Hello!! I am new to the forum and to be a raw foodist.
I have decided to take the plunge, I know I won't be perfect but I am just going to focus on adding more and more raw foods into my day, I LOVE raw foods and have not ate meat (except for fish) in over 16 years. I am 36 and workout 6 days a week and want to add onto my healthy lifestyle.

I just need some pointers, can some of you give me what a typical day of eating looks like for you? At this time I do not have to much time to prepare meals and such, for breakfast I have been eating an apple then a little later on an orange then usually a bananna then a big green salad at lunch (I have a very active job) then snacking on nuts and having a big salad with a green drink in the evening.

Processed foods are my weakness, I love ceral and muchy crackers and such but it's been easy to give them up so far.

Any pointers would be great since I don't have time right now to sit and read an entire book and such but I know and feel like I want to start this now and there is no time like the present :)

Thanks for any help you can provide, I'm excited to see I have a great website full of supportive people that are doing and living the same lifestyle as me, very welcoming ....Thank you

Welcome! I'm relatively new also..but here's what I eat:

breakfast: 40-60oz green smoothie (lots of greens, celery, cucumber, banana, mango, maybe pear)
lunch: 40-60 oz different type smoothie (like banana chocolate nut..something exciting...i LOVE smoothies)
you can also do a big salad at lunch w/ avocado
dinner: yummy soup or raw granola with nut milk followed by a "milk shake" made from young coconut meat, cacao, dates...
or zucchini pasta w/ raw marinara or raw sushi and raw cookies

i'm currently obsessed with smoothies, so i might not be the best example LOL:)

good luck!

Julie, I love smoothies too!! I have a big smoothie machine that will also make soups and such, love that machine!
I just printed out what you wrote out, THANK YOU, I was wondering if anyone was going to reply to the new girl LOL

I could live on smoothies, honestly - I really love them.
I have a lot to learn but I have also been studying natural medicine and such for over 10 years so I feel I am somewhat educated on healthy living.

Very excited to get on with this, I wanted to log on and join and have a support system in place, I can tell that this will be a great board for me to turn to daily.

Have a great evening.

you're so welcome! yeah, this board is definitely super helpful for staying motivated. i come home from grad school where everyone jokes about my diet, and then i log on to here and remember why i am doing this in the first place! its great to learn things from people who have been doing this for a while also.

do you have alissa's book? i should be getting mine the 29th...i hear its amazing.
i've read a ton of raw food books, but im anxious to get hers!

light & love,

calgary vs chicago game - I'm watching too!!
They just opened up a hockey rink 10 miles from my house and I am sooo stoked about it. I cannot get enough hockey!!
Thanks for taking time out of the game to post, I appreciate your help.
I printed it out :)
I'm pretty much stocked up but I'm heading back to the natural store tomorrow.
I can see that this board is just what I needed to get involved in, it's so hard to find people in mylocal area that care to eat this way.
You have to educate yourself then maybe they would understand
YES, YES I am buying Alissa's book :) cannot wait to get it.

A typical day for me:

Breakfast: fruit, a green smoothie, orange juice.

Continuously stuff my face with fruit till bout noon.

Lunch: Salad of greens, tomato, avocado, raw dressing, maybe purple cabbage or carrot or other stuff in salad.

Afternoon: fruit, maybe a raw snack bar, maybe a handful of nuts, etc.

Later in arvo: Fruit

Dinner: maybe a big salad, 'rice' of cauliflower, vegies, tomatoes, seasoning pulsed in the food processor and eaten with crackers, maybe something heavier (raw lasagne, tacos, burgers etc.)

Dessert: raw chocolate, smoothie/milkshake made of nuts, frozen bananas, maybe berries, dates, pinch of salt, or raw sweet pie, banana ice cream, fudge, fruit salad, super food slice, etc.

Every sunday (I work at a market then) it's a big green smoothie and lots of bananas and maybe some apples, oranges, and other seasonal fruit.

starting off you might want lots of heavier stuff, that's cool, there's lots of recipes here, and also lots of support! :D

Thank you to those that have responded.
I am very excited to get going and reap the benefits of being raw
this is not something I plan to do for a short time this is a lifestyle change, I know I'll fall off but I'm not going to beat myself up over it that is for sure.
I'll just get back to it with my next meal.
BUT, I really am going to do my best to remain raw.

I cannot wait to make the smoothies, I can live on them I like them so much, even when I wasn't all raw sometimes my breakfast would be just greens, bananas, oranges, apples and figs all blended together, oh soooo good, I loved it!
