They told me I ate too much fruit. They said I wouldn't loose weight and that I needed to wean off the fruit and eat only vegatables. Mainly, juiced ones.
Is this true?
I lost 10lbs in 3 weeks. They are telling me that was just becuase it was new.

Before you believe what they say, look at them and make sure they are educated on the topic well and actually embody what they are saying. I've had people at the health food store tell me all kinds of stuff, but if they were experts they wouldn't likely be working there. Trust your instinct and Alissa's and David Wolfe's books imo.

Fruit is the perfect fuel for the body....it gives a lot of essential vitamins and minerals. When you eat nutritionally rich foods you are giving your body exactly what it needs to remove the excess weight/waste. Don't listen to them, keep eating lots of fruit your body is showing that it's the right way for you.:)
PS I eat lots of fruit too, and I've released a lot of weight eating this way.
Not true at all. I know a group of people who eat raw for weight loss.... high fruit, high greens, and low nuts and seeds... and the weight comes off really fast. I think newbies should first get into the eating as much raw as possible (even if there are lots of nuts)... but once you have been raw for awhile and are looking to lose weight at a slightly faster rate, you could try to scale back the nuts and up the fruits and seeds. It may help, as I've seen others have great results this way.
I'm not eating many nuts. At least, not until today. Many fruits, some kale, romaine, spinach and other 'salad stuff'.
Thanks

I've dropped (and I don't plan on picking it up again!) 37 lbs since Feb 2nd 2009 just by eating mostly (98%) raw. I eat greens, veggies, citrus (not a lot of other fruits but some), berries, lots of avocados, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, apple cider vinegar with the mother, some nuts but not lots, nut butters- again not lots, dates, green juices, lots of sprouted sunflower seeds and sunflower micro-greens, etc. Don't own a dehydrator so sometimes I buy dehydrated snackage like raw granola bars. Those are great to have in your bag just in case. Don't own a real blender, but a magic bullet found it's way into my life and that helps. Have an old Juiceman juicer and it still works, though not well on greens.
This weight loss has been from food alone as I have not been doing any extra exercise. Although, I really want to get into that so my soft gooshies get sculpted into something more appealing, lol.
Eating for Beauty by David Wolfe mentioned that a good way to melt cellulite was to do a grapefruit juice fast for a couple of days. Not a big grapefruit fan so I juiced Borrego Red grapefruits in the morning for breakfast. Have noticed the weight loss has slowed since I'm not doing that anymore, but weight is still melting away.
Hope that helps.

Sigh...
People will tell you that you need meat to be healthy, that you need milk for calcium for strong bones and that you will be sick without it.
People say a lot of things. I said a lot of things about raw that, until I tried it for myself, I believed.
Firstly I think you need to listen to your body, MANY people have lost huge amounts of weight eating lots of fruit (me included), it's just not true that you won't.
Secondly, many people who try to give me nutritional advice are overweight, tired and unhealthy looking and often the ones to comment on how 'vibrant' *I* look (???????). I figure if someone knew so much about nutrition, they'd put it into practice, and if they were putting it into practice, it obviously wasn't working for them.
Continue to check what I call the Key Health Indicators, whites of eyes, strength of nails, clearness of skin, colour of urine, consistency and colour of stools, shininiess of hair, energy levels etc.
If these are coming up trumps then you are doing fine. I also go get tested for B12, etc. each year as another indicator.
And ask for help with any Qs you have on raw with people who have had significant experience with it, not someone who has never tried it but thinks they know all about it (like I used to).

If you eat raw then the weight will come off and make sure your water intake is adaquate to rid toxins out of the body. I don't listen to those who try to impose their beliefs on me cause not everyone eats 100% raw at the HFS. Do what is right for you and listen to your body not someone else. Keep up the great job!!

Fruit is actually the food that is most natural for our bodies and then greens. So, if you eat alot of fruit you will stay hydrated, energized, and just feel great while losing weight. THe main thing to remember is to keep the Fat Low! So, anything more the 20 grams a day is too high. Most people eat 50% in fat!

The more I read about raw food diets the more and more I see negativity towards fruit. I've never been a lover of fruit, I find vegetables fuel my body extremely efficently.

My entire day would be spent eating to get 2K calories from veg. How do you get enough.
