I bought a big leaf at the local fruit and veggie place. I tried to eat some:(
texture - taste - abominable!
wondered if anyone else has tried?

I bought home a baby plant recently to nurture it into a bigger plant with the intentions of eating it later. I'm prepared for the fact that it's apparently very bitter!

bitter isn't the half of it!
I've eaten some of my home plant too - small - very different!!!
This was a leaf about 18" long. Very weird!

I've only consumed it in drink form. I do use my aloe plant in my homemade face wash though.
Blend up:
aloe gel
honey
water
oats
once well combined ad a healthy squirt of dr bronners tea tree oil soap base.

I put the little plant leaves in my smoothies. Never had the giant ones.

The whole thing? Aren't they a bit - spikey?

Spiky, but soft enough that they blend with no spikiness.

Slice off the thick green outer skin and scrape the goo into a smoothie! It is lovely in smoothies and really good for the stomach!

I was wondering if aloe is one of those things most effective on an empty stomach, like wheat grass juice???
But after today - yeah - it's gotta be with something else, lol!

It's also make a great antiseptic, good on all kinds of wounds. There are different kinds. It's always cheaper to buy a plant than buy by the piece, a plant will have pups and you will be able to supply everyone with them. Also if you see any in at your neighboor, just ask for some.
I also add it to Smoothies.
I also simply cut up the leaf and add a small bit in my green smoothie every day.
I don't know if this is recommended or not - but when I cut a leaf off my plant, I cut it up, flash freeze and then place frozen pieces in a ziploc bag and store in the freezer.
I don't add too much of the aloe though, or it upsets my digestion. *Ü*
