Anyone..is this normal? I am on day 5 and have gained 3 pounds, am painfully bloated. So I figured it was the hummus and the cabbage leaves that I have eating. But weight gain? Anyone..:

Sure is possible
Water retention and toxin build up may eb the cause.
Are you having 2-5 BM's per day?
How much water are you consuming?
If you are female do you track your cycle? What day are you on?

It could be detox.

Our body is fixing and building all the time. We may appear to gain weight but this isn't fat. If you do exercise and weight lifting, you will gain muscle weight. This is all good.
Focus on your health and don't worry about the weight, all is well.

Could you be about to go on your monthly cruise? Either way, I wouldn't focus so much on the number that the scales say as much as what your body is saying. You don't feel right, but it is no reason to panic either. Pay attention to yourself and you will work through whatever it is you are holding on to and then be back on your healthy way!

Try tossing the Scales or not getting on them often.

i agree with whats already been said, just before my time of the month i gain 3 pounds over night! It all dissapears just as suddenly shortly after though. Also, when i first started raw, bloating was a huge problem because of the sudden abundance of fibre. Took my system a little while to get used to going from virtually none to plenty of fibre. :o

Raw cabbage, unless it is fermented in kim chi, makes me painfully bloated, backed up, and I gain weight until it comes out. I suggest eating very lightly until it passes, drink a lot of water, and maybe take some enzymes or have some kombucha to help things along.
I hope you feel better :).

I can't say I'm inclined to toss mine out - It's good to be able to monitor how things are going if you want to lose weight.
For the OP,
how about listing out everything you're eating?
I'm wondering if the OP may be eating some non-raw items thinking they're raw (i.e. store bought nuts that say they're raw, frozen fruit/veggies that have been blanched, etc. etc.)
The monthly cycle is certainly a possibility, too.
As is temporary fluid retention due to some detox activity.
Need more info from the OP.

The raw cabbage is extremely cleansing. If you feel bad after eating it, it means that you are not yet "clean enough". Raw cabbage juice does work even faster..keep trying and enjoy the benefits, they'll come soon enough, believe me

Are you eating lots of nuts and fruit together? lots of food combining can bloat you when you first go raw. It's hard on digestion. Eating fruits and salads will be the easiest and smoothies.

Salt = water retention?
It could also just be the sheer Volume of food you are eating, you know the weight of the additional water and fibre you aren't used to consuming.
