View Full Version : What do you eat when you have a stomach flu??

I was visiting my childrens school yesterday and must have picked up a virus somewhere. Early in the morning I had about dozen episodes of diarrhea following by vomiting twice. I was afraid to start the 30 day raw challenge so I had some oatmeal that did NOT sit well with me. What *should* I have eaten?? Any advice is welcome!! :D
FWIW- I'm feeling better now and haven't had diarrhea or vomiting since 9:30 am.

Hi! I'm currently getting over Mono..., so I know feel for you!!! Here's a thread I started about what to eat when you're sick:
I did try some of the things on the thread, but what worked mostly for me was just REST, and eating a lot of Clementines. I think my body was craving Vitamin C.
Anyway, hope continue to feel better!

i don't eat anything when i get sick. i usually can't because my body won't let me. last time i was sick i ate one thing one day out of the whole week. i could barely keep water down as well. just let your body ride it out :)
if you're starving for something, have something super light like fresh squeezed oj (or any other kind of fresh, raw juice) or a smoothie. maybe some lemon juice in water...

Thanks, ladies (and thanks, REnee for that link!!). My kids just got home from school and want to make me a smoothie. Since they are only 8 years old, I had better be in charge of the VitaMix!! I'm really not hungry so I'll just drink some water with lemon and rest until later. I've been couch-bound all day and the kids are insisting I go rest some more. What great kids!! :):)

I always just start juice fasting when I am sick. Carrot/spinach/beet/apple combo. I got viral meningitis and it was gone in 3 days vs. 2 weeks and the pain was much more bearable than the last two times I had had it.
