Does anyone have suggestions for an orange green smoothie recipe without any other fruit besides (if necessary) strawberries or apples? Ideally, I would prefer just the oranges, but don't know if they would go okay with any greens. Which greens would you recommend with oranges?

I like an green smoothie made with oranges, strawberries, banana, and spinach. I'll have to try it without the banana, and maybe without the berries, too. My guess is it would thinner, but still as good, maybe better. I'm wondering why I didn't think of it before. :)

I always use Orange Juice as a base for Smoothies.

Great! What greens do you find go well with the oranges? Do you find you need to mix any other fruit with it?

I would start off with spinach as it is mild then move along to the dark leafy greens, ie. kale, collards, dandelion, swiss chard, etc.

Hope this helps.

I like orange and pineapple - 1 cup of water, 1 peeled orange, 1 - 1.5 inch slice of pineapple peeled and lots of spinach all belended up tomorrow. In fact I think Ill do that for breakfast only with spring greens. Yummy.

I love mixing my citrus with greens......1 orange, 1 lemon, 1 lime as a base plus greens to taste. My favorites are spinach, kale, and dandelion (when I can find it). Usually I add a tsp or two of spirulina or green barley for good measure as well. Happy GS making! :)

Anyone use zest from the peel in the smoothie?

I like dandelion greens with orange juice.
I don't like whole oranges in smoothies as they are too pulpy . . . I'm picky about texture sometimes.

Ive just re-read what I wrote - I ment to say blended up together. Where tomorrow came from I don't know! Good sounding ideas here too.

Oranges are excellent with greens. The flavor is strong enough to overbear the bitterness of kale or collards or chard or spinach.

I'm dying to try some of these and do not have a powerful blender. I have a FP and a Magic Bullet. I'm thinking the FP would be the better choice. What do you think?

I think you should be fine in the blender if you do just the leaves from the greens, not the stalks. I don't do stalks even in the Vita Mix. I use the juicer as they don't digest well with me.....
