Has anyone ever heard of Juice Plus? It is "whole food based nutrition" in capsule form. If you have heard of it and use it what do you think of it and why do you take it? :)

Whole food it's not. Whole food contains fluid. It's not raw, it's processed. Whole and raw are not the same.

i can't say i would ever take a juice supplement as i eat an incredible amount of fresh fruit and green smoothies every day. How would you know if it made a difference anyway?

I haven't taken it but someone I know keeps talking about it. I keep asking if I am eating about 95% raw why would I need a supplement like that but she can't answer. So I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of it and or used it.

ah i see. Yes i understand a lot of people find a supplement or food that they really believe everyone should try regardless of how well or poor they eat. So it's kind of irrelevent how the product works versus how passionate they are about it as you try them when they're reccommended to you, not by innate desire.

I'm definitely trying the whole foods approach and seeing how that goes and then tweaking if i feel or see im missing something.

I believe it's a multi-level/direct marketing plan. I've heard of it; not used it. No reason to.

I won't be using it either. I feel fine the way I am eating now. In fact I feel great! :p

uch. those multilevel marketing things can be a headache. im sure they work fine for some people, but i remember talking to someone who used to do one of them and he stopped because he said that he started looking at every person as a "potential client" and it just started to do his head in because he couldnt do that and still feel like he was living authentically...

I've had people who are raw approach me about it and try to say I need it due to how the soil is still deficient, can't get enough from just food, can't eat enough variety, etc., etc., etc. Sorry, I didn't buy it. Plus, they used it for their kid who was supposed to be raw & gluten free, but there's a gluten containing ingredient!

I'm not putting down supplements or superfoods, or the like. I think each person needs to do what they feel will work for them. If you don't feel you need it aside from someone else telling you you do, then I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. :)

I took it for a while after cancer. It was recommended to me by an elderly woman who worked at a health food co-op near me. Her husband had had cancer and she said it helped him survive. With or after cancer you tend to do a lot of things that give you hope. The stuff certainly didn't hurt me any, but for that kind of money you can buy a lot of wonderful produce. There is NOTHING better than the real thing. It's also more enjoyable to eat fruits and salads and drink smoothies than to pop capsules.

Just get a juicer and make wonderfull fresh organic veggie and fruit juices....no processed product would ever be as good as the real thing!!!!

also, i don't think it's MLM because I've seen it in my local grocery stores

Yeah like I was explaining to this person what my diet is and I didn't understand a need for such supplementation if I am eating such a healthy diet and eating all the raw fruits and veggies I wanted. What was ironic is that this person has been a Registered Nurse for about 35 years and has been a "health food nut" all of her life. When I explained to her how I was eating she was very critical and kept saying I need to get my "protein" and eat more cooked foods. I told her how I feel 1,000 percent better physically, emotionally - all of it - the way I am eating now - even though I am not perfect and I have a ways to go. She just didn't get it. She wasn't even trying to ask me to sell the stuff she thought it would help me relieve some stress. I told her that I would drink extra green smoothies to help relive my stress because they work just fine thank you very much!;)

I looked it up and I believe it definitely is MLM. You saw "Juice Plus" in grocery stores? Are you sure it was the same product?

I just don't get why anyone who is already eating fruits and veggies as a main part of their diet would even need anything like that.

It is MLM. Whenever I am interested in something that is MLM, I become a distributor, not because I want to sell it or sponsor other people, but because I believe in getting things "wholesale" whenever I can. It makes a difference. By the time my "annual renewal" came around, I no longer took the product and didn't respond. No problems. But it's definitely MLM.

I agree with most of you here....Might be good for the typical American on a SAD diet, who doesn't get fruits and veggies, but here I'm 90 - 95% raw--getting it mostly fresh....why bother with processed stuff? If it's made from whole foods then how can it be better than whole foods?

Seems like a waste of energy/packaging to me ---except if you're not going to change off the SAD.

Definitely an MLM. At my husband's last navy reunion, this lady kept talking about it and how it it actually saves you money, because she used to pay $3.00 for a pound of grapes, and now she gets all of her fruits/veggies from a pill.

There's another distributor in my husband's networking group who gave him a DVD. There's this whole list of stuff to do to keep healthy, which ends with "take Juice Plus", and then says how everyone feels better. Even DH said, if I eat whole foods, don't overeat, exercise, get plenty of rest and fresh air, isn't that what makes me feel better? And if I do that, why do I need a pill?

Attached is a link I found about JuicePlus before my husband met with the distributor from the group, plus a excerpt from the article about the cost.

http://www.mlmwatch.org/04C/NSA/juiceplus.html

NSA sales aids acknowledge that taking Juice Plus+ is not as good as eating the recommended amounts of grains, fruits, and vegetables. But they also state that everyone should take Juice Plus+, including people whose diets contain adequate amounts of the nutrients in Juice Plus+. NSA's "Preferred Customers" who buy a four-month supply of Juice Plus+ capsules at a time, pay about $480 per year.

It's not raw or organic so it's not good. Also contains grains, which definitely aren't good unless sprouted and then only certain ones. Better supplements if you're gonna take something.

$480 a year buys a lot of fruits and vegetables, which you will have to buy even if you take the pills.
