View Full Version : Fasting Support Thread - Those who are fasting... support each other here!

I thought I'd start a new thread since the old one is getting rather lengthy.

This thread is for all of us who are juice fasting, water fasting, green smoothie feasting and master cleansing.

This is a place where food is not discussed. If you choose to eat during your fast/feast, please don't share about it here other than to say "I ate" but please don't go into any details as the other people in this thread are fasting and come here to not read about food. (((hugs)))

So... let's support each other in our journey!!!

I just finished a really good rhubarb juice. It was like a happy dance in my mouth. Oh man, I am in love with this juice!!! A nice blend of apple/parsley/ginger and rhubarb is a winning ticket in my world.

love and light,
Aleesha

Fantastic. Just in time for me to join back in. Spent all day yesterday (my birthday, no less) on airplaines going from Seattle to Philadelphia with my daughter, because we hoped that she could catch a military hop from there. I turned aroun and came back today. For me it's back to juice, water, and green smoothies depending on how I feel on any given day. My daughter did great while here. She knows that raw is the way to health. She says she won't commit to a lifetime of 100% raw, but for now she and her family will concentrate on green smoothies and lots of salads with occasional cooked foods, but definitely vegetarian. In just 2 weeks she looks so much better than she did when she came here, and feels much better as well.
Ok, back to fasting.

New thread - yay!

Beginning of day 4 today. So far so good - I'm a little stunned I've not really felt any debilitating detox yet? Just a mild headache on day 1 and detox breath. All I've had is juice, water and teas, and a little orange and pineapple. Even my tongue isn't as coated and furry as it was the first time I did this? And no weird emotional rollercoasters and detox dreams either? Anyone else had this at day 4? It seems suspiciously easy. Could the chlorella and spirulina and occassional green juices I take usually be keeping me detoxified? I want to get a good sweep out of nasties before I allow myself to break this, lol. Sounds selfish, but that's the reason I'm doing this - a spring clean of body, mind and soul. Ah well, go with the flow!

Work has been its usual busy self and I've not felt super weak at any point too. I know water only might be pushing my body too hard whilst at work but I think i'll give it a go one of these days, as I really only have Saturday off till the next weekend. And even then, I have lots to do around the house, not to mention gardening, sigh. It's all good though! Will try water only next week and well, if I get ill, I get the day off, I guess (naughty giggle). Originally said I'd be breaking right about now but at this moment in time I want to carry on, so one day at a time! Or, one moment at a time - my feelings fluctuate through the day!

Aleesha, read your juicetarian post - makes good sense - very spiritual! Good on you girl - I don't know why, but I'd like it if you shared the fact you ate something with us - makes one like me not feel bad about little pieces of pineapple and orange! I love what you said about guilt being a self mutilating, self indulgent entity - I can surely do without that in my life! I'm cool! Blissful!

I had me a tomato juice last night. Followed Aleesha's lead, ate it like soup. Loved it! Tomatoes, celery, carrots, pepper, ginger, basil and a chilli pepper. seasoned with Himalayan Pink Salt and 1T smoked garlic oil - yum! Froze 3 jars so I'm sorted for the next few couple of days! Will juice more to freeze tomorrow after a visit to the farmers' market.

Have a lovely day peeps!

PS - found out yesterday my ayurvedic teas are what you guys refer to as love tea. Very appropriate as they sure are love teas, lol! i love them! The do come with sayings on them - forgot to same mine to share but i sure will be sharing from now on!

Rawjac, that tomato juice sounds awesome! I want to juice more tomatoes since I'm in the sun everyday and I know they offer great skin protection. Your recipe sounds divine.

What kinds of tea does everyone drink? Curious.

Today I felt soooo weak. Ugh. Just gotta get through it, I guess. No amount of liquids could cure me! Either way, I still love fasting. If this insane weakness keeps up over the next few days, I may incorporate some simple solids into my diet and see if that helps, or do a smoothie.

Happy juicing to all!

Hey Butterfly! Yup, the tomato juice was so divine, and so filling I felt so good after 'eating' it! Ate it like I would soup!

I've got a vast array of teas but my fave at the moment are the yogi teas (so warming!) and Pukka detox tea. I also drink nettle tea from loose dry nettles (loads in my garden at the moment so refusing to buy any!), and an array of other herbs/superfoods lile purple corn something, yerba mate etc. Whatever takes my fancy! I'm drinking a 'hot chocolate' in a moment (well, warm) by Yogi and adding honey to it as I feel a little shakey. One I had this morning said to me: 'The beat of your heart is the rhythm of your soul'. love them!

Off for 'lunch'. Green juice, red juice, water, water, water and my warming yogi choco tea!

first off... your tomato blend may be HORRID when you defrost it. i've found that if you add anything to tomato (like ginger or garlic or spices) and freeze... it comes out un-drinkable. so defrost and taste before you freeze more. (and share your experience with us!)

detox is. it just is. just cause you don't 'feel' it doesn't mean it's not happening. trust your body and the process and appreciate every moment you feel great. it's a gift! doing water only WILL kick it up a notch... but it'll also kick you down a notch (may not, but chances are it will)... so be prepared for it. ;) you are better off juice fasting for a week than water fasting for one day and then breaking your fast because of how you feel/can't cope with your daily regime. at least in my opinion you are. others will feel differently.

as for sharing about eating. sorry but this isn't the place for that. i will share about it on my blog, which is linked into my sig and you are welcome to read it daily *grins* but this thread is for support... and when i'm in the zone i don't want to read about food. reading about food can kick me outta the zone and this thread isn't about kicking people off their fast, it's about supporting each other. (((hugs)))

What kinds of tea does everyone drink? Curious.

detox tea, fasting tea are my main two right now. i often put a bag of each in one tea cup and some raw honey... and enjoy!!! refilling my cup 2 or 3 times with the same bags. mmmm yummy!

Veganforlife, have you fasted for 95 days? Water? Juice?

she's doing a green smoothie feast!!!

Yeah, juicing socks!!!!! {{{{HUGS}}}}

you know i looooooooooooooooooooooooooove them!!! *wiggles toes in her juicing socks*

i'm drinking my water, got my juices out for work. i gotta tell you all... this rhubarb blend rocks my world like nothing else right now. you just have to try it!!! mmmmmmmmm so tart and yummy!!! remember, add a little oj to it... you'll loooooooove it.

I am going to try the rhubarb today. I have a huge plant in my garden going crazy. I didn't have much time over the last two weeks for anything but enjoying time with my daughter. Now I have to start planting stuff, get the tomato plants out into the beds and sow lettuce. It's so fantastic to be able to grow my own juice, lol.

Oh no! I'll defrost some tomorrow. Hope it remains okay.

Ate something again this evening but I feel okay about it. No big deal. No guilt. Will eat tomorrow with family and hopefully I'll get back to this as I feel wonderful doing it. Plus a few pounds lost is a welcome gift - weight loss, like detox is a major determining factor for me - why lie?

Aleesha, about sharing that you ate - not details but like I just did - that's allowed, right? Personally, I'm not bothered reading all, but I do understand it can be difficult for some when peeps go into detail. Just mentioning eating without going into detail isn't distracting though - is it? Love reading your blog anyway, so no sweat!

Just finished a 40 day fast (supposed to have been MC initially but some days I didn't do anything or else I just wanted water/tea so I would say that 80% of the fast ended up being just water or sometimes an herbal tea).

Starting this past Tuesday, starting having sips of orange and mango juice to transition my body back to foods again. Today marked my 4oth day and the end of this particular fasting period

Enjoy your fasting and I hope it brings the outcomes you desire

Congratulations to everyone for doing these fasts or feasts! Thank to you Aleesha for starting this thread and sharing you powerful experience. You are quite a woman and you are doing so wonderful.

I was wondering for the ones that do the fast (juice or water), did you do a liver cleanse as per Alissa or any liver cleanse before that?

I only did very short period of green smoothie, max 9 days so far. So i am in awe with all of you doing one month, 40 days or even exceeding 60 days.

I wonder what would be the best time to do a fast? Meaning spring, summer, fall or winter? Summer, i don't want to miss out the all the powerful berries that comes in season in my area especially the wild blueberries.

Have a wonderful experience and healing!

RawSweetie

RAM,
I am planning to do a parasite and liver cleanse after I complete my water fast. I believe I will follow Alissa's instructions for the liver cleanse. It will be my first experience with these kinds of cleanses.

