Ok I bought some salt :D this time I bought celtic...last time I bought Realsalt. Anywho....

I found celtic in 12oz. bags grnd. fine and 12oz. 10.99 light grey crystals 4.99 ...10.99 vs. 4.99 12oz. bags....hmmm thinking I could grind the crystals..I went for the 4.99 (duh) can I? Now that I'm home is says on the bag to grind with a ceramic grider....

Advice Plz....

Well, you can pick up a grinder, LOL. They sell them at my local Whole Foods and fancier grocery stores, as well as at Sur La Table, etc.

Barring that, a coffee grinder should make pretty quick work of it. :)

I grind small amouts of Celtic Sea Salt with a mini mortar and pestle. Over the years I've tried 3 sea salt grinders. They did not work. The Sun-Dried Celtic Sea Salt is moist and plugged up the grinders.

Haven't tried it with a coffee grinder. Didn't think of that! :)

Thanks! I used the coffee grinder, worked ok. The salt is a bit damp but it still ground it ok just had to clean the little chute where it comes out, it kinda caked on there some. It says ceramic grinder...don't know if the coffee grinder is ceramic or not...LOL it did seem to put a bit more strain on the grinder than usual :D

I have a Kyocera ceramic mill that works just fine on Celtic salt as well as hard, huge Himalayan pink salt. If it gets cloggy I just tap it on the counter or whack it on my hand a little. I bought mine from Salt Works, where I get bulk dead sea and epsom salts for my bath and a variety of salts for eating.
Celtic salt is a little moist, yeah, but not a problem in my grinder. *shrug*

Glad the coffee grinder worked OK.

Mortar and pestle is a good idea. I never thought of that.

I think you have to use ceramic because salt is corrosive to metal.
