Hi everyone,

I am all new to this, and I have read something about the night shade vegetables (bell peppers, potato, egg plant and spinach) and wonder if you are avoiding these?

i also have a question that i have been thinking alot about. Is the raw food movement something that is only common in the US and Europe? Or is it big even in countries like China, japan etc?
It seems so strange if we were the only ones to have found out human's right food :-/

Hi Anne
You will find that in a lot of places in the world it would not be safe to eat raw food as the hygeine standards there would not allow it. They traditionally cook to kill the bugs

Concerning nightshades, I read this on http://rawschool.com when discussing the most (and least) optimal foods......

"Tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers - These are optimal foods. They are water and nutrient rich. Eat all you desire, especially if you want foods that are nutritious and juicy but low in sugar. Note that "nightshades" have an undeserved negative reputation due to the fact that other parts of the plant, such as the leaves, are poisonous to humans. The fruit is NOT. Green bell peppers are unripe and should never be eaten (all other colors are good)."

Yes, I know from personal experience that many people in different areas of the world are seeking true health through eating raw vegan foods.

You will find various theories on nightshades and primarliy they are avoided by persons who consume cooked foods as they agrevate people with arthrites. Following my cancer - I was advised to avoid tomatoes because it was reported that the lycopine could cause cancerto grow - never the less, I eat at least on tomato daily and I have had no trouble.

Some of the cultures you named, do eat a far better diet than we do,and they eat rawfoods, and they also consume less food daily,so my question to you is why?