I am feeling that right now--spring--is the best time for me to do this, b/c it is a transition time from a very "dead" winter to what will be a very busy summer. Also, I'm doing the fast while visiting my sister and her family, who I love dearly, so I'm feeling happy and relaxed. I'll be here for the first 10 days, then back to my home for the second half.

I could never have done this fast in either the winter or summer, or maybe even fall, for a variety of reasons. I think it must be a very subjective thing..

Thank you Aleesha! Rhubarb juice sound like the way to go. I so love watermelon too, i am just waiting for the season for the organic one to sell in my area. Right now my fridge is pack with greens, sprouts, fruits and vegetables to juice. I may consider to start again another round and try to hold this feast/fast longer and finish with fast. Tonight i finished up the stuff to make raw meal. You are so good to be able to do that and to keep the faith.

Best wishes to all of you!

I'm not online much these days, so I may be MIA time to time, but I love coming back to read about your adventures. I transitioned into doing mostly juice and SOME food, and today it was, like, ALL food :o Didn't feel right. Tomorrow, back to juice!

Back on track today. I'm yet to drink anything yet but will catch up and do at least 4 litres of fluids.

My frozen tomato juice was yummy! Separated but tasty all the same. I froze the tomato, pepper, chilli, lemon and ginger mix only, so still okay and fresh tasting and so refreshing! Having more today.

I think I'm finding a pattern for this - I don't feel bad eating a few days and fasting a few - it's all good! Today, I'm on liquids only. Tomorrow will take care of itself!

Happy fasting/feasting all!

Must check out that liver/gall bladder flush you're all talking about!

It's equal Ellen... you all inspire me.

Jac, some people fast on Mon, Wed and Fri and eat Tues, Thurs, Sat and Sun. This may resonate deeply for you. This way, your body doesn't completely shut down so you don't have to keep breaking your fast. It's supposed to be easier on your digestion and organs.

I just started my day with the mylk of a young coconut. Wanted to do something 'fancy' for Mama Day... may even indulge in another *giggling*

I have a lot of apples, parsley and watermelon to juice... I'm hoping my hubby will assist me to get it all done today.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Starting my Ultimate Fast today due to lots of bloating and seeing lots of mucoid plaque coming out during the last few weeks. I'm having MC lemonade and juicing when I get a chance.

I've had 2 PB shakes already. Plan to do 4-5 shakes per day.

My colonic is scheduled in two days. Thinking about scheduling another one sooner if needed.

Had 2 BMs this morning already and still have that gotta-go feeling.

Back on the juice wagon today for kind of a vain reason... I stepped on the scale and was mortified by the number. A personal all time high. Hello all.
I am back from vacation. Yup, the vacation monster got me...
When we went on our trip, I already planned on fasting when we returned, so I wasn't very careful for the past week.

Now, I'm on a water fast (to start with)... Ever since I did the 11 days of MC, I've been planning on doing a water fast, and this is the first chunk of time I can do it.
Today is day ONE. a couple more days of feeling icky and hungry, and then I'll be fine. :)

This is going to be wonderful!

Hi everyone. I just found this thread and coincidentally am on Day 2 of a Master Cleanse. I had done 4 days in late April but got sidetracked by DH's birthday and then Mothers Day but I did it yesterday after talking myself out of eating breakfast and 'starting tomorrow'.

After Day 1 it is SOOO much easier to keep going! I can only imagine what it must be like at day 30, 50 or beyond! I want to do the MC at least 10 days and then want to start some kind of green smoothie/juice feast combo. I just listened to Revvell's interview with Clent Manich who lost TONS of weight very quickly doing all green smoothies. I am inspired by him. MC is easier for me right now as I am low on $$ til the end of this month and MC is just a lot less expensive. It shouldn't be an issue after this month, but when life gives you lemons.... make lemonade! ( a MC joke- ha ha.)

I love this thread and I love this site. All of you are so inspirational and helpful, so count me in! Everyone- have a wonderful day!

Green smoothies kinda seem like eating to me.

I don't do M/C so you'll have to do a search on it. There's so much info on it in this section of the forum. Green smoothie is just that... drink as many as you want every day. Lucy is almost at day 100 on her Green Smoothie Feast!

ive got a 5 and a 20 in so far 09 , gonna get a short one in
sometime within a month

melissa wants me to tell you that she can't believe you don't like the champion. she was gifted one by a neighbour and thinks you should give it more of a try. that's the short version of what she said *giggling* you know her LOL

Somehow, I have to start over every day.

Even when fasting... we start over every day. Life is like that... THIS is the only moment we have. We get to decide what to make of it. In this moment... I choose juice! (well actually fasting/detox love tea LOL)

After Day 1 it is SOOO much easier to keep going!

Welcome!!!

I'm still not feeling well. I slept a huge amount yesterday and last night and I'm not planning on moving off the couch today except to go for a nap. I have to work tomorrow so I need to get my body into a space where I can get there and take care of the kidlets.

So far this morning I've had some love tea. I have some rhubarb juice defrosting in the sink. I think I have enough juice for this week made and frozen... if not I'll hopefully have the energy to do some Thursday night cause tomorrow night is Girl Guides and so I don't get home till after 9pm.

But... it'll all work out. After all... I can always do a day of water if I need to. That's the beauty of living this juicetarian life... I can do whatever I want in each moment.

Oh and I must say, even being not-well... seeing my gorgeous fasting eyes looking back at me in the mirror... makes my day happier!

I'm in day 3 of a 10 day juice fast. I did the master cleanse twice last year and even though it helped to get ready for raw foods (after the second cleanse I went 100% raw) I don't really think is that good for you.
Now that school is over and I spent a good week of too much wine celebration, I thought it would be good to do a juice fast. I had been wanting to do it for a while.
The first two days were super easy, but today I got really tired and moody. I drank 2 green juices earlier, took a nap and when I woke up I had the juice of an entire pineapple. By it self. I wanted something really sweet. I try to listen to my body, but sometimes I worry a lot about my sugar consumption... Any tips on what kind of juices to drink?
I'm also drinking my diary kombucha.
I feel much better after the pineapple juice, so I guess it was good. I keep on having a lot of ideas for new recipes.

Aleesha Sattva
05-12-2009, 05:52 PM
i do a lot of pineapple juice myself so no worries there unless you are diabetic. i do love to add some green to my pineapple though, either some parsley or spirualina/chlorella... even a shot of wheatgrass with it is nice.

the m/c isn't for everyone... but that doesn't make it a bad or unhealthy choice. there's lots of people who do great on a m/c. guess you are just not one of them. :D

oh well, it is what it is.

i'm packing 4 litres of juice with me today. i know i have one litre at work in the freezer so i should be good for the day. i have lots of different 'love' teas packed up as well.

i keep looking at my chlorella and thinking... hmmm i think today is a chlorella day! :D

Also on Day 3, am doing Master Cleanse. I agree that the MC is probably not as healthful as a juice feast but I am doing it as a way to cleanse and prepare my body, mind, and spirit for RAW foods, green juices and green smoothies. I was having cravings last night for the family's dinner but I got through it. Am feeling pretty good- I am at a lower weight this am than I have been in a loooonnnngggg time. :) I truly love how easy this is. I don't have to think about menus or recipes, food prep or dishes. I just drink the lemonade when I'm hungry and it works. That really surprises me for some reason. I guess I'm so used to being 'hungry' constantly, that when something this simple works-- I'm stoked!

This is day 3 for me.

I was crabby and tired the past two days. Probably a result of my dietary excesses and grevious sins during vacation... this is why I'm fasting! :p

Smooth Move tea last night... that helped a bit!

Now, just lots of lovely filtered water. :)

i'm not feeling 100%... just had some watered down rhubarb/apple/parsley/ginger juice. been sipping on it all morning and just adding more water all the time. eventually it'll be coloured water LOL

i love the freedom of fasting as well. not having to think about food is such a beautiful gift!

