Day 2.
Seems like day 3. I'm eating very basic. Just fruits, smoothies and salad. Trying to get to an off day. Hard to be creative and work 12 hours shifts. I bought curly Kale and plan to make kale chips. A coworker went to the only health food store near me [ and hour away] She lives in that area and went shopping for me.
I want to try to make Alissa's ravioli. I found a mandlelin at Sam's but I am not sure it will cut the turnips thin enough.

Today i did oil pulling for the first time, and it felt really wierd. I posted about it in misc.>oil pulling challenge, cos i'm a bit suspicious on why the oil turns white. well, i'm gonna try it a bit more and see if anything good happens, otherwise i'll just keep detoxing on raw foods.

My meals today, so far:
B - butternut porrige with sesame mylk and small green smoothie of parsley, lemon and kiwi
L - Salad buffet in a restaurant. Sprouts, carrots, leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumber... a bit of dressing in one of the salads which was probably not raw, but i'm happy anyway
S - 2 dates, piece of banana with tahina (to give me energy to make dinner
D - butternut and zucchini noodles with tomato sauce

Generally i feel good and energized. I used to get terribly moody and panicky when i hadn't eaten for say three hours, i mean when i get really hungry i don't feel it in my stomach, but in my arms and legs. it's as if someone pulled all the energy out of the blood, i feel all limp.
BUT that feeling doesn't get nearly as severe on raw. I just notice that i'm hungry, i feel the hunger, but the energy never fades to 0, i seem to have some left to make a snack or dinner. Wonderful!

peace

I cracked open another coconut this morning. What I need is a machete! I've been using the back of a hammer and when it hits home the coconut water explodes all over me and my kitchen! But it makes breakfast exciting! And it keeps my roommates amused. Raw laughter.

just got back from the farmer' market on this gentle rainy day. I came away with a satchel full of really beautiful greens -- dandelion, watercress, collards, kale, wild onion, and something that I cannot remember the name of, something spear-shaped and kind of furry. I had to steam it just a tiny bit. I will also steam the kale and collards. otherwise I will be crippled with stomache cramps for days! Learned that the hard way! I know it's not ideal to steam, but I don't want to miss out on the best of the greens on account of not being able to digest them. Maybe there will come a day when my digestive system is strong enough to handle raw collards, but until then I'm not going to sweat it.

I love it when greens look wild, like these dandelion greens I'm looking at right now do. They look like they've come out of the ground and have felt wind and rain and all kinds of life. super beautiful.

oh also, I noticed a defininite change in my energy today. I woke up clear and energized, and when I got outside my body begged for movement. Like when I was a little kid and i just wanted to run around for the sake of running around! I actually did run, for the hell of it. Not far, not sustained, not for exercise, just a celebratory bolt.

now THAT does NOT happen to me very often.

Good morning / afternoon / evening...depending where you live.

Breakfast was on the go - a banana and carrot sticks. Lunch was another big salad with honey mustard dressing. Dinner will probably be a green smoothie. I have oranges and lots of veggie sticks for snacks. I'm holding off on eating any nuts until tomorrow...Sunday will be dessert day! :D I want to limit myself for a bit.

Hope everyone is having a fab day!

:(

I had a major craving earlier and had a Thin/FinnCrisp cracker. But, on the bright side, now there are no more crackers or bread left in my cupboard! Next time craving sets it, there will be no "cure" for it!

Banana and an apple for breakfast (on the run), couple of nori sheets spread with a tiny bit of raw tahini, and rolled around asparagus, yellow bell pepper and scallion, delicious! Made a pitcher of green smoothie with spinach, banana and strawberries and just had a glass of it. Dinner will be a big green salad with vin/olive oil. I'm at work, and I brought a pear and an orange in case I get hungry after that. I feel pretty good, but lots of cravings as I watch my coworkers eat chocolate chip cookies, Cheeto's and Subway. I'll be fine :) !

Went to dinner with friends yesterday. Ordered a salad. I brought my own avocado, nutritional yeast, lemon. I thought I'd feel weird assembling my salad in public, but didn't. Stayed raw amongst tons of temptation and prodding.

I'm not so regimented in eating. Will start tomm.

Am Workout.
2 Chocolate candy cups. [Waited too long to eat. Went for what was near].
Raw Ice Cream cup topped with sunflower seeds
Parsley, Banana, Cucumber Smoothie. [a little agave. trying to get off it].

Kale Salad using this recipe. Dehydrating Kale Chips & Sweet Potato Chips
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=47077

Finished Green Smoothie

Because of the incredible amount of nuts, fats consumed, I think I'm just going to have a salad for dinner.

Nuts are always my downfall. I'm really hoping that by staying raw, I really won't have to count calories just yet. But I will work towards having less nuts through the week and slightly more on the weekends. Hopefully that balances out.

But I'm thrilled with how all the food taste.

Hi everyone! I did an introduction a while back, but have just been lurking since then. Now I'm ready to jump in with both feet. I was SAD until December when I began transitioning to raw. Since then I have been vegan most days, occasionally reverting to SAD. This is day 2 of 100% raw for me. Last week I was able to go for 4 1/2 days but then I caved in. I think it was a combination of emotional eating and not taking in enough fat. I've been trying to fix that by upping my calories to about 1500 and adding in coconut oil. So far, so good! Today I have eaten:

6 oranges
1 banana
2 lbs of watermelon
coconut macaroons
1 oz of almonds

I know I need greens, and I will probably start tomorrow with a big GS.

