Welcome to day five!

Good morning, raw family!

Yesterday evening my freezing thing subsided, and now i feel very normal - temeprature wise.

But, my stomach is sort of reacting. (ok, TMI warning) i've always had a very well-functioning metabolism, bm's 2-5 times per day, never diorreah/bloated/constipated or anything. But now, when i really need things to move along and bring the waste out, it's all slowing down to 1 bm per day. So i've got some psyllium seeds that i started to take yesterday, along with a new bottle of Udo, which will hopefully speed things up, but does anyone else experience this? From what i've read, most peoples metabolism seem to speed up on raw...

Well, to the foods. I've only had breakfast so far, didn't have a lot of fruits around, and i was def not in the mood for carrots for breakfast...

B - 2 pears and a few radishes

See ya'll later!
peace

****EDIT****

S- two brazil nuts
S - green smoothie made from tomato, oak leaf lettuce, lemon, 1/2 avocado (and an accidental lemon seed..) Not my finest creation, so to speak, but i drank it all...
L - salad (carrot, radish, red onion, cucumber, tomato) with a parsnip/almond-dip, udo's olis and dates
S - pear and orange
D - Marinated mushrooms, avocado, cucumber and kim chee.

Good Day All: Well, if I needed any further confirmation that going Raw AND staying Raw was the right thing for me, I got my lab results yesterday and my LDL Cholesterol is high. My diet was pretty decent (Raw off and on) until my position got eliminated in November/08. I went into a deep depression and the things I ate . . . OH MY GOD!!!! Well, I guess that strawberry ice cream I was eating every night did a number on this little old body, so I am now a Raw person forever more.

So, I was bummed out yesterday because two of my recipes turned out horrilble and had to throw them out so that leaves me with little food and I don't want to go back to the grocery store to buy more so soon after just spending $100.00 on Friday.

So, here what I'll have today:

B: Green smoothie
L: Grapes, tangerine, apple
D: Marinated portabella (did not come out too good, but I'm eating it anyway); creamy spinich; unfried rice, salad
S: 1 Almond/Walnut/fig cookie, 1 Almond butter cookie.

Blessings All

I did my first ever oil pulling this morning. 20 minutes is a long time. At first I thought I would never make it 20 minutes but then then time started going by pretty quick. Anyway, I'm very skeptical about it.
I plan on having a green smoothie day. As I said before I am nursing so do want to have some fat in my diet but we'll see how my milk supply holds up on just green smoothies. Oh I might have some coconut oil too. My first goal date was May 17th and I really want to lose 10 more lbs by then. I am thinking that is doable.?!
Great Job Everyone, keep it up!
God Bless!

The in-laws are gone and I can go full steam ahead. Although yesterday I did manage one green smoothie.

Today's menu has green smoothie written all over it! Will be trying a few days of GS to get back in the game! But if I get too hungry, I have a carrot raisin salad marinating in the fridge. But that won't be "good" until tomorrow! So that will help at least for today to keep it green.

Have a good one!

hi all - i was going to start a 30 day challenge using alissa's book starting may 10 or 15. but i decided i really just needed to jump in today. so here i am!

i had some raw granola from aimee's livin magic with sesame milk for breakfast and went to au bon pain for fresh squeezed orange juice instead of the usual tropicana pasteurized stuff in my office building's basement. was very pleased that i made the trip in the rain in order to stick to my guns!

lunch will be a marinated portabello steak and salad plus a key lime cream pie (both ani phyo recipes), and dinner will probably be a green smoothie.

looking forward to getting to know folks and staying in touch during this challenge. :D

have a great day everyone!

Hello!

Day 5 is almost done! Today I still don't have much of an appetite, so I forced myself to eat some almonds for dinner to push calories. Not a good idea! I used to love to eat tons of nuts, but tonight they made me nauseous.