Hi everyone! I was invited to join this thread by a couple of you :)

I"m doing the master cleanse and I'm on day 1. I feel horrible. Keep in mind I was smoking before this and drinking coffee two-three times a day. I was only smoking like 2 ciggs a day, but smoking is smoking. SO needless to say my head is throbbing. I hope I feel better soon! The swf made me S sick I was like "I can't do this!" and once it came out I felt tons better. I have to go make dinner for the family...I really dont want to though. I just feellike laying there and vegetating, but I have a toddler and 3 pets and teh house to take care of...oh and the hubby. Bleh, anyhow hello! :)

I saw this post after I replied to your other post... I can definitely relate to your headaches. When I started my 4 day MC on April 27, I had still been drinking 1 cup of coffee a day and went cold turkey for the MC. My headaches were HORRIBLE (and worse yet... I've quit and started coffee again MANY times! Despite the headaches!). I just rode it out this time, though, not taking any pain reliever because I'm trying to get rid of the toxins not add more in, ya know? I don't know what else to say but that it WILL stop (usually 2-3 days) and then it will be over! It's not the MC but the caffeine withdrawal that's giving you the headaches (and probably making you tired too). Hot baths and Epsom salts in the bath might help as well as extra sleep. I don't smoke so I can't help you with that.

About the SWF... I know it's gross but I learned recently about drinking it with a STRAW! Still gross but SO MUCH EASIER!!! I just gulp it down as fast as I can . Also, I find that the SWF is usually much more effective starting on day 2 when there is less food in the system. You will be shocked at what comes out even after not eating for days.....

One other tip I can think of right now is to try to remember to rinse out your mouth with water after drinking the lemonade. The first time I ever did it, I didn't do that and by day 3 or 4 my teeth were HURTING from the acid in the lemon juice! So, now I rinse and it's OK.

Day 3 is coming to a close...
Hungry today. Sigh.
And, I made a bunch of raw goodies for my DH, as he is still eating... I managed to make things without tasting any of them! I amazed myself.

Strange... I spotted today, and I don't think it's that time of the month... I think I got too much dairy while on vacation (I'm horribly sensitive to dairy hormones). Well, this fast will clear that all out, right? Right! :)

I feel horrible :( just horrible. I have a migraine that will not go away, I've had it since yesterday. I was gonna quit last nigh because Im really stressed out, too much going on a deadline for big client coming up and iM not even halfway done with what I have to do. BUt All my lemons are here and i's just not worth it starting over...not sre if food was gonna help me in this time of stress anyway lol. So here I am. I haven't had my morning lemonade, I'll go fix that in a minute (I work late so wake up late). I'm not quite sure I can do this for 10 days though!

I dunno if it's just me, but my skin feels so soft. Could be "a placebo" effect :p

What helps me is not to think about the 10 days. Just take it one day at a time. I tell myself that I quit anytime I want and it helps get me thru another day.

Now on day 4 and feeling as good as new. Colonic last night helped. Again, I don't have an end date in mind. Just sticking to it one day at a time.

Katnip - I've read that, if you get a bad headache during the MC (which it sounds like you are doing), be sure to do the Salt water flush each day... also, you could do an enema (or colon hydrotherapy, if you have a place nearby where you can get one). Headaches are associated with clogs, in my understanding.

Me, I'm outta here for now. I think my week of vacation so threw me out of balance, that I'm still not hitting that stage in fasting where I feel good. I just feel worse and worse. I'm drinking very dilute wheatgrass juice now. I think I need to be nourished for awhile (physically and emotionally).

Hi all
I am also on Day 4 and feeling great, actually! Much better than yesterday. Funny, I did the SWF this am but had skipped it yesterday am... wonder if that's a clue? Yesterday I, too, was feeling like I couldn't make it and today I'm on top of the world (so far at least).

Aleesha- I also notice something changes in my eyes when I am Raw for long periods of time and I also noticed it again when I did my previous (short) MC recently. They are just clear and blue like I can see into my soul thru them. The first time I noticed it I cried, I was so moved! And I'm nowhere near your progress! I also wanted to say that even though I haven't been posting too much I have followed this site for a long time and when I saw your most recent pics- I almost fell out of my chair! Way to go!!!!!!! What an inspiration!

kat, okay first off... drink more water. try to get your intake as close to 4 litres (quarts) as you can. i drink right out of mason jars that way i know when i've had 4. this will greatly assist with removing those toxins o-u-t and bring in more relief. i don't know anything about the m/c... but i do know about fasting in general and more water always assists when detox is intense.

as for making it ten days. who cares how many days you do... today is the only day that counts. as a matter of fact... THIS moment is the only one that counts. if you feel horrid right now, know that could change at anytime and focus on what you need right now. do you need to take a moment to breathe? perhaps go for a walk and clear your head. how about taking a nice long bath with some epsom salts and aromatherapy - cinnamon is excellent while fasting by the way! focus on you - in this moment - and allow everything else to gently come into place. i'm not telling you to ignore all your responsibilities forever... just for this moment. cause right now... YOU need YOU.

as for your skin being soft... my hubby loves that i fast so much. he loooooooves how soft my skin is now. ;)

Hi all
I am also on Day 4 and feeling great, actually! Much better than yesterday.

What an inspiration!

see how you can change how you are feeling on a fast from one day (or one hour) to the next!

ah... so you've seen the eyes... and i can tell you 'get' it. isn't it soooooo amazzzing.

and thanks for your comments about my pics. tonight we ran into someone who hasn't seen me for about 6 months and she was saying how thin my face is. i thanked her. it was kinda funny... she looked at me like she expected me to say more than that... there was a silence and then the questions started LOL people see how healthy i am, how full of life i am... and they just a want a piece of it for themselves. i tell them all... it's simple. so simple.

and yet they see it as complicated. i don't. for me... juicing a LOT and eating mono here and there is about as simple as i can make it. and this is what makes me happy... simple. ahhhhhh bliss!!!

a little update for you all. as you know, i'm a juicetarian now... no longer looking at my days as "fasting" cause heck... i'm doing it so much LOL things are balancing out in my life sooooooo much. i can't believe the difference in how i view food now. i no longer look at it and 'want it all' when i am eating. now i see eating the same as i did before i started fasting.

you have to remember... i've only eaten for longer than a week once in the past year... so eating isn't something i do a lot of. LOL it's nice to have this amazing balance in my world. i'm soooooo glad i listened and changed the way i view my lifestyle. AND i'm very very pleased to have such a supportive hubby. (((hugs)))

had a lovely apple/parsley/rhubarb juice today. lots of chlorella as well. i can't seem to get enough of that stuff lately!

Wow! Do you mind my asking if your intentions are to stay that way (juicetarian) or, are you trying to get to a certain level of health/detox? Just curious because I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone doing it like that before, and it's obviously working for you.

Aleesha Sattva
05-14-2009, 11:43 PM
My intentions are 'this moment'. In this moment, I love to allow my body to not eat... but rather to consume my nutrients through juice and water. I also allow my body to take in (usually mono) food when it asks for it. I find it kinda go in short cycles (the eating part) and then the juice part in longer periods.

I'll continue to do this until I find that I am no longer doing it LOL I have no real 'plan' other than to love life in every moment.

Honestly... I figure I've detoxed pretty significantly. I Reiki myself daily... have a lot of attunements (which detox) - plus I've juice fasted a lot in the last year. I've done some other fasts before that as well... but from Mother's Day 2008 - Mother's Day 2009 I fasted over 250 days. So finding health and detox are not my focus.

Day 5 today :D

I feel great- so light and full of CLARITY!

Aleesha, I had a feeling that's what you were going to say! ;) You have given me A LOT to think about. Thanks for all that you do in sharing your successes and your information. I only know a teeny tiny bit about Reiki but I think I'm gonna start learning about it!

I know that this is all a process and that it takes time but honestly, I am gradually seeing this (raw, fasting, health, etc) as something completely different than how I've seen it before. I WANT to do this more than I WANT the alternative. My body WANTS IT, TOO! I can't even explain the enormous difference in how much better I feel right now. I had been really suffering recently, prior to my first MC attempt at the end of April. Horrible stomach pains, no energy, etc. Every time that I ate, It HURT. So, I feel like I'm definitely on the right path and looking forward to this journey! Especially with all the support here... thanx everybody!

Unfortunatley I cannot putthis off (my work) but after Im done sunday night I will just evgetate and read Alissas's book (I thinkit's here have to go check my mail :D )

Last night I had to take ibuprofen. I felt like a "Cheater" and really felt upset that I was going against what the MC is for, but I have a family to care for and work. I couldnt even move cuz of the migraine. The migrane shrunk to a small headache and it's doable. This morning, I have aslight headache, but nothing stronger, so it doenst look like I'll have to take anything else. yey!

