Rather than start a new thread for every question I have, I'll just post my questions here so I don't annoy you all. Here are a few more.

1. Is it normal to have a lot of gas and approx. 5 BMs a day? Is this something that will pass as my body gets used to being raw?

2. I take medications for depression and anxiety daily. That's something that I can't give up. Is this okay?

3. Also, is there a place on here to talk about personal life? Family, interests, etc.?

i take meds for that too. i tried giving them up and ended back on them, but everyone is different. just be sure to get used to the diet for a good while before you try. and always taper them down, don't stop abruptly. if it works for you, let me know because i would LOVE to get off mine!!

1. Take a look at Lesson #22 http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/ Tittled: "Digestion & Food Combining".

what meds are u on?

i was on prozac and i quit cold turkey.

i think it really depends on your comfort level and what your personal goals are. everyone is different with different expectations.

keep in mind there is no wrong way, and no mistakes. everything is a learning experience.

isn't it funny how differently our bodies react when we first switch into this lifestyle? 5 bms a day i wouldn't think is anything to worry about unless it is something you are bothered by. i would imagine that your body will stable in a few days.

I'm on Celexa, Valium and Trazodone.

So I'm not going to have gas and having frequent poops all the time right? This is just my body getting used to it?

Because of all the fruit anf fibre it is common to have BM for every meal you have. I find if i just do fruits and veggies it can be as frequent as every time i have to pee... If I eat heavier on nuts/treats it kinda backs you up and takes longer. So it depends what you eat too.

The good things about the BMs is that your body will seem to know if it is not convenient. If I am out for the day I do not seem to need to go at all.

There is a place on this site "personal growth" where you can talk about personal things.

Good luck!

I have to say that my gas seems to be the opposite to my bms. It seem to pick the time when it is the most awkward.

Mmhm. It's awful. I had to call and warn my husband before he came home from work.

Yes. I have found myself apologising to mine.

Don't stop Celexa cold turkey. I did that and it was awful. I was in the drug store waiting for my pills like a fiend.

Prozac I think you can quit cold. I was on it for PMS, and I took it 2 weeks on 2 weeks off with no effects.

Always a good idea to discuss eliminating the meds with your doctor.

That said, there are numerous stories of people who were able to get off depression/anxiety meds after going raw. Seems that the weird chemicals in processed food were no longer affecting them.

Do what is right for YOU. Read up on the side effects of the meds, look for what happens when the med is discontinued, and be prepared with some sort of emotional support net to handle the adjustment period.

RaeVynn, I see your signature and WOW. You have had amazing weightloss! Is that all because of the raw diet? How long did it take to lose it? That's wonderful!

Hi. Thank you.
my SW is the weight when I started doing raw seriously, which was the beginning of February, this year, so, yes, I've lost a bit of weight so far. My HW is from November 2007, which was when I quit my high-stress job! Even though I was vegan at that point, the stress was working very hard at killing me... and I struggled my way down from there until I started with Raw!
Now, the weight is flowing off at its own healthy rate :)

I'll have some great before/after photos in a few months, I'm sure :p

On gas....might have been mentioned.

Gas is caused by fermentation.Ferm is due to improper food combining.

Fruit always needs to be by itself(or with greens) and then, once fruit is done for day, off to veggies. If six hours passes you may have fruit again. Fruit goes thru body fast like a farrari, other food slower. You put fruit under veggies, it makes gas.

Many long timers can mix whatever they want and be fine due to enzyme action. But newbies can go easy on body until it builds good digestion n flora n fauna..haha

Personal growth section for personal life. Super

Poops...more the merrier

My problem with having fruits with only greens is that if you do not have some fat with it you will not take up all of the fat soluble vitamins. I can just add some flax oil or hemp oil but I do not see oil as a whole food so I end up adding seeds.

Hey, I see you've been eating quite a few nuts and seeds... perhaps giving them a break for a while and focusing on greens and fruit will allow your body to "clean out" the yucky stuff that's still stuck in there before having to work at digesting heavy foods like nuts etc.

You may be able to eventually get off of your meds, either some or all of them. Right now, why don't you just concentrate on your diet and not stress about making any other big life changes. Your body is already making adjustments by your dietary changes, and throwing in drug withdrawal could just really mess everything up.

I used to be on three pills (Trazdone, Paxil, and another big one that I've forgotten the name of already. Plus Loaprzimine or whatever the generic of Activan is. I got off all but 1/2 of the Trazaone two years ago. I'd taken Trazdone for close to 30 years. I knew how bad I felt if I just forgot to take it or ran out for one night and was really kind of afraid of getting off of it.

Finally kicked it in the last month. Never felt better.

Hang in there. Do one thing at a time and focus on that. When you're ready to start tapering off on your meds, I think you'll know.

What is the richest food for potassium? I'm having some muscle cramps in my legs. I was eating a lot of bananas but they don't sit well in my stomach. Other than bananas, what else is high?
