Are there any other school teachers out there that are raw? Well, I am not a teacher yet, I start my student teaching in August and then I graduate. I take my math Praxis II on Saturday.
Just wondering what snacks or drinks you take to school.

I'm a teacher. I was teaching high school and now I'm teaching middle school.
For snacks I prep a few things to have on hand to snack on during the day. I usually bring fruit (bananas, apples, grapefruits, etc), jícama, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes for snacks. I normally bring a big salad with a million things in it for lunch. Sometimes I'll bring apple slices and a container with almond nut butter mixed with carob if I want a treat. My students and colleagues know I'm vegan, but they don't know about the raw thing. The kids bring me broccoli and carrot sticks sometimes :D
Our school rules state "No food or drink" in the classrooms. Thatīs not totally realistic, so I made a new rule for my classroom. The kids can have water (we have a drinking fountain, so they donīt need water bottles at this school), fruits, and vegetables. They scoffed at first, but now they know that if they have an apple, a banana, or some carrot sticks, that they can eat them in class as long as they don't make a mess. It's gotten my students to eat a lot more healthy food!

Wow, thanks guys. I wasn't expecting any accolades for allowing fruits and veggies in my classes. I bet if your kids asked their teachers, that a lot of them would allow fruits and vegetables. My students no longer try to sneak food into the room, in addition to eating more nonprocessed, "real" foods. A lot of teachers here have adopted the rule for their classroom.:)
Im a teacher too. I usually take some fruit for morning breaks and either a large salad and some form of raw bread for lunch. I have a small blender that I keep in our deptment office which I use for either making smoothies or in the cold weather I make spicy tomato soup with some warm water to warm me up.
In my classroom I have some lovely pictures of fruit from the garden diet to encourage the kids to eat more fruit. On the other wall I have picture from the Violent Veggies Calendar!
Enjoy your teaching and I hope they don't drive you up the wall too soon!

Hey! This is the official policy of my son's primary school!
I think it's great! They get to munch on stuff, as long as it's fresh fruits or vegetables.
The younger classes have a points system. The kids get awarded points for all the healthy stuff in their lunches and the points go toward their class total, this seems to really encourage them to go home and tell mum and dad to put more healthy stuff in their lunch boxes. I've heard many a mum talking of their little kid's instructions on what and what not to put in lunches to get more points!
Teachers can make such a difference in a kid's life. We are really lucky, my son has a vegetarian teacher, it's wonderful! She really understands. I think there is at least one other veggie teacher at the school too and lots of veggie kids in the older grades.
I wish there were more veggie/vegan/raw teachers out there to inspire our children!

Those are great ideas! I was wondering how I could not freak the kids out when I become a teacher. I saw some free posters of fruits and veggies you could get online (I forgot to bookmark it but it should not be too hard to find) that I could hand on the wall. If administration asked why I had fruit posters hanging in a math class then I could say that the children can find geometric figures everywhere! lol! It might be easier to pass off if I get a science position too.

You shouldn't have any problems; I never have. If you're promoting positive, healthful things, then you'll be okay. The only problem you might have is if you try to push a raw food/vegan agenda. I don't really offer up information, instead I honestly answer questions that come my way.
Most of the teachers I eat lunch with have started bringing more salads and cut up fruits and veggies. They said I made them feel guilty. :p
I teach maths - I didn't think about what anyone would say, I just put them up! I often get a lot of questions from the kids about being veggie (they don't know Im high raw too!) some of them have even asked for (and made) recipes of some of the things I like.
You are right about maths in nature too, the seeds in a sunflower flower have the number of seeds in each row in ratio with the next row in the golden ratio (that is if I remember correctly)

There are tons of fractal demensions too like the snail shells. Something had a Fibonacci sequence too and now I cannot think of it. Darn I hate when that happens. Now I have to go look up and see if turtle shells are fractals or tesselations.