Glad to be here!

Whoohoooo!! I'm glad to be at Day two!! My stomach bug is GONE and I'm feeling fine. I can't remember yawning yet today and I usually feel tired through the day. I think Monday (at work) will be a deciding factor for my energy level; ;)

Today I consumed-
B- Beet/carrot/celery/apple/lemon juice. I used 2 big beets, a big bunch of celery, a dozen carrots, one apple and half a lemon. It was delish!! I saved some for tomorrow mornings breakfast.

S-a small tin of almonds and a "Raw Organic" energy bar (actually it was only 80% raw, but I'm not freaking out about that)

L- At a birthday party for one of my DDs classmates- celery sticks (the ONLY thing that was raw or even Vegan there). Glad I brought the above snack with me!!

S- Small amount of juice leftover from breakfast and a banana.

D- Pai Tai from the cookbook. This was TO DIE FOR!! :D I have plenty for left-overs for lunch tomorrow.

Well, my second day went really well... have had a pretty nasty headache most of the day, but I think that's detox coming off coffee.

Today:

1 cup green tea

fruit salad of 1/2 c. strawberries, 1 banana, 1 apple

1 1/2 quarts green smoothie (orange, kale, banana, bee pollen, coconut butter)

2 carob fudge balls (Alissa's recipe)

another cup of green tea

1/4 c. spicy walnut taco meat (ala StarFire) on romaine leaves with guacamole, salsa and a drizzle of cashew sour cream on top

herb tea with honey

Hoping my detox headache will be better by Monday! Now, off to cruise new recipes to try! :)

I've been off the wagon for a while and I am ready for some new energy and vitality. I also have twenty pounds that need to melt away. But mostly I am tired! I suspect I may have some yeast syndrome going on so if any of you have dealt while eating raw with it please feel free to send some tips my way. Thanks

I am sooooooo proud of myself. I have my niece for the weekend and the past couple of months I have slid back into SAD on the weekends that I have her. I usually take her out to eat and munch on her food and that is when I slide back into SAD.

NOT TODAY!!!!! I got up early and packed all my food for the day. When I took her to the resaurant to eat, we sat in the back and I ate my food that I bought from home (Yay Me!!!!). Then we went to he Aquarium and I whipped out my pre-packed food and I was not even tempted. The only down was that I was very weak at the Aquarium and that was because I did not drink enough water today. Must do better tomorrow. So, all in all I'm feeing very good about this. I really understand why Alissa stresses going 100% Raw. I've been 100% for about a week and I have no cravings for SAD food at all. If I allow myself ANY cooked foods, the cravings are horrible:

B - Green Smoothie (kale,bananna, blueberries, orange)
B2 - Grainless Apple Cereal with Hemp Seed Milk and raisins
L - Mock Salmon Croquette w/mock tarter sauce, marinated bok choy and unfried rice
S - Two Almond/Walnut/Fig cookies
D - Cashew/Bananna/Strawberry/Cocunut Oil/Hemp Milk/little Agave/Vanilla Bean Shake
S2 - One Almond Butter Cookie

Blessings All!!!!

I've decided to do a green smoothie every morning. 2 days down!

Breakfast was a green smoothie: Romain lettuce, chard, and parsley, 2 bananas, several prunes, 4 teaspoon hemp, 1 1/2 teaspoon sesame seed, and 1 1/2 -2 cups frozen strawberries. (I has half at breakfast and the rest tonight for supper.)

Lunch: large carrot, handful pecans, raisens, cocoanut (blended in food processor)

Supper: apple, handful of almonds, and remaining breakfast green smoothie.

Snack: 2-3 tablespoons cocoanut oil, some agave, carob, and cocoanut. Trying to get cocoanut oil down every day. This is good -- like fudgy desert.

Also did major demolation on kitchen. Did not exercise officially. But tearing apart a kitchen is hard work, even if hubby's brutte strength does most of the work. I'm using muscels I forgot I had.

Good luck to everyone!

without going too deeply into it, I noticed some things today:

1. it's much easier to be raw vegan in the morning than it is to be one at night.
2. when I eat off of other people's plates it feels like it "doesn't count".
3. I can have such a strong craving that I will actually forget that I have decided to go raw.
4. SAD habits die hard.
5. greens are expensive compared to how quickly I eat them
6. Cigarettes are not raw

What an amazing learning experience! this is not only an exercise in bodily health, but it's an examination of attachment. I am so so so attached to so many things. Letting go is a hard and wonderful process.

Hello!
So far so good! My meals yesterday and today were about the same.
B~Green smoothie
L~Big salad with avocado, tomato, yellow pepper, brocolli, carrot, and a wonderful cilantro dressing
S~Mangoes
D~Soft tacos (I liked the "meat" better than what we normally eat) It was 3 cups of walnuts, 1t ground coriander, 1t cumin, and 1/3 c braggs/grind it up. My husband loved it!

I will weigh tomorrow morning and give a total of what I have lost so far. I have been raw since April 11th, but have been too liberal with my fats. Just started cutting back on those so we'll see! :0)

Hope everyone's having fun!
