Does anyone have or use the coarse screen for the Greenstar? I'm wondering if I should invest in one... cause when I juiced some tomatoes tonight - well it didn't do a great job of it.

Does anyone else juice tomatoes with their Greenstar? Any tips?

okay i ordered one... (coarse screen) and used it tonight for my tomato juice.

it came out really thick but i just strained it and wow was it ever good!!!

6 tomatoes
1 celery stalk
chunk of fennel
garlic
ginger
parsley - approx 1/3 bunch
a little lemon

kelp powder and vegetized sea salt.

my tip is: put through some tomatoes, then parsley, more tomatoes, a piece of celery, more tomatoes, more parsley etc. helps to keep things moving if you keep adding 'pulpy' stuff in between the tomatoes. :)

It is a disgrace that you have to answer your own question when you go to so much trouble to answer everyone else's questions so I am just using this opportunity to say hello. Hope that you loved your juice.

ah thanks sport. i was blessed with people responding to my blog and they gifted me the answers.

holyguac has been VERY helpful as well (just so you know)...

i must say... the juice i made last night (listed above) was probably the BEST tomato soup i've ever made.

now think about it. i drink tomato soup for dinner almost every night... have done so for almost a year. so that says a LOT about the greenstar - a lot!!!

I find with the green star, that we need to cut everything in slice. I didn't try with tomato, but i would slice them first.

Glad that it went well. That recipes sound delicious.
Do you think it was worth it to get the corse screen?

Best wishes!

When i did my short cleanse not too long I tried juicing tomatoes to make something very similar to your tomato juice/soup Aleesha and it didn't work very well... at all. lol.
I used the coarse screen.
I almost think that blending the tomatoes and then using a mylk bag to get rid of the pulp would be faster.
I tried using celery and carrots and parsley to keep the greenstar from backing up but it was still a slow juicing process.

Juice was still really good though :)

sar,

i make it a point to not be in a rush to juice. i take a moment to be very mindful when i juice. hence why i make extra and freeze it so when i am in a push for time... i can just defrost and gooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Hi Aleesha,

I enjoyed your review of the Greenstar and have decided to buy one.

The one I am considering is at the 2 Life Health Products site and comes with an attachment called a soft fruit knob. Have you heard of that or do you have one for your machine? It may help with juicing tomato, cantelope, and other soft fruit.

you don't need a soft fruit knob... just open your regular one a little more. ;)

you are gonna loooooove your greenstar.

Hey Aleesha,

Hope your enjoying your soft fruit filter!
I just signed up to these forums today so wasnt there to give my 2 cents. Now that you got the coarse filter you should try juicing oranges, they come out really nice with the bits.
I love tomatos but i never juiced one :D

May I ask where you purchased your filter as I think i may need to invest in a set of gears soon. thanks:)

I have a champion juicer, that came with a coarse screen as well as a fine, and blank plate. the coarse screen works better with soft fruits and vegs. for me anyway.

Thanks aleesha, I live in europe so i guess I need a different supplier :)

It's funny i used to use my coarse screen all the time for fruit. now im too lazy and just leave the fine filter and vegetable press in.
