The one thing we all have in common here at RFT is Raw Food; that is a given. :D I'm curious to know though, what are your other hobbies, passions and interests in life outside of Raw Foods and how do you cultivate them on a regular basis?

I like to look at pictures take pictures and read funny questions and answers to many posts on this site. I love being encouraged and inspired by having all of you here to share our thoughts and feelings toward RF. Aside of food, I am an Art History student (transfering in the Fall), and I love to practice Yoga, swimming, cycling, stretching and attempting to surf.

I love going on long hikes, visiting museums, rolling off hills and pushing my limits. I also enjoy jamming out with friendly and happy people and dancing to most music. How about you Contessa ?

I love everything about nature and the outdoors -- walking, hiking, gardening, animals, horse-back riding (though I hardly ever actually do it), archaeology and just admiring the beauty of the earth. Funny how this seems to be a running theme for many Raw Fooders.

I love to read, go to museums and learn new things. Loud, fast music makes me happy and I've always wanted to learn to play the drums, though I don't have a rhythmic bone in my body.

I have a very special place in my heart for Africa. Actually, sometimes I think if you cut open my chest that my heart would be shaped like Africa. I've never been there but I've felt a strong and deep connection to it since I was about 12 yrs. old. I spend a lot of time learning about the people, countries, cultures, languages etc. Right now I'm learning Swahili. This love of Africa ties in closely with a love of helping people who are truly and genuinely in need.

Reading. I read a lot throughout the year, around 50-60 books. Fiction, non-fiction, whatever.

Movies. I'm obssessed with movies. Someone who watches 468 movies in a year needs help!

Ooooh I LOVE languages!!! The sheer beauty of their sounds makes me giddy. I've been known to watch movies or tv in other languages just to hear them speak. I always love listening to music in other languages too.

You have an internal instrument-that doesn't cease to play: your heart.I think if you cut open my chest that my heart would be shaped like Africa.
When you said this"I think if you cut open my chest that my heart would be shaped like Africa." I thought it was really beautiful and I can feel your longing to be their-this expression is so poetic and so visual. It's great that you are learning so much about the culture I hope that you travel their soon. Also, thanks for starting this thread-it's fun to read what other ppl. are interested in.

Artist life-long(wouldn't even CONSIDER doing anything else), but my interests and activities range across everything from hand-dyeing second-hand clothes and yarn, knitting, going to the gym and fitness in general, simple time spent out in nature, reading on an enormous amount of topics including metaphysics of all sorts, astrology, dreamwork, shamanism, alien/off-world/UFO stuff, etc. Budget travel too, like camping, and very frugal alternatives to the typical over-price vacations, simple living in general. Music tastes run across a wide range too, and I love going to outdoor electronic festivals and dancing! This is just SOME of what I get into...

Hobbies, eh...those things you do just for fun?

I research a lot on nutrition and neuronal migration disorders(and anything else which interests me); currently trying to learn as much about brain function as possible. I make it fundibular!

I love my cats, I love to be in the ocean feeling the world move around me. I am a singer and my best friend is a song writer, so I sing her songs every day. I like to draw, but I don't have much time for it & the kitties keep nuzzling my pencils. I am also a writer & editor; I edit my friends' papers for school/publication, and I write poetry & sordid fictions I rarely share with anyone else. :o

I feel like the odd one after reading all the posts thus far (with regard to my lack of artistic & spiritual creativity): reading (everything), Veterans issues (very active in VFW & ESGR), volleyball, avid fan of NHL & NFL, grad school, mountain biking, skiing, softball, golf, uncooking, sewing - clothes & quilts, hiking, camping, travel, beer & wine festivals...and whatever adventure opportunity works with my schedule!

At my core I'm an artist but I don't have a lot of time to devote to it. I am considering starting some classes. I used to draw a lot and I'm very rusty.

I read a lot of self improvement and spirital books and a lot of books (and sites) about food and health, etc. I think I'm getting all health'd out, though - everything you need is in the raw diet. :) I'm soon going to sell all my 'diet' books that don't deal with raw food.

I love music and I would love to make my own record someday. I would first try it on Myspace since I have HORRIBLE stage fright! Working on curing that.

Very into EFT.

I'd like to work out more - get a bike, get the Dance of Shiva DVD, and use my other workout tapes more. I'd like to lose some weight and try out running in the near future. I am super interested in starting Yoga.

I have a fascination with Japan that I can't explain. But I would love to visit Ireland as well. I think I could almost live in Ireland.

I have a 6 yr old "puppy" who's my best friend. She's a sweet little girl.

I very much want to learn to sew my own clothes.

I'd like to make crafty, 3-D art as well as painting and drawing.

I want my own organic garden but I'm not sure how to start with so much else already going on.

I'm a massage therapist (and admin. asst. to pay the bills). I'd like to learn more healing modalities like Reiki, etc.

I am temporarily fascinated by just about everything!

My hobby is painting. And I find that all of a sudden I have as a result the email address and name of the editor-in-chief of Marie Claire Italy. I'm entering the Waverly Open Art Prize in June, so I'm very excited and very busy, have to catch up, as June 12 is my deadline. Tomorrow I'm off to a painting class at Golden Grove in Newtown, in Sydney Australia.

I also love karaoke as well, and singing along with buskers who I know, if they are cool with that.

Peace out my fellow travellers.

See ya.

Carla.

have you tried EFT on the stage fright issue!? (just the first thought i had when reading your post!)

oh, back on topic! My interests are reading (about health, nutrition, spirituality, healing, quantum physics, etc...) , meditation, sewing (clothing), writing, browsing raw food talk, swimming in the ocean, sunbathing, watching movies, and most of all spending time with my hubby and my doggy! I have the best family!!!

I always loved nature and did a lot of hiking and camping, i used to read a lot - but that changed. I am an artist and i work full time in the field not related to art, and study part time - i hardly have time for anything. Painting/creating is the essence!
If i could i would do that outdoors, swim and read under the trees whenever i would need a break from painting.

So singing and guitar playing too. Taking pictures. Sewing simple things.Exercising with DVDs. i like to take exercise(like yoga or dance)too, but because I have little time without my son, it makes more sense to save travel time for now.
