View Full Version : What to consider Miso Soup?

I know a few of us heat up water to make tea. And that is not considered breaking away from Raw. How about miso soup? Especially, if you do not add any veggies into it. Just drink the powder in warm water?
Is Miso soup treated like a hot elixer? Or like a meal?
Does anyone make miso soup with cold or room temperature water?

I love miso soup and I don't consider it a break from raw, as long as I keep the water temp below 115 degrees. But I don't use powder, I use fresh miso. I think it has more life force than the powder.

You are your own keeper in the end SekhemNefer ;)
For soups, even though you do make a good point, I warm mine in the oven on low with the door propped open with a mug (my dehydrator).
But yet, I do drink hot tea...I figure it has no calories, except for possibly 2 or something, so that's how I justify it...not sure what the caloric intake of miso is...
If you need hot miso soup to keep the rest of your progress going, then I would have it. For me, there is something comforting about tea, maybe for you it's miso soup. Some people don't even believe you should have miso, as it's fermented, there are all kinds of do's and dont's right, it's very individual and you really have to make your own rules a bit.

i bought some fresh miso yesterday and made soup with it by heating in the vitamix... i added noodles of cucumber, carrot and zuchini cuz i wanted to try a noodle soup and i really don't like miso. I felt naseous after that, any time i have salt or large amounts of anything like tamari or vinegar i feel sick now. So I think i will have to find something else to make for soup.

Fresh miso? What is that? I know that Trader Joe's sells them, but I saw like a pound bag of miso in white, red and black at Whole Foods. I thought this was powder too? Is that fresh miso instead of the "instant" at Trader Joes?

I bought some in the fridge section of the health food store beside all the tofu products. It's in a little yogurt looking tub and it's like a paste. I've never seen anything but powdered instant miso soup that has chemicals and preservatives.
