Hi everyone I am new in here. I am not new to the idea of raw but have had a very hard time in doing raw. I am diabetic, over weight, mild thyroid problems and now either the para thyroid is acting up or something else is causing slightly elevated blood calcium levels. Cholesterol is rising, on low dose of hormones that are compounded.

I just found this site and am hoping that with support from others in here I can get it straight and get off medications. Although we lost one of our beloved dogs to insulinoma cancer she is the one who taught me about raw and learning to eat proper for my own health. Is very hard to do with all the food cravings.

I have made some raw soups, pate's and stuffed mushrooms all of which most I have liked. But it tires me out to think of what I have to do to make it all raw. It wears me out to think of cooking too. Not sure which is more tiring lol. :p I know it is just needing to get used to a different way that is really much easier in the end.

Well that is about it for now. I have been enjoying reading the messages in here and seeing the support that is given in here. And that it is soooo busy in here! And thank you for allowing me to sign up.

Hi lillierose!
I think you're a perfect candidate for an amazing, miraculous turnaround on raw. :)

You will get into a groove where you can prepare raw food as easily as you have cooked. Just give it some time. You could always eat simple raw, too, just noshing on whole fruits, veggies, and salads, if that sounds easier and appeals to you.

We're so glad to have you here.
Wishing you all the best!

I'll second what HolyGuacamole said about "simple raw". You can't get much simpler than tossing a container of nuts or handful of carrots into your lunchbag, or eating corn right off the cob (after peeling back the husk, of course). Sure, that's Spartan, but its where I'm starting :-) Juicing is easy, .... I'm guessing that the support here will make it more fun (which makes anything easier).

On Alissa's DVD it shows LOTS of recipes that are REALLY quick......I mean REALLY quick and the clean up is nothing compared to cooking. The other night I made a apple pie in 10-15 minutes, (that's including clean up) now who can make homemade apple pie in that much time, it takes 45-60 minutes just to bake it. I also find that the first couple times I make something it takes longer but not that much. It's great to have you here.

I just wanted to thank everyone for such a warm welcome to this group. I have watched the Gabriel Cousens Movie about taking 6 people that are all diabetic both types and healing them in a month and taking them off their meds. I know type ones are iffy in being healed completely but that may be the brain interfearing? Our beleifs can make a huge difference in how far we can heal ourselves cant it?

Hmm think I better move my self to another part of the group if I am going to get chatty. lol see you in another part. Again thanks for the warm welcome.
