I LOVE funyons. They are in the house and I want them sooooooooo bad. How do you stop yourself?

I tell myself that that is not my food to eat. If it is I throw it in the trash by emptying the bag into the trash. ;)

Ditto, that was EXACTLY what I was thinking. Highly processed full of chemicals.

I have a clean food house. All my "bad" food was thrown or donated. Makes it easier.

I'm trying to keep my house clean of that crap but my husband keeps bringing it home.

omg FUNYONSSSS!
I haven't had funyons since high school! wow!
haha

I just don't consider that as an option to eat anymore. Like meat to a vegetarian-- not an option. It gets easier and easier to do as you plug along :)

but if you are the only one who would enjoy those funyons, i would open the bag to get the air out then smash and crunch the funyons until they are dust and then throw it away. if there are other peeps in the house who eat those, then they might not like you to do that

oh, i see your hubby brings it in. I would give him a special cabinet or drawer that he can buy w/e he wants and hide it in there. and thats like HIS little stash that you can't open or get to. just never open it to see whats in there. i wanted to do that with my dbf, but he decided to go raw with me. even better!

Find a replacement. I'm not familiar with funyons, but I have to wonder if the onion rings I've been making lately would be a good replacement. The rings are soaked, coated in a blend of oranges and sesame seeds, then dehydrated. Addictive, but guilt-free.

Well, I was just sitting here sipping my Pineapple/Kale Green Smoothie - my rather late lunch - and thinking it's May 1, and then, how I will feel when it's June 1, having been a full month eating only raw and then July 1 etc. It will feel so marvelous!! Does that help?:)

No, but I had some last night. :(

I'll just throw them out and tell my husband I ate them all.

I don't care for onions - but would like to try this out on my son - care to share the recipe?

As for resisting.....

I've been vegan for years and years......so I am quite accustomed to delicious looking food being available - but not for me.......:)

It does get easier - but you have to put your line in the sand and NOT cross it.

"each time lends an easiness to the next"

Each time could be when you say no - or give in. Behavior perpetuates itself.

Sweet Onion Rings

2 ½ lbs sweet onions, sliced into ¼ inch rings
½ cup sea salt
2 T. lemon juice

Batter Ingredients:
1 ½ oranges, peeled and chopped
½ cup sesame seeds (I used hulled white seeds)
¼ cup filtered water
1 pitted date
Pinch of salt

Separate the onions into individual rings in a large glass bowl and cover them with purified water. Add the sea salt and lemon juice. Let the onions soak for 1-2 hours to soften. (That is correct, ½ cup salt. I have tried reducing the salt to ¼ cup, the onion flavor was a bit stronger and they were not as soft. I soak them in the fridge for up to 24 hours.)

Drain and rinse onion rings. Set on a towel to drain while making the batter.

To make the batter combine the oranges, sesame seeds, water, date, and salt in blender and process until smooth.

Pour half of the batter over the onions in a bowl and toss until evenly coated. Arrange on non-stick dehydrator sheets. (Fills 2 14”x14” trays.) Cover and store the remaining half of the batter in the fridge until needed.

Dehydrate at 105 degrees for 6-8 hours. Turn the onions over and drizzle (or paint) the remaining batter over the top. Continue dehydrating another 12-18 hours.

I store them in Ziploc bags at room temp. The original recipe (from “The Raw Revolution Diet”) says they will keep for several days at room temp and for 3 months in the refrigerator. I wouldn’t know about that. They only last a few days at my house.

I’ve also made this recipe with red onions. Even better!

Funyons never did much for me.

Now, Doritos is a whole 'nother issue. :D

Just keep eating as much raw as you can. And then one magical day, you'll stick a Funyon in your mouth and almost gag due to the dry chemical taste of it and wonder how you ever ate that junk.

It is very difficult when DH is bringing it in. My husband has agreed to eat cooked vegan 5 days a week and go out with coworkers when he feels like eating meat, but we had a long talk about me eating raw vegan and needing his support and he is getting better as time goes on. He has given up coffee with me and that as helped with cravings. I did though last week ran across some jelly bellies and had a few but flushed them down the toilet because I know me and I would go in the trash and get them...not pretty but honest. Stay true to yourself and do other things when you start craving....things that make you feel at peace, calm, and centered. I know you can do it and having a little doesn't mean throw in the towel...it means that you have an issue to overcome with that type of food. Focus on what you've accomplished thus far.:D
