Hi!

I'm a relative newbie, but I'm on day 6 of 100%. I'm having trouble getting in my calories because I really don't have an appetite. If I eat until I'm satisfied, I'll take in about 700 calories. Most days I have been eating coconut oil and treats to get my calories up to 1100, but even that is hard sometimes. I've also lost 5 lbs since last Friday (I'm 5'3" and weigh 126). So, should I just consider this a detox phase and go with my body's signals or should I force myself to eat?

Thanks for your help!

Don't force, listen to your body.

Listen to your body. Never force yourself to eat.

Counting calories is really unnecessary usually.

Thanks! That's the way I was leaning (trust my body). Calorie counting is a hard habit to break. I had mostly been watching calories to make sure I was eating enough, not to restrict myself.

If you don't have an appetite, don't eat. I guarantee you your appetite will return.

I'd love to know what you're eating, because if you just increase the caloric density whenever you DO eat, you should be golden. And despite what people say, I really, really believe that accurate caloric intake is important. If your body isn't getting enough energy you can experience even more lack of appetite, because your body is slowing down it's functions, because it is starving.

RAWDancer just the word Calorie is throwing me off but I totally agree with you. Your body will want to go back to sleep and you will become tired, sleepy and think you are not hungry......When Hunger is the Problem.

You should Never overeat but you know when you have had a Meal. We have to remember we are dealing with a Newbie and you are in DETOX and your Body is sending you all sort of mixed signals and you don't know which one to listen to. After being RAW a While and learning all these signals......then I would tell you to ......Listen to your Body.

RawDancer-

Here is what I've eaten today:

B: GS with spinach, kale, banana, and blackberries
S: tons of watermelon
L: 2 pears
S: 1 orange

I've been hungrier today. So far I've eaten 828 calories and I feel like I'll be able to eat again later.

Spicyfull- Thank you for being supportive. Detox hasn't been bad, but I was already mostly raw and last week I went 4 days at 100%.

Looking at what you've eaten so far - I hope you will have some fat tonight. We need SOME fat.

The body does not need overt fats every day, we could go on for weeks or months with none with no side effects... YOu will want some EFAs eventually be it from avocado or nuts, but you can do that every other day, a few times a week or once a week and be totally fine.

I think what you're eating can be cleansing in the short term (a week or less), but you really need to eat nuts/fats and more amino acid dense sprouts etc. There are a wide variety of nutrients that our body needs to function, and limiting yourself to mostly fruits can be damaging.