I'm on day 3 now....and feeling pretty dang good. Not hungry at all. I'm really looking forward to finishing this cleanse and welcome the RAW way of life in my home. :) You guys are VERY supportive, I think I found my new internet home ;)

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MAMA that hits the spot for me!!!

i also surprised myself with another watermelon juice LOL i think my hubby made a few litres as a surprise since he knows i love them so much, cause i don't remember putting any into the freezer. *ponders this and smiles*

Thanks, Aleesha! I like it, too.

I have made it half way through my 10 day MC and I have to say this morning is the worst I have felt so far... I feel weak and dizzy! I think it's because yesterday I got so busy and I only ended up drinking 2 glasses of the lemonade- obviously not enough. My weight loss slowed also... interesting. I'm not doing this (MC) for the weight loss, though, as much as the 'cleansing' (which is definitely happening here!) ... the weight loss will come as I stay on my path with raw foods, increased movement, positive thinking, etc. But, I don't want to freak my body out and cause it to go into starvation mode or anything... anyway I've decided to up the lemonades for today and see how I feel later. I'm sure this will pass. I am dedicated to giving this my all and seeing thru the 10 days to meet my goal. Positive thoughts!

I have found that when I drink less... I release less weight. If you want to increase your weight release, increase your water as well. Try to keep it around the 4 litre per day mark. (litre = quart)

I'm on day two of my fast. It's not strictly water, but more just liquids, some lemonade, tea, etc., just no solid food. I will admit that I'm still an avid scale user so I jumped on it (as is my usual) this morning and found I'd dropped THREE POUNDS since yesterday! Holy moly! I am doing this as a combination weight loss (I have - at this point - 35 more pounds to lose) so I can get my HBP under control, and to also help me overcome my cravings. I found yesterday that they weren't so bad as long as I kept myself full of water/liquids. I drank aLOT of water/lemonade yesterday. As I've seen suggested, I'm just going to take this a day at a time and see how it goes.

I have been (except yesterday) doing lemonade/ water/ lemonade/ water... etc throughout the day. Today I am going to keep track of exactly how much water I'm drinking and try to get to 4 litres. I have this feeling that I am about to release a lot, if I can just stay focused and on track. So today: more lemonade and LOTS more water!!!! I'll keep ya posted! :)

Oh, and Hi Zoocrew, we were posting at the same time. Nice to have you here!

Yes, one day at a time is a good outlook and the more days you do it, the easier it is. I also am addicted to my scale but one addiction at a time, right? This fast has really toned down my cravings, too-- I can't even imagine eating greasy chips or bread or any of my other past downfalls right now! YUK!

as for the scale... this is what i've found (for me personally) when i fast:

when i weight myself daily... i get very inspired when the scale drops

BUT

when the scale only moves .1 of a pound or doesn't change at all... i can get very discouraged and has caused me to break my fast in the past EVEN WHEN I WASN'T FASTING FOR WEIGHT RELEASE.

so... i highly recommend you weight yourself once a week. pick a day, any day and stick with that. this way... you'll always be inspired!!!

H all! I'm still hanging in there ast day 4 cmes to an end. I had a very very slight headache today, I'm feeling great. I think I have officially gotten rid of my coffee and cigarette addiction. I don't crave either! woohoo! I have also gotten rid of my sleep aid dependency. I know it has alot to do with no caffeine, but it was a horrible crutch of mine. I slept SO good last night even though I only had 6 hours of sleep, I didnt wake up at all. :D

I'm not having alot of "detoxing signs" though. I"m not having any solid poop or anything that resembles poop lol (sorry TMI ). Just water the swf goes right through and nothing. I'm a little disappointed as I was hoping to really clean everything out. Is this normal for a first timer?

katnip, I'm so glad to see that you're still hanging in there (especially with that other thread drama going on LOL)! Really, this is a wonderful place so keep focused on that!

I am still having 'poop-like' stuff come out in the am before and after my SWF- maybe my colon is more congested than yours? I have had years of problems with constipation, though. But-- wait a minute-- when I did the MC 15 years ago I wasn't constipated, but I remember still pooping for several days.... I don't know about that!?? The person who taught me the MC all those years ago had told me that the goal of the cleanse was to get to where you only had clear water coming out with the SWF- if it was clear, then you were cleaned out. Mine's definitely not clear. (sorry everyone if TMI) Are you also taking the laxative tea at night? (I use smooth move) Whatever is going on-- I know your body appreciates getting rid of the coffee and cigarettes and is enjoying the break from digesting. Isn't it SO MUCH BETTER without the coffee headaches?

I had an up and down day yesterday. First I felt bad- weak, etc. I drank 2 lemonades right away and felt instantly better. I made up a whole pitcher of them without the cayenne and that made it easier to drink. I had been making them individually and maybe that was stopping me from drinking as much as I should have the other days. Also I focused on how much water I was drinking... I only got to about 60 oz-- about 2 liters.. I will keep trying to add more... as it was, by the end of the day, I was in the bathroom peeing about every 10 minutes! DH and I were watching a movie--- thank goodness for the pause button!

Hi Dread head! :)

lynnc-- WOW 10 feet of mucoid plaque-- ok, ok I might have to learn more about the PB shakes! What is up with that!!?? Please tell me more if you don't mind?

Feeling great again-- everyone have a GREAT day!

Hey folks, I just jumped over here from the MC thread. I'm starting into day 1 of the MC right now so I'm glad I've got comrades out there!

For the record, my goal on the MC is a true cleanse, not weight loss alone as we all know that most people will regain their weight after the cleanse. Here are the two reasons I've started into the MC:

1) I am pretty confident I have some form of chronic sinusitis/sinus polyps, despite an ENT telling me years ago I was OK with the MRI in hand. The last ten years of my life have not been really lived -- always feeling tired, even when 100% raw, always wanting to sleep, soreness behind the eyes, pressure on the cheeks, constant dull headache. Totally miserable. If the MC fails to help clear up my sinuses and allow me to enjoy life again, I will have to go to see a whole lot of doctors to use scorched earth (medicine) to fight it. I'd prefer the holistic path. Here's hoping, MC!

2) I've been working out for 6 weeks now, 3x/week during the first 3 weeks and then 6x/week during the second 3 weeks, but my weight has been completely constant, even when I was 100% raw for over half of that time. Each workout was also high intensity (CrossFit 3x/week). Historically I'd drop 1lb/day on raw vegan until I normalize around 185, but this time around my body just refused to drop any weight. I'm hoping the MC will shake things loose inside and let me get back on track.

Right now I've got to wait for my 1 quart of super hot water to cool to "warm" so I can add 2 tsp of sea salt and start drinking. I'm also working my way through "The Complete Master Cleanse" as my reference. Onward!

12:00pm: the internal salt bath tasted pretty good actually! It was like sipping a very salty soup. Not bad. 30-45 minutes later after the inevitable purge, I made my first lemonade. Not bad either! I've set my iPhone's timer to go off every 60 minutes so I can make a new glass full.

I had to bail out on mine but I'll be back again when I can! The headache was getting so bad I knew it was going to go into loss of vision, etc (ya know, the splotchies, and flashies) so I knew I had to stop and get some meds into me before it got realllly bad. I wish you all well on your fasts! I wish I could have made mine a go but 1 3/4 days is better than none!

Lucy - way to go! Glad you're feeling good.

Rae - the 8-day Ultimate Fast is summarized here: http://www.curezone.com/faq/q.asp?a=92,634&q=41. I had read somebody on this forum (RFT is awesome!) say that they got rid of "buckets" of mucoid plaque on this fast. My first attempt, I didn't take enough PB I think; only took 3 per day. It's really this time that I stuck with 4 per day (increase to 1 Tbsp of psyllium instead of the 1 tsp recommended) throughout and it worked it's magic. Also, I didn't take any laxative tea or SWF this time around. Last time, I took senna tea and it was too strong for me.

I broke my fast on day 7. I'm proud to have stuck to it longer this time. Last time was only 4 days. I guess I fell for the trap of having to see the output (mucoid plaque) in order to stick to the fast. Once the MP slowed down, I got discouraged. Of course, I didn't heed your advice and instead opted to learn the lesson the hard way.

Conservatively, the grand total is 13 feet of MP. There are 20 ft of small intestines in the human body, so the rest will come out next time.

