Is there such a thing as an herb or veggie that has the taste of salt that I can add to my food? I've reduced my sodium intake to as near zero as I can get it - unless it's in my food naturally, then I really don't eat it. I don't add it to my food and I only use commercial salad dressings rarely - usually I use olive oil and red wine vingar with some Mrs. Dash as my dressing. But I do miss the taste of salt and wondered if there was a safe, natural alternative (I have a goal to reduce my BP). Thanks for any help!!

Celery is the most common source, dulse flakes, seaweed etc can be used. I add celery to sauces or dressings if i want salt.

Dried tomatoes are salty, colorful, and delish. Add some to your salads.

I think there is a need for Sodium in your Diet. Salt is OK, just in Moderation. But its your Journey.

I appreciate the help and comments! I've done some reading and according to what I've found, the recommended daily allowance for those without high BP is 2500 mg per day, and half of that for folks with high BP. If you look at processed foods, etc, you'd be amazed at the crazy amount of sodium that's in foods. I've had so much sodium go through my body for 37 years, it's time to let it work its way out. I figure I'll get the sodium I need from my diet, as I do know it occurs naturally - and the more natural the sodium, the better my body can digest/absorb/process it.
