Wow, I had a big shock at school today! I was talking with a friend, and found out that he considers eating fruit to be about as bad as a lot teens consider eating a salad! I couldn't believe it! I thought everyone liked fruit! I certainly always have, even before I went raw! Wow, what's the world coming to?! I can't imagine not liking fruit, all I can think of is that he can't have tried a large variety of fruit!

hehe, I wonder what he would think if I brought a durian to school! :p*evil laughter* Just kidding, I wouldn't ever do that! I would probably get kicked out to the school!

I better end this before I ramble any more!

I didn't like fruit until I went raw.

Now it is so good. Give me an organic date any day.

Or an avocado.

Yes, avocados are fruits!

No there are a lot of people who do not like fruit. Candy bar or fruit. Most choose candy. Candy is so much sweeter than fruit. Fruit then starts to taste bad.

What does a Durian taste like?
What does it smell like?

Myca, durian is a favorite fruit of mine, but is one of those fruits that some people love and some people hate!:p In my opinion, it has a lovely rich creamy sweet taste, very rich and filling. The smell, on the other hand, can be related to the smell of propane some other horrible smell. once I got past the smell, and loved the fruit, than the smell reminded me of the taste, and it didn't bother me at all.

Me! *Raises hand* If you are talking about sweet fruit. To me, most of it tastes really bad and I have issues with textures too. Like bananas and watermelon.

I might eat a few cherries straight from the tree. Might eat a few strawberries straight from the garden. Might have a few apples or pears from our trees.

Have occasionally used dates in a recipe. But mostly I don't like sweet foods. Never have. As a kid, the only fruits I would eat were apples and pears. Occasionally grapes. Did like cantaloupe for a few years as an older kid and young adult, but then it gave me horrid stomach pains as does most fruit.

Pineapple and oranges give me blisters in my mouth. I do love lemons and limes and occasionally will decide I want a grapefruit. That's about it.

But salads? Love them and always have. Even as a child and especially as a teen. In high school, we used to go to Pizza Hut all the time. I always got the salad bar and couldn't understand why my friends liked the pizza. Yuck!

I have always generally favored savory over sweet. *shrug*
Sweet fruit is still not my thing, really, even being raw.

You're right, he may only have had mealy, flavorless fruit... That's all I ever had in childhood. It wasn't until I was out on my own that I experienced fresh, juicy, organic fruit - and what a difference that makes.

i am very picky about fruit--always have been---BECAUSE the fruit at the local grocery store is usually under ripe, over ripe or has no juice, has a wooden texture, NO distinct flavor etc.

i grew up with a peach tree in my back yard and that tree produced so much fruit it nearly broke in half from the weight!! the peaches were so juicy and tasty, when you bit into one the juice POURED down your chin. nice, huh? but it SPOILED me and now , i CANNOT eat a peach. they just dont EVER compare. at the grocery store the tomatoes are usually orange outside, hard, & pale inside---i know to market it they have to pick it early, but please. i believe THAT is why many dont care for fruit. if one can get their produce frm a farmers market, organic, locally grown and picked/sold when RIPENED naturally---they might have a diff opinion!! but that is just my theory.....