Thanks to Aleesha and everyone for your support. I wouldn't have done it without your inspiration and support!

Aleesha, I have been wanting to ask you (and forgive me if you already answered this somewhere else :o) but do you take any omega 3 source like oils or hemp seed? Just curious!

Yes I do. I make sure that once a week I add a tsp of hemp or flax oil to a juice, minimum.

Good to hear you are pooping... that is so important!

Neither of these produced the desired results - I am just plain 'ol regular...no cramps, no "gotta go now", what happened to the "flush" all the gunk out???! I even nearly doubled the Himalayan sea salt the next night - with no exciting results....

Yes, I followed the lemonade chugging & mixture to the T....

Had higher hopes for results...

LotsaRaw, what day of the MC are you on? I'm on day 3 now -- the amount exiting my body has dropped and whatever is left is all liquid now. The morning internal salt water bath definitely gets me going in <45 minutes. The rest of the day is nothing "gotta go now" dramatic I'm afraid.

Lotsa Raw, what day are you on? I find it works better as the cleanse progresses, as your system gets emptier. I don't know about doubling the salt though, it's supposedly a ratio that counterbalances something in the intestines, making it so that it doesn't get absorbed by the system (as would, say, a salty tomato juice type beverage) but rather goes right through, not ABLE to be absorbed. I find 2 heaping tsp works best for me, though (He says level tsp in the book). Keep trying, I have had times where it didn't do anything for me and also once felt like the water got 'stuck' in there until the next am, but it really does work! Good luck!

Dread Head- keep going, you'll feel great in no time! "The only way over it is through it" :)

Today is Day 8 for me and I think I mentioned I'm driving to California on Friday (10 hour drive). Problem is, I started this thinking I would stop at day 10 and start light eating on the trip down and back... but now I just want to keep going!!!! This is the best I have felt in such a looooonnnnggg time. I feel like I have set a cosmic 'RESET' button and I don't want it to end... BUT... I don't want to endanger myself or my family in the car driving either! (I'll be the only driver)... ANY THOUGHTS??

On day 4...no "gotta go" sensations at all so far...I still have normal BMs around 9 am and 1:30 pm and 7 pm (told ya - totally regular) The amount has definitely tapered off, but my body seems to be so hard wired to "go" at these times, trying to force it into a new routine is not working! And most of my liquids seems to continue to be processed by my kidneys/bladder. Not sure it this is good or bad. (Several years ago took Fleet for a colonoscopy and what was supposed to have me cleaned out by 10 pm kept me up from 12:30-4:30 am!)

Hope everyone is doing well!

I am on Day 10 of my Master Cleanse! I did it! I decided how to handle my California dilemma... I will break the fast tomorrow with orange juice, then do juice Friday am and I'm going to pack green smoothies for Friday and Saturday. I will also bring some organic fruit, so perfect and easy solution. It will be so much easier for me to stay on my path that way instead of being overwhelmed by too many food choices.

As I conclude this I realize that I am hooked and will definitely do this again. I think maybe saving the Master Cleanse for if I ever get too far off track again (lets hope not) and for the winter when there isn't this abundance of fresh fruits and veggies available for juicing, blending or whatever. But I definitely want to do a green smoothie 'fast' and a juice feast and possibly even try intermittent fasting which I just learned about.

Thanks to everyone- you really helped me accomplish this and I feel SO SO SO SO good! I'll be back when I do my next fast! :D

Awesome job Raediance! How do you feel differently from when you started? Were there any "oh wow" moments and on what days?

I'm on day 4 now. Down 6 lbs since I started, i.e. 2 lbs/day. I felt pretty good this morning. I have to admit the taste of the lemonade isn't as appealing anymore, not sure if it's the lemon itself or the maple syrup. But, other than that and minor hunger pangs, I'm doing fine.

Thanks, futureboy! I feel SO different! Before this, I was definitely on a 'down' spiral- having had a tremendously stressful year, I was stuck- addicted to foods I know aren't good for me and yet unable to get back on track. I am a vegetarian for sure and morally a vegan but I was even allowing small amts of dairy into my body  I am 99% sure I am celiac or at least extremely gluten sensitive and I was compulsively eating breads, chips, crap, etc. I felt HORRIBLE and now I feel GREAT! Like I said previously, I feel like I pushed a cosmic reset button. I have a much deeper appreciation for simple foods and simple eating. I have NO desire whatsoever to put anything like that in my body ever again or to feel that pain ever again!!

Too many Oh Wow moments to mention, but mostly just feeling calmer and more at peace in the universe than I have felt in so long. I have released 17 lbs total (that is with a 4 day MC, a few days in between and then the last 9 days) but that isn't even the best part!

About the lemonade, that started happening to me, too! Around day 4 or 5 actually, I started adding only 1/2 the amount of maple syrup (so, 2T lemon juice, 1 T maple syrup, water, cayenne) and it made it much more palatable to me at that point for some reason. Overall, on some days I barely got down 2 glasses, most days it was 6-8 glasses but yesterday I could not get enough of it! I just drank tons of it and only then started adding more syrup back in, craving the extra sugar.

Today I feel TIRED! Like I am fully ready to break the fast tomorrow. I actually slept for about a 4 hour nap and my DH had to drag me out of bed at 9pm (to watch American Idol :o )

Congrats to you! keep it up! I have nothing but positive thoughts about the MC, will definitely do it again and would recommend it to anyone. ENJOY!!

Great to hear Raediance! I feel much better now after having read your post.

I'm going to half the maple syrup tomorrow. I actually had a second SWF today because I just wanted something else in taste :) I hope I have a bunch of Oh Wow moments--I can't wait to experience them! My coworkers think I'm crazy but I'm cool with it all. :P Day 5 starts in about 10 minutes for me, so I'm finishing up my herbal laxative tea for the night and off to hit the sack.

Hello all! I am on day 1 of a 30 day juice fast. I have done a 7 day MC before but this is my first longer fast. I was pleasently surprised at how good I felt while on the MC. I am hoping that with the variety of veggie/fruit juices, it will be fairly easy to stick with a longer one. The apple/zuchinni juice I had this morning was awesome!!! I am using this to kick off a mostly raw/vegan long-term lifestyle. I also using it to kick off my weight loss. I look forward to getting to know you all over the next month!

Cool, I'm going to power through. This may actually be a healing crisis! Sweet!

11 AM update: I got to page 96 in The Complete Master Cleanse and he mentions how you should check your tongue to see the build-up of plaque, as supposedly the tongue is a barometer of toxicity in the body. I checked it out -- woh, lots of plaque! Fortunately the edges of my tongue are pinkish now, so according to this source the plaque should start receding over the next few days. Onward!

1:30 PM update: feeling much better in the afternoon after having a few more lemonades. Shouldn't have had the second SWF yesterday evening, that was a bad idea. :)

Good deal Katie, I've actually had urges to stop drinking the juice and switch to straight water, but the book reminds me to avoid those temptations and just keep drinking juice. I'm drinking around 10 glasses/day so I'm hoping it counts for something.

3 hours left to the end of day 5! I'm almost completely past the 50% mark. I'm hoping today is better than today which was definitely the worst so far. My coworkers think I'm insane but dammit I've already made 5 days so onward!

I'm on day 6 and today is going very well! I didn't feel like absolute garbage as I did on day 5. Energy levels are overall better, and my "releases" have actually increased today somehow. Starting weight was 210, I'm now down to 200 today and all signs are pointing to a continued loss of 2 lbs/day, which is 2x weight loss rates on raw vegan or juice feast. I understand it's almost entirely water weight but in theory that water is carrying lots of bad toxins out!

Cravings for food have started to decrease. I do look forward to the day of having some delicious vegan stuff again, but I'm not in any serious pain at the moment.

I have been lurking around here for awhile - and I am FINALLY ready to jump into a fast. I have been in an emotional, spiritual and physical rut for a long time and I am ready to move forward. Fasting has been calling to me for a really long time - so today is officially day one for me. This is my first fast and I am planning on going 10 days. I am excited, nervous, scared, delighted ..... all at the same time. I am thrilled to be going through this with all of you -- even though I know the journey is mine. I am planning on doing a juice fast, not quite ready for all water. So, the journey begins!

I'm on day 7 of MC. I was tempted today to quit since they are serving tasty veggies burgers downstairs, but I said NO! 70% through and I'm not pulling out.

