Is Commericially frozen produce raw? I know in many veggie books it says before you freeze most veggies they must be blanched first just for a couple of minutes. So, when a raw food cookbook requires frozen corn , I am wondering if the corn is raw or not. Does anyone know about this?

If the recipe you're referring to is in Alissa's uncookbook, she has stated in previous discussions that she cuts the kernels off fresh cobs of corn and freezes them herself. And, yes, commercially frozen vegetables are usually blanced first thus making them unsuitable for raw foodists.

I agree about the veggies. However, just so you know, you can get some commercially frozen raw fruit, without sugar or any heat treatment. Check packages carefully.

What about frozen green peas?
What is exactly a blanching process?
Thanks
