Hello,

Has anyone made the cauliflower samosas from Raw Food Real World? I've had my eye on them for a while now and plan to make them over the weekend. I'm looking forward to making the wrappers out of young Thai coconuts. That will be new for me. And the filling looks very tasty along with the sauces.

If you made these, how did you like them? Any tips or advice? I'm about to leave my office and head over to an Indian food specialty shop (Williston Road, by Marcos Pizza) to buy some chunky chat masala. Anyone ever use that seasoning? It will be a first for me. I'm wondering what it tastes like....

I purchased some chunky chat masala from our local Indian food store and some other type of masala for a chickpea dish that my husband thought looked good. It was fun going into the Indian Store. All kinds of great stuff. Smelled so good with all the different spices!

I'll definitely post results on my blog. I'm going to come up with a mango cheesecake for dessert as well.

I like to celebrate (life) every Saturday for just making it through the work week :) And making lovely raw goodies is a wonderful way to do so. Don't ya think? :D

Cheers!!

Let us know how it turns out.....I look at alot of recipes in that book but always go and make my quick ones, although I do make the freezer fudge and macaroons from their book....they're great. Hope it turns out great for you.

I made the samosas and they turned out delicious! Wow they were so tasty! Even my picky husband loved these! The coconut wrappers were indeed tricky but I managed to pull them off :)

I attached some photos. All the details are posted on my blog. Also, here's my photo album for better and larger photos

Thanks for the kind words Ladies :)

I have to admit though that my husband helped me with assembling the samosas. It was a team effort really. After I filled and folded, my husband sealed them and got them looking decent. He's really good with his hands. When we did pottery together one summer, he was deemed gifted by our teacher. I could barely get my clay centered on the wheel and ended up with some cat food dishes and lopsided bowls! :D

They look yummy!! I'll have to recheck the book for the recipe! Did the seasonings counteract the cauliflower taste? (probably why I just passed over that one!)

The chunky chat masala and garam masala seasonings are strong and the cream mixed in with the cauliflower and peas does negate the cauliflower taste. The filling is also dehydrated for a couple hours and that also helps. This didn't have any strong cauliflower tastes so I think you'd be OK :)

Wow i looked at your blog and those meals are insane. And you sure have a lot of dinner ware! haha. I'd like to try a few of those, but i like to eat simply most of the time for better digestion. You have amazing presentation skills. :)

Hi Veronica, glad you like the food in by blog :) I hear ya about eating simply! I actually only make the complex stuff on Saturdays (as my weekly reward for making it through the work week :D) During the week days I actually live on green smoothies, fruit, salads and the occasional leftovers from Saturday (which isn't too often). I feel this keeps me in balance. And my body has gotten used to my big raw splurges on Saturdays and even seems to thrive in with this schedule.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!
Cheers
Joyce

Ah now I am even more impressed, cuz i don't have to worry about your digestion :p j/k. That's really great, i started off making one or two during the week to be creative as a treat. I think i would do it if i had someone to make it for, as for me you're right its much easier to do fruit, green smoothies and salads. I cannot live without that or i feel totally off.

I love the vibrant colours and looking at them just makes me think about what it could taste like. I've only ever had mine or some potluck gourmet food. :)

How long would you say it takes for you to prepare these dishes? Sometimes i find i destroy my kitchen after having to chop, food process and vitamix too many parts of a recipe lol. I can't say I enjoy clean up or scrubbing the floor after my creations. haha

Usually I spend a good part of the day on Saturdays making stuff. But I really enjoy it! It's very relaxing and fun. Typically I like to get done in the late afternoon so I can get out for a run. As far as hours it really depends on what I'm making. I'm not very fast in the kitchen (but getting better) and I take breaks. I'm lucky to have a super great husband who sometimes helps me clean up my kitchen after it looks like a tornado went through. We re-did our entire kitchen a few years ago. I had custom made counter tops cut that are very large to accomidate my raw food kitchen adventures. So that helps. But it's nice to have some help cleaning up in the kitchen. And he appreciates all the food as he usually gets to enjoy it too on Saturday nights :)

Because summer is short here in Vermont, I'll probably be making less elaborate food on Saturdays. Maybe just a dessert or entree instead of trying to do both each week. That does get expensive. Now that it's nicer out, I'll be just taking it one week at at time :)