Updates on physical:
* I do feel really cold today, much colder than usual. Maybe the AC is turned down inside the office, or I'm a little more sensitive to it? I'm going to have go outside and read a book in the delightful California sunshine later.
* I do also feel weaker, like opening heavier doors seems tougher.
* Stuffy nose again, people keep telling me I sound nasal. Others who know I'm on the MC are worried about my immune system. This is usually the point where others will quit and say they are sick, but others also say this is a healing crisis and it's normal to experience all of this.

On the plus side, I'm down 10lbs since I started and overall I'm feeling OK. I haven't experienced any euphoric "oh wow" moment like some others, but I've also been raw for 30 day stretches and have never experienced that physical/emotional detox that everyone talks about. So, take what I say with a grain of salt.

Hey folks, last day on the MC! Total weight lost: 12 lbs. I'm actually a little bit sad that my time on the cleanse is ending -- I've almost gotten attached to the freedom associated with not worrying about eating too much or too little or the right stuff, and just making my lemonade.

The good news: this morning I was able to do three wide-grip pullups! Before when I was 12 lbs heavier I couldn't even do one, but every day on the cleanse I've been trying them and around day 5 I got 1, then on day 7 I got 2, and now I've finally made 3. Also, an area of skin right next to my nose has been reddish for months and nothing I've put on it helped; today I'm glad to say it's cleared up! I do feel overall pretty content with myself at the moment, and I'm a little bit frightened to start eating again, especially given all the problems associated with it when you're trying to get into top physical shape.

The bad: my uber sinus pressure has not entirely gone away. I don't feel it that much this morning, but I definitely am not experiencing the euphoria I was expecting to feel once it was cleared. I can't blame the MC though -- I've tried raw foods and juice feasts before but nothing has fixed it. So, I'll have to let Big Medicine take a shot at it possibly with surgery.

I've had a good experience on this cleanse and I'm really proud I was able to make it. I certainly may try something like it again in the future when I have more downtime, but for now I've got a glidepath back into the world of solid food eaters. I think it's also a fantastic way to kickstart a raw vegan lifestyle. After finishing the MC, I really have no desire to eat anything other than fresh fruits, veggies & nuts. The thought of a hamburger or slice of pizza nauseates me.

Hey folks, I've finally returned to the world of solid food again. I was sad to do it, although my first orange tasted fantastic. I am returning to HRAV diet (high raw all vegan), and I had some delicious vegan soup, but I felt super bloated afterward. Sadly, a few hours later, I could only do one wide-grip pullup. It's like all that energy and strength was taken away!

No worries, I have hope now that I can do them in the future. Best of luck to you fasters out there! Don't give up. (also after day 8 or so it was really easy as I got used to it)

Rachel

You can drink as much as you desire whenever you desire. I do suggest, however that you slow down after 6pm so you can go through the night without having to pee every hour LOL I consume anywhere from 1 litre to 6 litres in a day... I just go with the flow... if my body wants juice, I give it juice. If it just wants water... I give it water. Either way I always drink between 2-4 litres of water a day as well.

Hi everyone!

I've never done any fast before. I've planned to begin with a short water fast, beginning tomorrow (Friday) and ending four days later, on next Monday. My advantage is that I will be alone at home for this week end, so, no temptation. I think this will be a good test because I'm thinking about a longer water fast in August and I will see how I will be able to manage hunger and detox symptoms. I'll try to report to this thread during my fast and will share the results.

Hi All! So good to hear that everyone's enjoying their fasting. I got back from California and I must say I did pretty good... didn't stay all raw but did stay all vegan and gluten free ( but I think some gluten slipped in there some how yesterday and boy did I feel it!). After releasing 18 lbs on my master cleanse, then off for a week, I have only gained back 1.5 lbs! :D

The good news is....I am ready for more fasting/feasting! Starting tomorrow, I am going to do all green smoothies and green juices for 21 days or possibly longer. I think 21 days is a good place to start after my success with 10 days. I also plan to incorporate much more movement than I was doing on the MC... I think I should feel more energy and more motivated than on the MC (just couldn't do too much exercise!- felt mentally energized but physically tired)

i'm not sure why you are choosing to take vitamins while you fast... but if there's no specific reason for it, i suggest you stop while you are fasting. ;)

Hi. I take these because I gave my blood two weeks ago and the body needs a least between 3 weeks and a month to recreate what's missing. That's why I take these (there's iron in it). There's also a placebo effect I'd say, since I was a bit afraid of trying a water fast for the first time. That's why.

Concerning my first day. I drank two bottles of water, plus a cup of tea and a cup of water with one table spoon of epsom salt (felt really tired and hoped that magnesium could help. I also figured that this salt really helped with the sensation of thirst).

I woke up several times tonight, not because of hunger (needed to get all that water out :) ) plus I had a slight headache and felt light headed all the afternoon and the evening. I felt tired and went to bed early.
This morning (beginning of my day two) the feeling has disappeared for the moment.
I have experienced no other detox symptom except my tongue coated in white. Maybe that's because my body is being accustomed to raw and had already detoxed a lot with my new life style.
I'm wondering about including some juice in my fast for the remaining days. I'll see.

I don't do this fast for loosing weight, but really to test myself and help my body heal all the problems created by 24 years of eating SAD. This short fast will certainly be followed by a longer water or juice fast in August (at least 15-20 days).

Keep being motivated everyone. Our health is worth it.

AlooooHA all!!! I'm starting a Master Cleanse June 2nd (day after hula) that will give me a week to adjust so that I can participate at hula without feeling weak.

I'm looking forward to this cleanse -- I will be celebrating LIFE, love and JOY as I go forth to RECLAIM by body!!!

Hi everyone!

Fasting accomplished. I'm so glad I achieved my goal! This was my first fast ever, and Today, I will break it as planned, since I don't feel any detox feeling this morning.

In only 3 full days of water fast, my skin got much clearer and is now really smooth, my scar on the leg changed colour and seems to be healing quicker, and I lost 7 pounds even though I didn't feel that hungry (drank a lot and I think I have a slow metabolism). That's just incredible. And my mind feels really clearer too.

So, for the two next days, I'm planning to eat lightly, in order not to stress my digestive process, and I'll be back gradually to my normal raw lifestyle.

Thank you Aleesha for the support, it was greatly appreciated.

So today's 3 of the MC. Yesterday I went to bed around 2 Am and woke up at 7Am. Surprisingly I'm not tired at all but more calm and clear then I have been in a long time. Only downside is that I have a preemptive headache starting to form but that's ok. On the plus my tongue is starting to get a white coating on it and the giant symmetrical bumps that let me know that I'm detoxing.

My personal interpretation of my SAD diet (compared to 2x on MC and raw) is that it is overly stimulating. I guess the best way to describe it would be restlessness, or a type of non-focused caffeine high that pushes you to blurt out stuff.

This morning waking up was the first time in a long time that I remember waking up from a DEEP sleep. Total peace and serenity.

ATM I"m extremely sensitive to my body and it seems that these few detox symptoms may not be the last. This thread may be my life support for the next couple days lol.

that's the point of this thread... to keep you focused and allow you to feel like you aren't alone in your process. (((hugs)))

your headache is also a detox symptom... be gentle with yourself. be sure to drink lots of water.

congrats frenchie on your fast! i'm so pleased you achieved your goal... it's very empowering!

Today I went to 3 different pharmacies and asked if they sold enema kits (I know, unpleasant). Not one of them even knew what it was and one guy asked if it was some sort of test to see if you had anemia. Another guy kindly recommended that I visit GNC to see if they had it.

Goes to show you how helpful the consultation window for these health care professionals are.

I know it's only day 3 but I'm feeling absolutely amazing. I'm very eager to see how the rest of this fast goes ^^.

Hi all! WooHoo to all the faster/cleansers out there!!
I am a veteran MC er. I do the MC 4 times a year I've been doing that for the past 6 years. I learned to cleanse from an Amish healer years ago.

However this year I have been slacking. A LOT ... in a lot of areas of my life.
The result ... a few unwanted pounds, acne, arthritis, colon problems and bad pms. Then add negative thoughts and a poor attitude. Not a good place at all.
I am disabled due to all my health issues. Crohns and RA. In the past they really got me down I was sick 24/7. I was heading that way again its a rapid cycle. First I eat bad, get sick, bad thoughts, get sicker, slack spiritually, get sicker. A viscous cycle.
The only time I feel good is when I eat raw and after a few days into a cleanse.