B: GS with kale, spinach, blackberry, peaches
L: watermelon and banana
S: grapes
D: 2 oz almonds

Happy Cinco de Mayo !!
Today I felt like I was eating every minute...
B-greenish smoothie, with spinach,carrots,strawberries and a banana
S-pineapple
L-almonds,dehydrated cranberries, pepitas, cashews
S-apple
D-salad with spinach, cucumbers, broccoli, red peppers, red onions, green onions, and a little bit of olive oil

My stomach is really sensitive to the touch right now, ( I am not uncomfortably full ) and feels like I ate something poison ?!? Hopefully this feeling will pass.
For the record..does this amount of food seem normal? I feel like it is way too much, and am trying to refrain from getting all worked up over it. I know you are supposed to "listen to your body", but I feel like, mentally, I just really wanted to eat a lot today. And that scares me!

Day 5

Not feeling great.

Gonna keep it raw.

Have a great day!

Last month, day 5 was my very worst day. I was ill for 24 hours and my mouth was coated in white stuff. Day 6 was better.

I made RAW fudge today. It is made with Almond Butter and supposed to be Cacao. But, I had no Cacao and niether did the Health Food store. So, I used
'Really Raw' Carob. I sort of like it. I think it is growing on me.
The health food store told me I was eating too much fruit. I put that in a different post.
I am on the search for really awesome fudge recipes.

I am starting back up today. I went 10 days raw and lost 5 lbs then I went on vacation and did breakfast raw only with lots of greens mixed in. I still do not feel right after eating that way! The in-laws were in which made it hard. It is not easy for me to cook big meals and then have to make my own.(whine whine) I know I am company free for one month so I am starting here to keep me motivated. Ready to feel clean again!
Off to exercise!

No worries! It's hard to eat too much food on raw. Your body will tell you when it's full, if you listen. You need to eat more volume on raw because most of the foods aren't as calorically dense. The one thing you might want to watch is eating too many nuts, but you don't need to worry about that too much when you're just beginning raw, especially if they help you stay raw! you can always type your foods into fitday.com to see how many calories/fat/nutrients etc. you're getting.

I love the marinated portabello's. Marinate overnight in equal parts EVOO and tamari, put in the D in the morning and have for evening meal. Yum! :D I had one yesterday made it just like a hamburger :D 2 slices onion bread with a little uncheese sauce and romaine, onion, tomato.

Day late but they haven't got the 6th up yet, so I'll check in.

1 liter lemon water @ rising
GS w/banana, apple and chard

Grapes

Marinated portabello with onion bread, uncheese sauce, romaine, onion and tomato.

well i'm 4 days behind most of you, but day 5/1 turned out GREAT. ended up being really full from the granola - had a *late* lunch of marinated portobello, a salad, and my key lime kream bar.

wasn't hungry for dinner till 9:30, and i was startign to get nervous about finding something not too sweet. i find that too much sweet is what sends me craving meat and rice - something to neutralize the sweet or acid levels.

but i knew i could figure something out that wasn't too stimulating and would be light enough before bed - and i did! had apple slices with really raw almond butter. perfect combo.

Myca you sent me an email for my recipe and your profile is set up to not recieve emails so I am posting it here and I will post on day 6 too. This is one of my recipes I am putting in my new book.
Mousse Pye:

Filling
3 avocados
3/4 to 1 c raw agave (can use soaked dates in place)
3/4c to 1 c raw coca or carob (carob gives it a dark chocalate flavor)
1/2 tsp vanilla or 1/4 bean
1/2 c to 1 c filtered water

Blend in Vitamix wet blade

Crust
1 1/2 c almonds
1 c dates soaked for 2 hrs
1/2 c shreeded dehydated coconut
pinch of redmonds pink salt

I put the almonds in the dry blade vitamix for smoothness and then transfer almonds to food processor and add all the other ingredients.
For a chunkier crust put nuts in processor and pulse chop and then add the rest.

This pie sets up firm and only needs to be chilled for an hour and if you want to add whipped creem the use soaked cashews, agava, vanilla bean.

Next time I will take a pic for everyone. Hope you enjoy because we love this.

What were the bad recipes?

I made a creamy-kale soup that tasted too green for me. It needed to be a little sweeter for my taste. The recipe was from the Raw Revolution. She has another soup that I really like, so I will just add orange juice to this recipe in the future.

And the martinated portabella mushrooms. I martinated them too long in the frig. overnight and they did not dehydrate well.

Well, I learned two new things so I'm happy and not bummed about the money wasted.
