I'm lifting weights and want to gain weight so I need allot of calories and protein. My budget is $10 per day. I can get 100 grams of protein from raw hemp powder for $6 per day, but still need another 2,500 calories and 50 grams of protein. What can I eat to get 2,500 calories, 50 grams of protein and other nutrients to be healthy for $4? Is it possible? Thanks.

You could look into Nutribiotic Rice protein (it's raw according to their site), and walnuts, sprouted lentils and chickpeas are awesome too.

spirulina has like 12 times more protein than meat. something like that. i'm not a nutricianist, but you really don't want to be eating the same thing everyday and need breaks from foods and switch to something else or else it can become harmful in most cases.
also.. calories.. it just reminds me of the decievment the goverment, fda and many nutricianist give people...
many people can bombard with muscles while getting few calories in diet.

Would it be unhealthy to eat only hemp powder, nuts/seeds and 3 dollars worth of fruits and veggies everyday?

nuts is a fungus...am i right? i think it is. i love nuts but feel i need to keep in moderation if i eat it although moreso feel probably should be avoided.
and again.. my opinion and expressing it again ;) .. i wouldn't eat specificaly one food item every day... this includes hemp powder.
i know at a rule for herbs.. most herbs at least if not all... 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off. and there are studies with super foods showing down falls of consuming too much and too often.. such as chlorella, spirulina etc. please don't make me search for back-ups.. not in the mood right now and i'm sure it's easily found on a google search. :D

words of advice... follow your intuition what to eat and is best for you. all bodies are different.

i'm with roman on the not counting calories thing. if you're trying to gain, then eat larger meals, add more fats/oils, etc... but always listen to your body and pay attention to how you feel. that's the most important thing... about a year and a half ago (when i was the opposite of raw!) i was eating about 6000kcals a day, and definitely was gaining weight.. but i felt terrible. i got to the point where i would throw up the first meal i ate everyday. my body was trying to reject all the crap i was putting into it. looks like you don't have the same problems i had, since you are on here and are eating raw.. i guess i'm just saying i feel 1000% better now than when i was so concerned with how much protein and how many calories i was eating.

i don't think that you should limit yourself to only hemp protein, nuts, and a few fruits/veggies a day. your body needs more nutrients than that. i also don't believe that eating a ton of nuts to increase your caloric intake is the best thing to do.

like others have said, look into other sources of protein too! bee pollen, algaes, plankton... there's a lot of superfoods that are super high in protein and 99% of the world doesn't know it!

For the record, nuts are not a fungus. They are seeds/fruits.
I wouldn't worry so much about the calories and just eat as you are hungry. Also, if you could find a way to spend more money on food, that would be great! (but not necessary). Prioritize - just how important is your health to you?
Seeds and bananas are cheap sources of calories and protein . . . but there's so much more to a healthy diet than just calories and protein . . . and you need variety.

if i were gonna eat alot o nuts and seeds
and 3 dollars of fruit / vegi the fruit / vegi
would be dark greens and citrus .
dark greens for the A / IRON / CALCIUM ,
citrus for the C

and though ive never tried hemp ide be leary
of the super food claims on it and spend my
money on a cheaper form of protein like walnut
with money being an issue

also banana and avacado would be involved
. plus grinding the cheap and healthy
fatted flax seed for its protein and important to vegans
omega oil

i read something long ago about fungus on nuts. that's it. and also some claim nuts shouldn't be eaten often even if raw. stuff like that...