I am now on day 5 of the MC with clay and fiber. I had a bad headache and severe body pains until today. Thank God right now I feel great. Very happy, no pain.

This year I was also slipping a lot spiritually. Then my LT boyfriend got saved. Talk about doing a 180. He went from wanting a three way with my GF's (which never happened) to having a 3 way with the Father Son and Holy Spirit.
I like him more like this. He has softened and the focus of the relationship has changed. He even did the MC for 7 days. That was huge!

Watching my bf makes me want to be a better person. Clean up certain areas of my life.
Instead of complaining about the few bad things in my life look at the good. The good by far outweighs the bad. I am really blessed. I need to never forget that.

I live in paradise, I am sitting on the front porch with my laptop watching my horses. There's a slight breeze. I live on a small horse farm down a dirt road, 3 miles from the beach and a half a mile to stores.

This cleanse has a lot of meaning for me. I want to go 30 plus days. The most I've ever cleansed was 15. I want to do a few gall bladder cleanses too.

I made a daily check off list which includes, skin brushing, tongue cleaning, tanning, ride my horse daily, pray and a few personal things.

I am glad I read this thread. I need a place for support and to write a short story. :)

Happy Fasting .... Cibra

That's funny that you mentioned the Amish healer, cuz when I got my maple syrup from a bunch of Amish guys. When I talked about a "diet" and picked up the gallon jug he asked me if I was doing the MC. Apparently his dad does it twice a year and he even gave me a discount. Weird huh?

Pregnancy eyes huh? How's being pregnant while raw (I don't wanna go off topic, but i'm curious)? Any challenges?

Day 4...... I woke up today and I felt completely at peace. Is this normal? I felt so serene that I thought maybe my heart was going to stop beating, or I'd fall into an eternal coma if I didn't get up. Is this what good sleep feels like?

My normally always congested sinuses are draining for the first time in months. No more weird stomach tension as of yet and not even a remote sign of hunger.

The MC experiment continues....

There seem to be so many different threads on fasting but I think this will be the one I'll follow while doing the Master Cleanse for the 3rd time. It's 3:45 a.m. though, so I think I'll try - again - to fall asleep, and come back here tomorrow. This time I want to complete 30 days of the MC. I did it effortlessly once before for a little over 30 days. Felt great and lost around 22 lbs.

hi everyone!

Just joining the thread... i'm on day 7 of my master cleanse. hoping to go for 20 days this time. I feel amazing right now. I 'haven't had any real signs of detox pain yet, nor have i been hungry at all.

a few questions for more experienced MCers...

any advice on what to tell people who criticize/worry about my protein intake during this cleanse?

will adding wheatgrass shots to the MC mess up the efficiency of it or make me feel hungry?

thanks everyone!! good luck with your own journeys.

Good luck on the MC both of you guys.

I do have a question though for you experience MC'ers (kinda graphic: Reader discretion is advised).

So it's day 5 and after the SWF it seems like there's still stuff in my colon. There are still M&M sized bits that are in there, as well as "dust" which seems to turn the saltwater to mud.

Is this normal? Should the SWF stay crystal clear as it makes the journey through the body, or is this some sort of mal side of my condition? Yesterday night I drank a double brewed senna tea (cuz day 4 was my first time trying it and wanted to make sure) and immediately I started noticing some mild effects. 5 hours later I had pretty intense stomach "pains" which made me hop to it.

If anybody could let me know what's goin on I would really appreciate it.

islesgirl
06-04-2009, 08:07 AM
Tsurogi Oni - I did this the first time a couple of years ago, I did it for a little over 30 days and the "mud" was still coming out. This time I want to go until it is clear if at all possible. From what I've read in the past this is normal - many call it "butt pee". TMI? sorry but that is what this is all about.:D

So its 1:40 am and I just got back home from hanging with a couple friends and fishing. Earlier today I had to transport 150+ 20lb bricks to a car (one in each hand, all by hand). Then from the car to a wheelbarrel, and then to the backyard. All part of a garden construction project.

After all that work I thought I was going to die. But to my astonishment I was not the least bit tired. Instead of getting a sore "I'm going to die!!!!" feeling I have a mild drained effect.

Also just a second ago I had this weird stool. It was like long stringy feathery bits (pretty normal for me) and mucus!!!!! For the first time in my life it was like snot.... how fascinating.

On the up side my stomach tension has lessened dramatically, my mood has never been higher, and I generally feel much much healthier.

And for a brief 10 minutes or so, I had an amazing mental crystal clarity that has been long forgotten.

Food cravings..... what are those? =]

*Update @ 9:30 AM* More graphic content: It seems like the "dust' has transformed into pure sludge / pudding...... some alien biomass that's been lurking in the belly of the beast. Absolute 0 soreness this morning, and my piano playing has improved dramatically (because without the constant anxiety I am much more sensitive to the sensations in my fingers and tenseness in my arms/wrist).

Hey all .... nothing like a good BM. Speaking of which I have only been going once a day it's formed and sinks. It's a mix of colors.

I got really sick 2 days ago. Wow, I threw up for a long time and a lot too. I have had a headache ever since. My periord is going to start I was wondering if that could be it.

Since I stopped doing the MC and now I am doing a water fast. Been doing that for 2 days now. I also have SM tea.

I have not lost much weight after 9 days. I am kind of surprised normally I lose a lot more. I normally don't weigh myself but I am this time. In the past I noticed by jeans size. So maybe you don't lose weight everyday.

But yesterday I was so good, I drank a lot of water, exercised by raking and loading moldy hay that got rained on. I sweated up a storm as well. I also swam for 30 minutes.

Then I get on the scale and gained 4 pounds. A scale is not a friend. I will take advise I read here and only weigh myself once a week. :)

Keep on fasting .... Cribra

hey all, i'm back! On day 12 now. I did 10 days of MC and then went through a few days where I just didn't feel like juicing anything. I transitioned to water/wheatgrass. Now, I feel like I really crave orange juice. I want to finish my 21 day fast with a combination of salt water flush each morning, water throughout the day with 1 shot of wheatgrass a day and also some fresh juiced orange juice. I know I should juice green juices, but they don't work well in my juicer, and I dislike drinking them. I'd rather just take a shot of wheatgrass.

I've heard some negative stuff about fasting with orange juice. any of this true? I feel like hey, its live enzymes whats the difference? I'm still getting some greens through the wheatgrass.

anyone have any thoughts? or fast with orange juice themselves and have good results?

But my colon is sleeping- just a few days I got some deer poop size poop, but most days nothing(except my juice color water). Hi All- I started the Liver Cleanse 2 days ago, and feel so good with just juices and smoothies that I decided to stay with it for a few more days :D. It's amazing how much easier this kind of thing has been since quitting coffee (about a month ago). That stuff made my appetite and cravings horrible, and the detox symptoms horrible too.
For some juices today, I have green apple/parsley (from Alissa's book- really good), cucumber-red pepper-carrot, hmmmm, maybe some straight up carrot...I love the green lemonade but the citrus gives me heart burn and then I want to eat to sooth it. Last night I tried to make a chinese soup kind of thing and I did bok choy, carrot, ginger, and celery, and it was just barely edible, I drank most of it,but that cabbage was too much! 4-5 quarts a day sounds expensive, I can't grow anything myself. I want to have some green smoothies for greens because my juicer wastes greens. Thanks everyone, for hanging out and fasting/feasting!

Doingitright, You should visit the before and after picture.

I lost all the weight that i needed to loose by doing raw food and eating what i want. I went raw for more energy but it was a nice bonus to lose those extra pound. I am doing this fast/feast because i just want give a good dose of nice anti-oxidant to my body to ease the digestion so it cans do more healing or whatever.

I recommend that if you are starting with this journey that you read Alissa's book and watch her dvd's. This is how i end up where i am, just eating what i want as long it was raw. Over the time, i made adjustment and now, i like simplier diet.

You may want to have a look with the simplyrawdetox manual. This is a more gentle detox and safe www.simplyraw.ca

I am not an expert with fasting/fest. This is my third attempt to do so the most i went was 9 days.

If you main focus is to lose the weight, i would go with Alissa's program first and do a fast maybe down the road.

Best wishes!

