My kombucha tastes like beer

Hmmm, my Kombucha tastes like beer and I do not know why! Did I poison myself by drinking it? Can it go bad? I had it in the fridge. It is very strong and no longer tastes like the apple cider vinegar that it once tasted like. Please tell me I am not poisoned!:eek:

I've had beer-tasting kombucha a couple times...I didn't drink more than a sip, though, because I hate beer. I believe it will taste like beer when the yeast have been digesting sugars, thus creating the byproduct of alcohol, but the bacteria hasn't feasted yet.

How long had it fermented before you refrigerated it?

I don't believe you are poisoned, but don't drink it if it doesn't taste right.

Just drink a lot of water, and you will be fine. :)

Mine is still processing. I was just warned to watch out for Mold. So now you know how to make some "Home Brew" :).

I've had a couple of batches that tasted like beer. I didn't get sick or anything from drinking it. :)
