I hope this is in the right forum, if not, go ahead and move it to where it belongs.

Well, what i wanted to talk about is somehting i just realised about my relationship to my body. After feeling freezing last night, i went to bed with all my clothes on and i felt terrified. I was so scared that somehting was happening to me that was out of my control.

For many many years i have been terrified when my body's been sending me signals. Even feeling tired/sleepy to me has been something that made me anxious. I have not allowed myself to be sick for more than 3 days in a row, i never sleep past 8.30 am even if it's a free day, everything that has been "not status quo" has made me very very anxious and afraid.

Now that my body has started to clean house, it's sending me all these signals: tired, cold, hungry, sleepy, and i get very anxious beceuse i feel like i am not in control of the situation - my body is telling me what to do.

(I just felt like i needed to write this down, i know it's getting long)

I am working on not letting my anxiety take over, telling myself that it's ok, that it can't be dangerous to feel tired. I think this is bringing back physical memories of when i had panick attacks some time ago. Then too i would feel that my body was turning against me and that there was nothing i could do.

Today i will stay raw, i will listen to my body and do my best not to freak out from every signal. Because feeling sleepy isn't dangerous, right? I just need to convince myself that my body is not this evil machine that wants to kill me..

peace

aaaw Spring....you will get better. You will. It won't take long either before you will be feeling calmer, I'm sure. Just don't give up. Keep posting here. It helps so much and you'll find lots of encouragement from others. Do you like to read? Have you read books about raw food? How about the experiences of others as they began to change while changing over to eating it? Alissa's book has such experiences in it. It's great.

All the best -

Sue.

When i started raw food in Spring 2007, i was feeling very cold even on July,lol... We lose so much fat at first, which play a rol of making us feel chill also detoxing will do this. It won't last, this is normal. If you really don't feel comfortable, just get some blood work done or go see a dr that do raw food. Make sure they do raw food because typically dr. don't support raw food neither accupuncturist or homeopath or naturo path. Only because of they way they have been trained but you can find a proffessional that to raw food.

When you are tired, sleep, when you are cold, add close, just follow your body's need

Best wishes

I've had to let go of the thought "my body hurts me" and replace it with the thought "my body heals me."
What a beautiful revelation you've had that will help you tremendously on your raw journey . . . many blessings to you!

Your body is cleaning house and it's very important to respond to your needs...like needing more sleep. I too get cold from time to time and I will take a warm epsom bath to help the cleaning process. When you have detox symtoms like panic and this was an old issue for you this is called retracing and you can read more about it at rawschhool.com....the article is written for academia so it is cumbersome to read. I hope this helps and hang in there and soon you will be free of the panicy feelings.

I can totally relate Springtime. I'm new here and going through a similar journey. It can be very scary.

The most important thing for me was getting enough calories so my body could function properly because I definitely was not eating enough food at first.

If you trust your body and listen to your instincts, you'll be fine. When you're drawn to explore raw food info on the net, do that. When you feel tired, rest. When you're hungry, eat. When you need support, reach out.

Hopefully, eating raw foods will heal your fears, balance your body and bring more peace into your life.

Good thoughts and best wishes to you,

Alicia

Fear is F-alse E-vidence A-ppearing R-eal.

Especially this can be true for detox and cleansing. Symptoms of previous illness arise from the depths and appear real and scary.

If we tell our body we are sick, we can be. If we tell our bodies we are well and feeling better every day, then we will.

I do what i need to do for me when having any of these things. When I am cold , I find the warmest place I can and snuggle in. Anything to help my body heal.

It is ok. This will pass and you are getting well...yay!!!

I use to have panic attacs too so I really feel for you. I would surgets that you take some bach flower remedy called rescue remedy. That will help you relax and feel more in balance.
One thing that I have learned is that you are in controle ALWAYS. It takes time to work your way throug this but it is posible and I know you can do it (I did so I know :)). Be gentle with yourself and like the others say listen to your body; if it is sleepy: sleep a.s.o. Your body is not working against you it is your friend.
I found that my body and mind was trying to tell me that I needed to take better care of myself, to let go of stress, let go of worry, let go of dealing with other peopels problems that was not even my own a.s.o. To detox my life from all that was not good for me. Do things that you love and enjoy, pamper yourself and find someone you can really talk with to deal with unresolved isues that you míght be dealing with.

I found that taking extra vit. B´s and good omegas have been a geat help getting more emotional stable. There are also several other flower remedies from the Bach flowers that I have gotten great help from dealing with my fears (Crap apple, Minulus, Aspen). Deep breathing is also a great tool to deal with "the moments". Find what makes you feel strong and focus on that. I loved the idear of power animals and used it alot to imagine my power animal by my side when I was fearfull and needed the extra support. A great shoulder to lean on ;)

Stay strong, you will get throug this I know you will :)

Shanti, it's great to know there are other people here who've found help in the Bach remedies. I am a really big fan of Bach flower remedies, but i haven't had a mix made for a really long time. Crab Apple was a staple when i used to make them, though...
I use the Rescue Remedy Healing Cream on my face every night, it's wonderful. But i think i'll order some tomorrow, they've really helped me a lot.

I too can vouch for Bach Rescue Remedy, I use the liquid and the pastilles and both work really well for reducing panic attacks and general anxiety. This is one reason I became raw, to heal myself emotionally as well as physically. I think a lot of emotional stuff comes up sometimes when we first go raw, we have to look at our fears and things we have stuffed down with food for so many years. That may be partly what you are experiencing? All I know is that I feel so much calmer living this way, and I think that eventually you will too. :)

It takes a long time to let go of control and be ok with listening to your body. I have a history of anxiety and I still, after about a year of working on it, chose sometimes to ignore messages from my body even though I feel them because my head wants to be in control. It is a process and it's super hard not to get frustrated and want results immediately. Just don't give up. You are divine!