Nothing is taboo... and weight release really isn't all that much to be honest. I fasted 262 days last year and probably released a total of 20 pounds (approx). It's more about cleansing and spirituality than weight release.

BUT, that said, it can kick start you into raw and then you'll gain lots of weight release :)

Unless you fast very regularly, you weight release through the fast won't work.
It is more important to love and appreciate your body now, and then to learn to change your thinking or find other positive ways to deal with your emotions. Once you can do that(and it is a process), you will naturally release your weight- no matter what diet you choose. I love raw, so I chose high raw diet.

Been reading "The Live Food Factor" by Susan Schenck and decided to try fasting on water. I am feeling very peaceful but very weak. This is my 4th day drinking nothing but water. According to the book, one should get plenty of rest (I am sleeping very well and plenty of hours at night), but during the day I have some things I must get accomplished and I am trying to lie down as much as possible but it's hard to do. I am so very weak. I am not finished the book - it's huge! I try to read as much as I can during the day but even doing that tires me out.

The other problem is that I am not having anything in the way of bowel movements. So I am wondering how to fix this because I am worried about where all the toxins are going? I look so much better - all puffiness gone and my weight is going down by about 1 1/2 - 2 lbs a day. Don't tell me to see doc please - when I last mentioned Raw Food to my doc, he gave me a funny look and said "What is that!" (with disdain). I can't afford a health care practitioner who isn't covered by Ontario Health Insurance. We don't have insurance either. So, has anyone done this before and had these two problems? Constipation and feeling very weak? When does ones get some energy back or does it come back at all while having water only? Am wondering if maybe I should return to the Master Cleanse? What have you done about these two things? Any advice will be gratefully considered. Thanks muchly!:)

Thanks Aleesha. I think that sounds like a good idea. I also thought maybe I should go back to the Master Cleanse but use half the amount of Agave that is called for to see if I stay in Ketosis. agave is lower... but it doesn't have all the same nutritive value as the maple syrup. ;)

if you want to keep your 'digestion' low... how about green juices watered down 75%? i don't know if it would work... but it makes sense in my head. (in other words... don't assume that what i'm suggesting has any research behind it cause it doesn't)

I had about 3 glasses of the lemon water today and it gave me just enough of a boost to really help me through the afternoon, but tomorrow, I will try to cut it back to lemon water ONLY if I absolutely have to have more energy and just enough - maybe 2 glasses at most. I read this is important to do exercise the first 20 days of a fast, yesterday i skipped the exercise but not this morning and i feel fine today.

Hey everyone happy fasting! I am thinking of within the next 3 days moving to smoothies and then to fasting. I got a bladder infection and I just don't wanna go on antibiotics so I am doing cranberry smoothies, probiotics, and then maybe a couple day fast to flush my system out. Natural power, plus I've done 5 days before so I know I could handle 2-3 days :) See you all soon! :D

Good for you Firicia, you seem to have a great plan. Make sure to drink pure water, if you are up to natural healing, you can seek for reiki or something. I find that energy very powerful and work beautifully to promote a quicker recovery. In the mid time, giving a go for this fast will be good for you. I can't wait to read your progress, you will do wonderful.

One thing so strange, my vegetables juice give me thirst, lol... go figure. I suspect the celery with the natural sodium in it.

I love this combination, tomato, asparagus, cucumber and celery (it tastes like a V-8) very good, even my hubby loves that.

Hi all,
Just e-mailed who I thought was the author of the book I've been raving about "The Live Food Factor" to ask how I'd know when my body is ready to finish the fast on water. The feedback has been disappointing and confusing. She claims fasting on water is ONLY for detox as it slows down the metabolism. Well, I did want to detox as many toxins as I possible can. The book praises the fast on water to the hilt and gives so much detail. And I managed to find the answer to my question in it - apparently we should hang on until we experience genuine hunger which is something many have apparently never experienced. I won't take the space or time to go into the details at this particular moment though. And the book said that we'd lose a lot of weight - far more than on a juice feasting. So much more was said that made me feel I was on the right track but this woman doesn't even sound like she is the same person who authored the book! Had to vent. I am going to figure it out myself anyway and refer to my book again. I am still losing weight at same rate - between 1- 1 /12 lbs a day and I feel so much calmer and I have no complaints except the tiredness although I did have a couple of days when I had a ton of energy. The book explains all the reasons for these symptoms in detail and it all made so much sense to me. It kind of made me wonder who I was talking to. Anyone here want to comment on positive or negative experience with fasting on water alone? Tell me how long you did it and the benefits, please? Thanks so much.:)

water fasting is great and horrid at the same time LOL it takes HUGE dedication to do it and even more to break it properly. that said... it gives your body great detox and there really isn't anything like it.

juice fasting is more gentle but still a huge detox trip. much easier to break and tastes yummier.

so it's up to you what you want to do. (((hugs)))

Thanks so much Aleesha. I think I will switch to the Master Cleanse as I am so tired. I feel it was a good headstart though in weightloss, detox and returning to raw. And the Master Cleanse will be a breeze and I will even reduce the amount of maple syrup by half, and still have plenty of energy. I just can't lie around all day, and I haven't been. I have definitely slowed down as one is simply forced to from the exhaustion but I have too many responsibilities. This is why the book says to go to a "Retreat" or stay in bed almost 24/7. This is my 9th day and I am aiming for 10. We'll see. Today is the first day I have actually felt something going on in my bowels. So I am thinking something is going on and without any laxatives or fiber! Hmmm.:)

excellent to hear. my bowels moved all through my fasts with virtually no assistance...

once in awhile i would drink some apple juice which always moved them.

i know NOTHING about the master cleanse so i can't advice on whether or not cutting your maple syrup is a good idea or not.

posted this is the wrong place in another thread, oops, lol.:o

hey everyone im not quite fasting yet but man i am drinking so much cranberry juice, lol. I found this brand that it just cranberries made into juice its so bitter, you mix it with water and mmm so good. I love the bitterness, haha. Be gone bladder infection, be gone!

Would it be ok to start a fast while I still have the bladder infection? I would drink other juice too cuz this cranberry stuff is still from a jar.

What other kinds of juice would be good for my bladder and help not hinder recovery?

Thanks

A fast is the BEST thing to do when you have an infection or any type of illness, bladder infection is no exception. Educate yourself on real healing with Natural Hygiene. No freshly made raw juice should hurt your body, but it's a good idea to water them down some and drink lots of water throughout the day

well I am not sure what to do now. I went into the dr for my test results and they were negative for a bladder infection (were taken 6 days ago). I have had pain for 12 days straight. Yesterday I had 2 different drs put thier hands up me... I have had tests and nothing is coming back as me having something. I am scared now. I am also 7 days late for my period, I am very regular, and the odds of me being pregnant are insianly low. I tried to go to the hospital cuz of the pain and how long its lasted to try get a scan of my uterus cuz nothing else is helping and the lady there made me feel like a dumb kids with no rights it was a nightmare, she said she was doing me a favor doing the few tests she would do... I dunno if I should just try another hospital or what.

I just dunno what to do. Gha sorry to bug you all this is just kind of a nightmare now.

keep fasting and do a home pregnancy test to make sure you aren't pregnant.

if it comes back negative, go back to your doctor and talk to them again.

I've been getting psyched for a 30 day fast in July on another thread, but noone has posted today--the very first day--so permit me here. I feel so PEACEFUL! Like my body is relieved from the constant deluge of food, assaulting its every move!!!

Okay, drama. But really, I feel good, like if the rest goes like this, I'll be done in no time!

Hopefully I can write here if I'm having a really bad day. Is that okay?

Greetings!
I haven't been on line for a while now and I've been missing the support and wisdom of this forum! I continue to be raw, but I have gained a few pounds. ( I lost 60 pounds on raw foods) Even on raw, I've been feeling a bit fatigued and having some issues with asthma. I've decided a juice and water fast is needed to do some deeper cleansing and bring my energy back up.
This is the perfect day to start since I have 3 days off of work for the 4th of July holiday. I'm starting with lots of water this morning!
Happy fasting and feasting to all!:)

Got that juicers high and feeling great!
Today i had green juice made in the blender and strained. It contains beet greens, cilantro, fennel, a lime, and cucumber. I mixed it with water cuz it was sooooo intense. Feels good for me! I also had some detox tea made with milk thistle, burdock, and dandelion root.
