hello

I'd really like to know please if its possible to process raw sesame seeds (not even pre-heated) into a tahini(a sesame 'butter')
but not using blade friction like in food processors and blenders,

I understand in the old days grinding stones were used for grinding the seeds but what I find intrigueing is how the sesame flour or powder produced by the grinding stones would then form into a butter-like state? how was it done then or how is still being done these days?

thank you so much
Yooval

I use my coffee bean grinder, but you could probably use a mortar and pestle if you have the patience.

It does seem like the store Tahini has a lot of oil in it so maybe they add some sesame oil.

In the vitamix videos you see them making tahini...
But I remember when I was little, in Mexico, my mom had something called a "molcajete."

We used that to make sauces and stuff like that I think it could work for making tahini because the texture is so rough.
