Does anyone have a marathon uncooking session for raw foods now and then?
A friend of mine came over today, and we made Nori crackers, buckwheat granola, onion bread, broccoli salad, oat/date cookies, macaroons, cucumber-tomato salad, halvah, doritos, and falafels. We had so much fun! We are both dehydrating some of the recipes and then will split them up when they're finished.
I'm wondering if any of the dehydrated recipes such as bread, cookies, or crackers can be frozen? Does anyone else have any ideas for this concept of bulk cooking? I'm feeding a family of 8, I'm the only one on all raw but they are eating probably at least 70% raw too, so I would really like to have some things prepared ahead of time for easy meal preps.

Sure you can stick your extra dehydrator breads, crackers, and cookies in the freezer - I do this all the time! I keep half out to eat for awhile, and it's awfully nice at another time, say within a couple of weeks or so to just dig into the freezer and you've got crackers already made for those days when you're not up for a lot of prep. Have fun - it sounds like you guys were uncooking up a storm!
This sounds fun. Did you get the recipes out of Alissa's book?

Amen to the uncooking splurge! Yes, I do this - about 2x per mo - all that prepped stuff at my fingertips makes this easy! I call it "playing with my kitchen toys" - and it is very relaxing for me :)
Looking forward to getting home to NJ so I have BF to help!

I've done this a couple of times. I'm like LotsaRaw. It's a great relaxing time to put on some music and play in the kitchen.

I just got a dehydrator about a month ago & I just had one of these sessions! LOVE IT!
It's funny, I've always enjoyed cooking but never had the time...now that it takes even more time...I seem to have the time - does that make sense? I take such pride in creating new things too!!
Has anyone made a cheesecake? I'm so interested in making one!

I find it relaxing as well. This is how I will spend a day off a lot of the time. My room mates love coming home from work on my days off :D

My friend is newer to raw foods than I am, she is on about Day 11 of 100% raw now and I wanted to encourage her. Of course it was a big encouragement to me too! She says she wants to do it once a month.
I'm so glad to hear that I can freeze dehydrated items! I know it might not be totally optimal, but it would be very convenient at times.
The recipes I made yesterday are a bunch of my favorites, collected from various places over the last few years. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Alissa's book in the mail any day - I've read so many good things about it here!

I love this thread. How do you package foods for freezing? First I need a dehydrator but I am working on that!
