so I went down to the produce market in my building this morning and I started loading up on stuff because I am completley kaputski on whole foods right now. My cupboards are so bare! LOL
Anyway, one of the owners was there and he looked at me kind of funny when I picked up a five pound bag of juicing carrots. He was like "Didn't you tell me a week ago that you were giving up meat?" I said yes. He said "But that was a week ago and you are STILL going?" I said yes. He said "No meat?" I said nope none. He said "How are you doing that?" I said it's really easy since you are here! That seemed to snap him out of his trance because then he was all happy to be able to help me get healthy and stuff... It was really funny though to see the look on his face when I grabbed those carrots!

I love my raw shopping cart. It's so pretty when filled with fruits and vegetables. I like it when people comment about my rabbit food:D

I like shopping at my co-op because nobody there questions my diet. I once got some fruits and a bag of spinach at a Smart and Final on a trip down south and the checker was like: "woah man, look at you and all that healthy shit! You're the only guy here who didn't get some chips and frozen food!"

And the best part about it is that it is true! I don't even have to leave my apartment building to find a plethora of fresh organic produce! I am so lucky and so glad that they are here!

I bet the look was priceless. I remember I purchased at least 40 ripe bananas on sale at my co-op once. When I was checking out, the checker asked me if I was going to make banana bread....lol. I said, nope I'm going to put them in the freezer for future green smoothies. Her look was probably similar to your produce manager's. hahaa.
I think it's great that he asked how you are giving up meat. He's probably paying close attention to you and will be asking you about juicers before you know it! :)

RH, I find it very interesting that he runs an organic produce stand, but would be surprised when anyone of his regular customers swears off meat! He ws truly surprised. The other guy that was working at that time just started laughing and telling me about all the yummy goodies that came in that morning.
Whenever he has questions though, I am all over it!

That is very interesting. During a lunchtime break when I was working downtown, I witnessed a "vegetarian" chef bring in a big ole greasy McDonald's bag into a popular vegetarian restaurant. You could smell the meat and fries so I know what he had in dat bag...trying to sneak it in the back. LOL. Nothing surprises me anymore.

The last time I filled up my shopping cart with produce (and had none of my 6 children with me at the time) the checkout person said that I must have a bunch of healthy kids to be buying all of that stuff. I get comments quite often - and I can't help but look around and notice how different my cart's contents are from everyone else's in the store. I think if I were a check-out clerk I would probably spend a lot of time trying to analyze people from the contents of their carts...
