I FINALLY got my blender this morning! If it wasn't bad enough I had to wait two extra days to get it, then I had to wait an additional ten minutes for the guy in the office to finish a phone call and even acknowledge my presence! That's ok though because I got it and now I am making flax crackers! I kind of played around with this recipe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DOWprJi7C8&feature=related
It smelled so good when it got through blending. We will see how they come out. I don't think that they are totally raw because I used tomato paste instead of sundried tomatoes. But I just can't wait till it's done to try!
That sounds so wonderful! I am so happy for you. Well, I have no vitamixer yet, or juicer, but I did find sundried tomatoes at Walmart. I think I will have to get a coffee grinder or soak my flax seeds. I'm not sure which I am supposed to do if I do not have a vitamixer.
How long do they need to stay in the dehydrator?
Congratulations,:D

I often make flax crackers. They are so easy! I simply soak them, add powdered garlic, curry and spices and voila, they are ready to dehydrate- no blending or grinding. I do one side mid morning, flip them at bedtime and they are ready the next morning. Mine are thick and I dehydrate at 105, which is why they take longer but they always come out perfectly. Good luck.

My understanding was that flax seeds had to be ground to get any nutrition out of them. Whole ones just pass thru your body. Can someone clarify this?
Found it
"Note that a) flax seeds need to be ground to make the nutrients available (otherwise they just “pass through”) and b) flax seed oil alone contains neither the fiber nor the phytochemicals of whole flax seed meal. " from this link

I make my flax crackers with whole flaxseed too.
No dehydrator - I do them in the fridge!
Takes like 5 days, lol! But I know for sure they are raw, :D
I soak overnight then give them 24 hours to feel "sproutlike" then spread them onto little plastic tray. I figure then may be sprouting a little the first day or so in the fridge too.
Not sure about the soaking/sprouting making them available without grinding - but I chew my food really well
so problem solved!
