Hi everyone :)
Something that's been on my mind lately is all of the messages in our culture about women and aging. I'm 45 and, until THIS birthday, I never allowed myself to bother much with the whole issue. I have always looked younger than I am, but even as far as lifestyle choices went, I just did my thing. Suddenly, though, I have been struggling more with my choices to be single, to not have kids, to start my career over, and to consciously choose where to live now after a temporary move a year ago...I feel like I have the wisdom and life experience of a 45 yr old, but the lifestyle of a twenty-something woman. One of my deep desires with being raw is for all of this to somehow "gel." Raw is so empowering on the one hand, yet it is also another way for me to try to figure out where/how I fit into this culture at this age.
Last week, I went to see an orthopedic doc for a structural issue with my shoulder and the x-ray tech said, "Well, you don't get to be YOUR age w/o SOMETHING going wrong..." I just don't see/hear this kind of message about age in the raw food community and I just LOVE that.
I want to be 45 and juicy. Succulent even. :D

Ha, yeah, I intended to say a couple of things about sex appeal, hence the title of the thread, but I forgot! Sorry! Next time.:)

raw has it!!!! I hear stuff bout aging all the time. I do not relate to that at all. I just dont. To feel and look and be young and vibrant (at 50) is pretty cool. As you said ,while having the wisdom...how great!
You will only hear talk of getting younger here.

raw food makes you sexy . . . but I don't want to be looking younger than my calendar age just yet! I'm only 19!

Now that I'm 30 I'm looking forward to reversing a little bit of damage. I don't think about getting older, but younger. It's a nice change!

I'm 45 as well and don't bring those comments into my consciousness. We're on a much different path being Raw. I have had the experience of most people putting me in my 20's or 30's. And oh woman, if I do reveal my age sometimes changes their entire disposition & how they relate to me. If you think about this seriously, it's really silly and a waste of time. I am the same person you were talking to before, I've just been walking on the planet longer.
And by the way, we're Youthing! Woo hoo. :D
edit: ooops I really didn't mean to bring in that exact number of X's in my header. Freudian slip perhaps. LOL.

This is so belate, but thanks for your responses everyone~~~
I just needed to hear from some raw food peeps. It was a looong winter and I live in an area for the time being that, I would say, lacks vitality, and it was really starting to wear on me! It is a resort area and, in the winter, the core population of year-round residents is so shockingly--and distressingly unwell, tired, stiff, overweight...it was disturbing and it was messing with my head.
Here's to sexy, juicy, alive raw women!

Freud was all about the sex...
And absolutely raw is sexy... I took my shirt off the other day, and was told that I have sex lines... I couldn't believe it... just a year ago I weighed over 200 pounds and had a big ol' belly from beer and fried food... and it's gone baby gone.

fun thread! I'm 44 1/2 and most people think I'm in my twenties or thirties also. I'm not 100% raw (yet) but am vegan and exercise regularly.
Going from a tight size 10 to a 4 by working out hard and being vegan in the past 8 months made me look a LOT younger. My boyfriend's friends accused him of robbing the cradle and we are the same age! lol...he actually looks a lot younger than he is also, even though he's not even vegan (not fair!)
I just want to comment on the sexuality thing. I have to say, I feel more "juicy", vibrant and sexy, and have freaking mind blowing sex, WAY more than I ever did before in my life. I used to model professionally in my twenties and I had no where NEAR as much fun as I do now.
I think that if we are plant based, exercise consistently, and develop a spiritual practice, then our forties, fifties and sixties and beyond can be so much frickin' fun cause we have the energy and physique to have a ton of fun with the WISDOM that we've gained. Its the best of ALL worlds. Its like having our (healthy) cake and eating it too! I feel so blessed to be conscious enough to value the benefit of following a raw and living foods lifestyle! :p

Aaaahhhhh....! Thanks for the inspiration, people! :D
Dwightlight, you have sex lines! That is so cute, so great!
I am *determined* to be a sexy, juicy 45 yr. old! I'm starting to feel pretty again, now that I'm high raw and exercising daily....it's so amazing how two people have already commented on my sparkliness, and all that's changed recently is that I've started regular exercise...:)

I think there is something about eating healthy and being sexy. Other people tend to take notice when we feel better with ourselves.
I am going through sort of this same issue. I weighed 252 when I got with my fiance, and now I am down to 175. I worry sometimes that he may no longer see me as sexy, but he tells me that I am to him, so I am glad of that.

When I did the 30-day raw challenge I vividly remember watching something sexy on tv and getting no rise out of it what-so-ever. As a matter of fact for that whole month I felt no "physical impulses" at all. When I "feel off the wagon" and ate cooked vegan my drive/libido came back. Weird. :o
So what are you guys eating to make you feel so sexy?
~Thanks~

Raw food makes you physically and mentally sexy, I've lost 36 lbs in my 8 months of been raw and I feel and look so much better. I had the best comment I could ever have the other day. I was in the office with my husband and we were talking about my raw eating when one someone came in and asked why I went raw. My husband butted in straight away and said it doesn't matter why she went raw my god look at her she is stunning. Healthly, beautiful and sexiness she has it all that's what raw does for you. I didn't need to reply he said it all.

It really bothers me when people attach things to age. I'm 46 with a 7yo social butterfly who always wants to go, people think late 30's. When I was 37, they thought I was 27! Have had a lot of things happen past few yrs which have aged me, I see it but I believe this new-needed lifestyle is getting back to who I'm meant to be. I do not think of myself as my age, I think of myself as a person. It bothers when people point out the bad in us vs something good. I remember being in a yoga class & there was a person who was 60 & mostly raw. Her body was so beautiful, amazing headstands, a glow. She looked in her 40's!
I'm a widow, not interested in dating, but have noticed a change in my body feelings. I feel better & it's showing on the outside to others. Some have asked me if I'm dating. I reply, "no, just going raw." It's so funny to see their face! 2yrs ago, someone said I looked in my mid 50's. this really hurt me bc my H had only been gone a few months & I slept 2 hrs total per night & was exhausted. Our inside reflects on the outside many times. He looked in his 50's too. I've learned to try to overlook these people. I would surround myself people in the same lifestyle if possible. Being uplifted brings out our best & mores.
