need some advice... ive been using hemp seeds with shells to make hemp milk because i dont trust the freshness of the ones without shells...they are sold in a cardboard can and not refrigerated and my understanding is that shelled hemp goes rancid easily. anyway, the ones with shells that we get here i have actually had luck sprouting, so i usually soak overnight, then blend on hi speed (braun blender, high powered but not like a vitamix), then strain the milk out. the problem is that in this straining process alot of the bits of seeds get left in with the hulls and then discarded, which means im losing alot of the nutrition and its not very cost-effective... but drinking it without straining would be like drinking dirt....the shells arent very pleasant to drink. really hard and gritty. ive started pouring off the top 3/4 or so directly into my glass, since the top of the blender seems to have bits of seeds but be free of the shells, but i can still see alot of seed fragments that get left in with the shells that settle to the bottom. so this seems like a real waste :( anyone have any other brilliant ideas? i thought of trying to make cookies or something out of the "pulp" that includes the shells, but i dont think they would be all that pleasant...the shells, while you COULD eat them, arent very pleasant...
just choosing to not use the hemp isnt really an option because its the only nut/seed milk besides almond milk that doesnt seem to make my tummy funny (sunflower sesame and pumpkin seed all get the thumbs down), and almonds are too pricey.
thanks
