I just had my first colonic and it was awesome! I feel great! So much came out. The therapist said that she could tell I eat a really healthy diet because usually not much comes out the first time . . . because their insides are basically all hardened and crusted up. Anyways, I highly recommend colonics. Sometimes our bodies could use a little help in cleansing out all that old junk.

Wow... i read about colonics earlier today, and i sort of felt like trying. but i'm not sure i'm brave enough..(i was looking into things to help speed up getting toxins out of my body, but i ended up gettin psyllium seeds instead)
Some day, though i will try it, i'm too curious not to try these kinds of things...
But one thing that i've been thinking about is, you flush with water or green tea, right? So what happens to all the good bacteria in your stomac? Are they all just flushed out?

Make sure to get good prohobitic. I spent alot from the health food and i noticed that i wasn't constipate after the treatment like the other ones.
I went three time so far. Twice in 2007 and one time this spring 2009. It is true for me that all the bad stuff came out at once. All the black stuff came right the first treatment too. My therapist was surprise that it was my first visit. This spring 2009, my colon was perfectly normal as per my therapist. She only wanted me to increase my intake of oil, which i don't resonnate at all.
I recommend to do research and to find a good therapist.
If you do a detox program or a fast, it is recommended that you do this then, so it wash out the toxin out intead of going in your blood stream.

I don't understand the need for colonics. I have read on line stuff but if you prep for a colonoscopy your insides are empty(clean as a whistle) without the cost of a colonic. Please enlighten me.
I have had numerous colonoscopies and have had a guided tour on the training scope while they were in me so I know I was all pink and clean.

No really I am trying to understand. How can you be all cleaned out when you drink the stuff for a colonoscopy yet get told you are full of packed old stuff by a colonic person. I really am trying to understand.
BTW I had medical needs for my colonoscopies.

Oh I am sorry sprouts to go.Did not intend anything about your colonoscopies. awwww. My mom gets them and I see it is nothing I want for me.
I am sorry you had trouble with colon challenge.
Hope it is better now. Yes raw cleans out bigtime.
Accelerating or assisting cleansing with colon hydrotherapy is great. New things go there as one cleanses more and more on raw.
Someone else explain it better perhaps.
I imagine when one is all clean and no longer putting rough stuff in, its all good in colon too. Skin tells.

Colonoscopy can only see the 5 feet of your LARGE intestines. Most often the scope looks at the lower half of your large intestines.
The stuff that colonics, raw, and colon cleanse gets out is encrusted in the 20 feet of your SMALL intestines. I'm still seeing mucoid plaque come out after almost 2 years on raw and I've already done 3 colon cleanses with PB shakes.
I'm very curious to try colonic someday in conjunction with PB shakes and fasting.

The colonoscopy looks at all the large intestine. Ascending, descending and transverse colon. It stops at the juncture of the large and small intestines. So you are saying all the junk is in the small intestines? And if so why does it not get cleaned out when you drink all the yucky stuff? The large intestines get cleaned out. If this cleanse is something that takes a few days why not just drink the colonoscopy stuff you can buy in the drug store? It is magnesium something LOL.
Maybe I should just worry about the yearly colonoscopy I have to have for my polyps and figure it does the job.

sprouts2go I'm in the same place as you. I've researched extensively on this topic because of, well, basic medical *curiousity* and a desire to know. Someone in my family has routine colonoscopies and the pre-treats have provided a thorough cleanout, as in pink like a baby's bottom on the scope the next day. I am skeptical that those jaw-dropping images you can find on the internet of mega strings and ropes of blackish-green mucous that appear to be coming out of people's rears is really impacted fecal matter....or is it actually 'created' by the cleanse concoctions themselves coagulating in the intestines and passing in the hours/day after taking them? I've read seemingly convincing stories that support both views, as opposite as they are. ((Sigh)) alas, I am no doctor and cannot provide a sound medical response here. My personal common sense tells me this -- the body is an AMAZING machine. It is made perfectly to do it's job and I (personally) find it hard to believe this type of impaction would happen unless, maybe, there is some underlying disease that has really altered the digestive tract. Yes, people will argue that the modern world and western diet is so toxic that it creates extreme problems inside relatively healthy individuals and compromises the body's ability to perform properly. Maybe. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' here. I absolutely believe that going through a cleansing via a properly trained/certified colon therapist will not cause physical harm, and if it makes a person feel better (physically, mentally, or both) then why not go for it!! If putting the lower GI through the wash-n-spin cycle makes a person pucker with squeamishness, well, then I'd hope they don't feel guilty that they're all clogged up inside, cause likely they really aren't. I truly believe that eating a whole/natural, unprocessed diet and drinking plenty of water goes a long, long way to achiveing a healthy, vibrant body!

