I have been trying to eat mostly raw for the last week and WOW how quickly it changes your tastebuds and nose!

So I am out of town at my friends house this weekend. Yesterday he gave me his CC to go grocery shopping. I had decided earliry this month that after this trip, I would go completley meat free because even though he said he would eat vegetarian, he is still an omnivore and I wanted to fix him a nice dinner. BUT when I got to the meat section, I was slapped int he face with the odor of rotting meat and I couldn't do it. I just couldn't buy that meat! The store itself was pretty disgusting actually and I was loathe to even purchase produce there, but the had quite a bit of prepackaged organic veggies so I was lucky.

Well I did end up buying some bacon for him to fix for breakfast
(his lifetime favorite) and while I was cooking it, it smelled pretty good. It smelled good enough for me to even sneak a piece but it really didn't do it for me. I wanted something that tasted "live" KWIM? Then after I left the house for a walk and came back in, the whole house smelled like burning fat! It was so nasty!!! I was so glad that even though I prepared that bacon, I ate a HUGE plate of salad with fresh creamy avocado dressing that I put together on the fly and fruit salad for desert. Desert with breakfast! LOL

I love my friend more than I probably should, but I can't wait to get home to my raw kitchen!

Oh I can relate. One of the stores I frequent sells flesh in the back of the store and I always have weird expressions on my face or I'm trying to cover up my nose if I have to go back there for something. People sometimes return my weird expressions if it's crowded in there ~ it's a reflex for me. lol. Usually I'm safe on the outskirts though ~ this store is famous for it's huge selection of organic produce which is why I go there. But I avoid the back if I can help it. :)

I get that with frying things, even veggie things!

My partner fries up veggie schnitzels and I have to close the door as the burning oil stings my eyes and nose. I gag if I have to walk through the kitchen!

And I get the meat thing too, I just haven't had the misfortune to be forced through the meat section to get to fresh produce in ages! Blergh!

I can't STAND even cruising by the meat section in grocery stores. I've been veggie since age 14, almost 6 years ago, and just the sight or smell makes me ill. I hate when we have family coming over to Christmas/thanksgiving/etc and there's meat in the fridge for a few days...Kills the appetite pretty bad when every time you go to get food there's a dead body beside it.

Rawkinonsunshine..so love that name.
I hear you in that about the meat. Me too. At work I put my vegg in fridge....and sometimes cannot find a good place to put it away from dead carcass n flesh so I put it in downstairs fridge with the sodas and beer....heheheh.

I can't go there. When I am hosting - it is vegan, and that is known.

I still cook of course....Rome wasn't built in a day!

DS is willing to try things, DD is required to have 1 Ts of my green smoothie each morning....she at least has stopped fighting - takes it like it's cod liver oil or something! I'm hoping after a month or two her body will love the nutrients and tell her tongue to love it, lol!

My brother (aka Mr Atkins devotee) was very intrigued by the green smoothie approarch to getting greens. Apparently - one of the lost pieces of the atkins diet is he was gung ho on greens - particularly Kale....

Baby steps

But meat, dairy and eggs - that is murder to me, so not in my house, at all ever......
