Good Morning all,

I am new to the raw diet, I have studied and have graduated CSNN and am trying to go fully raw, but am finding it hard to shop as the expense is huge. Does anyone have ideas to keep the cost down, right now I am fully vegan, with half raw, please help me go all the way, with your words of wisdom and ways to do things.

Thank you,
deb12

Welcome Deb! There are TONS of ways to be Raw frugally! Connect with a local farmer's market and ask for the "seconds"...same w/local grocery stores...grow your own, etc.

Also, check out: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/blog.php?u=2970

Mattye wrote a book on eating Raw frugally. It's FILLED with wonderful ideas!

Welcome ....... suggestions, do you have a space where you can plant a garden? I have neighbors and friends that know how much produce we go through and when they have extras in their gardens or on their fruit trees they call and offer. Actually, most of them don't want what's on their trees and are happy to have someone use it.

Hi Deb, to keep expenses down try to shop locally and maybe try to buy bulk from a farmer's market distributor, or go there right before closing and ask for a deal. Also if you spend most of your money on fruits, veggies and lettuces, it will save you a lot of money. Nuts are very expensive here as well as avocados. I don't like filling up on those for my main source of calories as it's expensive and hard to digest. I usually keep bananas and apples in stock at all times, you can use them to make a smoothie or eat on their own, i usually eat 5-7 bananas a day, it's easy and cheap. :)

eating simply is a way to keep costs down. grab an apple... eat. grab a banana and an orange and you have a fruit salad. toss some chia seeds on it and wow... you are happening now!

as you stop buying all those expensive vegan foods... you'll have LOTS of money to buy mangos, pineapples and papayas... and then your salad is magickal!

:Hello,

Well I have to say welcome to the journey,

I too find this a bit pricey, however...
smoothies adding a little supper foods like Maca and Cacao Powder gives me
energy. I have noticed my food consumption, hunger has changed alot in a week. I also add Hemp Powder... in the past being hypoglycemic I wanted to add green powder. This helps alot.

Heres to a wonderful raw journey,
