Hi dear rawbies. I have decided to try several things to try to lower my blood pressure, one of them being 1 clove of garlic a day. (Or do I have to take the capsules?) Do any of you know how I can be sure that my breath and body odour aren't offensive? Thanks so much and have a great healthy day.:)

Eat lots and lots of parsley. :)
Just in case you don't know, avocados, tomatoes and broccoli also lower blood pressure.
As well as juice fasting in general.
best wishes.

Aged garlic like Kyolic is oderless. You can also soak it in lemon juice or vinegar. Suppose to be healthier soaked.

Dimond that's something I didn't know about - soaking the garlic. I will try it. Thank you.
RawHeaven, I eat those other things also, so everything will add up and hopefully help me with this problem. I've since also found that tea made with Mistletoe is supposed to help. Bananas are supposed to help and I believe that Ginger is great for this too. As for parsley, I have it in my GS all the time. And celery is also mentioned. All this goes to show me even more that I have been "starving" myself of many sources of real nutrients for most of my life by eating SAD food. Thanks for your help. :) I guess I will have to find a dear friend who will be perfectly honest with me who will tell me if I reek!
I'd still be interested in hearing more about the garlic, if anyone knows more about it.

Eat lots of celery. You could even blend it in smoothies to get more in. It's high in potassium and the good salt that will help lower your BP. Don't use any added salt at all too.
I've watched 2 chefs on YouTube that show cutting the garlic clove in half (north to south) and removing the greenish sprout in the very middle. They both said that this is the strong bitter part and if you remove it - you will not have garlic breath, or any other typical garlic problems. Sounds easy enough ~ *Ü*

Zanjabil and DebB -Thank you both. I knew about the celery and so have been juicing it as well as putting plenty of it in my Green Smoothies - leaves and all. As for the tip about removing the center bitter part of the garlic - that is a wonderful idea and I will definitely do it and see what happens. Easy is right! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! :D

This may very well be the case because I eat plenty of fresh raw garlic everyday and have never had a comment. Either that or everyones just being nice ?

I'm trying to lower my BP naturally as well and I've read that having a serving of celery juice each day helps to lower BP - it has natural sodium which is easier for your body to process and a needed element. Don't add any other salts to your diet though. You'll get enough in your foods. Someone had suggested to me to use sundried tomatoes and it actually really works! There's only about 10mg of sodium per serving, but if you sprinkle them over a salad you won't need much and it does help with a saltier taste without all the bad stuff.

Zoocrew10- thanks for the info about sundried tomatoes - love them! And I have been trying to use lots of celery too.
I've already had a piece of ginger earlier this morning in a smoothie and now I have made a huge salad for our supper with a piece of garlic chopped up in it. I also am soaking another clove of it in some lemon juice as suggested here. Then I may simply blend it up with a bunch of celery and other greens for a truly green smoothie later OR I'll mince it up to add to a raw dressing. Not sure yet - depends how I feel later. Oh yes - I meant to add here that when I opened the clove up from North to South - the little green "seed" or bitter part was not in there and I tried several cloves, but I have seen these before, so I know what to look for. Anyway I will be asking friends as the days go by if I stink!

Oops - I just rewatched this video with Rene Oswald (I've watched all her videos and want to try her recipes!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8dtklIfdNs&feature=channel_page
And she says to remove the 'core'. So it was my mistake to say the greenish sprout (although there will be one when it does start to sprout).
Hey - maybe we'll get this figured out yet! (wink) *Ü*

My mom used to soak halved garlic in apple cider vinegar. I heard it lowered blood pressure like drinking a tablespoon a day. However let it at least soak for 3 days.

Hi! Thanks for your input. I wasn't too clear about what you mean though. Should I drink the Tbsp. of apple cider vinegar that the garlic has been soaking in and remove the garlic first? Or what? Would you mind being a bit more specific?:) Please?

Thanks Deb - yes we'll get it for sure. Thanks so much for trying to help. I will persevere with this for sure.