I can see eating raw adds fiber to scrub out the intestines and water hydrates so I think it should help in moving things along on it's own. then again I agree that those that would like to moves things along faster have multiple choices of doing such ie cleanses, colonics coffee enamas and such. I was just trying to understand it all and also thought that the stuff one takes might be causing the weird looking stools. But then again maybe not.

I do see mucoid plaque on a regular raw diet. But it's a much slower process. I still see it after 2 years raw.
Sometimes, I'm impatient and like the colon cleanse for faster results. Yes, I do feel a difference after every cleanse. Especially on the ultimate fast.
I'm not sure why the magnesium stuff they give you for colonoscopy doesn't loosen up mucoid plaque since I've never taken it. I guess its like every other chemical that the doctor prescribes. Chemicals will not allow the body to heal.
There's no doubt the body will heal itself over time on raw. It's really up to the individual if they want to speed things up with fasting, colonics, etc.
Here's Matt Monarch's experience: http://mattmonarch.blogspot.com/2008/03/mucoid-plaque.html

I just came back from my first colonic and I'm glad I tried it. Not sure if I'll do it again.
One look at the exit tube and I wondered if it was big enough. The therapist laughed and assured me that it was big enough for bigger people and I'm so darn tiny. Well...it turned out to be too small.
Nothing but small debris and gas came out during the whole session. Towards the end I felt like I gotta go, so she took the tube out and I went to the restroom nearby. Over a foot long of mucoid plaque (MP) came out that is thinner than my usual yet slightly bigger than the tube. That's why it got stuck. She looks for good strong peristalsis and she said mine was pretty good .
Note that I'm on day 3 of the Ultimate Fast (MC with psyllium bentonite). This is my 2nd UF and am seeing a LOT more MP come out this time around. Phew!
I'm thinking the colonic sped up things a bit, but it would have come out tomorrow morning by itself anyway. I do feel lighter and happier afterward.
Overall, it was a good experience. I wouldn't go back because my MP is apparently bigger than "normal" :o

I took Natasha's course in 2007 with a detox diet and she did recommend to us to get to see a colon threrapist. She explained that during the detox it is important to help our gut to eliminate that stuff otherwise it gets absorb inside our blood stream.
She wrote a book called "The simplyraw living foods detox manual"

Matt Monarch also avocate to do that.
I think there is too side. I do believe that we can trust our body to heal and also, i do know that there are ways that we can help our body to heal. Our teeth need to be brush typically, our ears to be cleanse too.
I feel this is important to find someone that is good, gentle and knows what they do. I feel that using the gravity is safe versus therapist pumping the water in.
I will go back for sure.

I have wondered the same thing! I used to work for a gastroenterologist, and read some of the reports.
When they aren't "clean as a whistle" - they say the colon was "poorly prepared" and usually blame the patient for not following protocol!
Anyone know what is in that prep kit? Is it anything "unnatural"? Or would it be ok to use for colon cleansing?
Listen, doc. We can skip the procedure, I just want the prep kit....how much would that be?
LOL! Can you image their faces?
The patients are always complaining about the prep stuff, here we'd be asking for it!:p

I wish I had the confidence to poo infront of the colonic people but I don't, someday maybe!
