So I'm doing research on medical associations for my company and I came accross some information on the British Columbia Medical Association's website basically urging the government to reconsider giving Naturopath's a wider scope of practice citing things like-
-it's a detriment to children when parent's don't give them immunizations based on a naturopath's advice
-cancer patients seeking "unproven" alternative treatment instead of the advice of an oncologist
-it's dangerous to let naturopaths write medical prescriptions
I understand that people want to uphold the integrety of the medical profession, but their concerns are coming from a place of fear, like somehow their job and their accredidations mean nothing just because naturopaths have the opportunity to heal people in "unconventional ways". A LOT of doctors commit malpractice but to assume every naturopath will do more harm than good all the time is more than ludacris. Especially when they are tried and true methods and much less toxic than standard medicine to the body in the first place.
