View Full Version : New, not so new

So I've been lurking since February 2008, I never posted. Bad of me I know!
I've tried easing into the raw thing, and failed.
Today is my 2nd day of my raw food detox. I'm dying here! But I suppose the purpose of a fast is to detox, so it must be.

Hi Liz, great to meet you. What was your menu looking like when you are trying to ease into it, and what does it look like now? I'll send you some info that sure helped me out. I'm on week 7 and don't have any cooked food cravings anymore. :)

Well since I'm in fasting mode, there isn't much 'diet' to speak of.
Lemon/cyanne pepper when arising
30 min later a green smoothie (spinich/fruits/Flax seeds)
Lunch right now is veggies/fruit, but very little.
At around 3 I want to stab someone so I have another piece of fruit.
And for dinner it is another green smoothie.
When I'm normally eating (mostly) raw, I eat a lot of food, it is scary!!
Green Smoothie every morning around 6:30
Fruit when I get to work around 9:00
Lunch time are salads, or sometimes a avocado sandwich.
Dinner can be a number of things. And as I'm easing it isn't all raw there either.

If you are fasting im curious why you are adding flax seeds.
There's water fasting
Master cleanse (water, sweetner and cayenne)
Juice Feasting/Fasting -fruit/veggie juice only
Perhaps you are not feeling well as you doing variations of that. Your digestive system cannot shut down if you're still consuming fibre like in the flax and the smoothies. And you are getting angry because your body is craving carbs and still thinks it's supposed to be eating normally. You're just tricking it by doing a little smoothies and small amounts of fruit, that won't give you the results you want.
I get hungry when i consume juice or smoothies so i did a water fast first. I didn't eat anything after dinner the night before, and then just drank water and chammomile tea. I got to 4 days doing that, the first 2 were a piece of cake cuz i was not hungry at all, i only had to worry about being bored at dinner and lunch and find something to do.

I didn't know that about the flax seeds, so those are out of here...for now.
You know I did use the wrong word, fasting is really what it is, it is more of a detox, which I think is different...no?
This detox is going for 21 days, so I think I need to eat.
This detox thing is all new to me.

Ah i see. well detox will happen naturally if you eat all raw anyways. So MAKE SURE YOU EAT ENOUGH CALORIES! I would be starving and angry too if i was eating so little. ;) You need to make sure you have enough energy to sustain yourself and your initial shift to raw will make you lose weight anyways. My first month i lost over 10 pounds and i don't have a lot left to lose now. I even started double checking how much i was eating on fitday.com to make sure i was getting enough calories from fruits and veggies, we think we're eating more than we are... and with nuts and fats we can eat way more than we think.

LOL yes that's quite important if you have a family. I just have a roommate so i don't have to neccessarily be nice all the time, but i hate being angry and ravenous even by myself. Happens to me any time i don't have enough fruit haha
