too many carbs in the evening can trigger it.

It happens to me mostly if 1) I eat to late (after 7 p.m. or so) at night OR, I eat too much OR, the wrong thing 2) I don't get enough movement in during the day so I'm restless 3) I've got things on my mind I need to get out.
Solutions: 1) stop eating by 6 p.m. ~ earlier if possible 2) get moooovin' 3) write down all the stuff in my head and get it out!

I do this too sometimes and it can really be a vicious cycle. I find if I eat a salad or purely fruit meal for supper I sleep great and wake up feeling wonderful....if I eat a heavy meal in the evenings I am awake off and on all night and tired in the morning.
